Top 10 Best Movie Couples of All Time

These are the couples that could just make you feel the love and romance right off the movie or TV screen. You felt as if you were the one being loved...
The Top Ten
Fox Mulder & Dana Scully (The X-Files)

Mulder and Scully are the cutest couple, and because they've been through tough times together, they show their love with trust. They have a strong chemistry between each other.

I haven't got to the part where they actually start liking each other, but I knew as soon as I started the show that they were definitely going somewhere!

Fox William Mulder and Dana Scully are such a beautiful couple. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are great actors. Mulder and Scully forever!

Han Solo & Princess Leia Organa (Star Wars)

Two sexy, dynamic characters who lived a romance that was so good that even though they were not the central characters in this terrific saga (it's really about Luke and Vader, of course), their love story will always be among the most memorable storylines of STAR WARS. The carbonite scene is one of the most romantic scenes ever in film history.

They were supposed to both say "I love you," but before going on stage, the director told Harrison Ford to say what he thought his character should say, and he came up with the iconic "I know" in response.

Jack Dawson & Rose DeWitt Bukater (Titanic)

Definitely number one. They are the most astounding, passionate, and romantic lovers in the most amazing way, full of life through all the thick-and-thin, ups-and-downs. The flame of love they've ignited will remain forever.

Always and forever. They're epic, and their story is just so real and amazing. They stayed together till the end, and he died in her arms because he wanted her to live. Amazing!

The best movie couple, hands down! When they are together, I get chills. They also have great chemistry in real life. It doesn't get much better than Jack and Rose.

Noah Calhoun & Allison "Allie" Hamilton (The Notebook)

The Notebook is one of the most romantic movies I have ever seen. It brings warmth to your heart when you think of the struggle Noah and Allie go through and end up together at the end. Although I love Twilight, I believe Noah and Allie's love story is more relatable. Also, I am not a "hormonal pre-pubescent teenage girl."

I think they are the best couple ever! Their love is a beautiful story about life. We see the problems, which often complicate our lives. Rachel and Ryan played these roles very convincingly. I absolutely believe in their love.

Rhett Butler & Scarlett O'Hara (Gone with the Wind)

They are both so selfish and self-absorbed that it just makes perfect sense for them to be together. The ending of that relationship is also great.

The ultimate movie couple. So strong-willed, both of them. This was my grandparents' favorite movie, and they had a very strong marriage.

Possibly the best and most famous screen couple of all time! So realistic and believable.

Edward Cullen & Isabella "Bella" Swan (Twilight)

I love Twilight so much. I'm a huge fan, and I think they really are the best couple as they are together not only on-screen but off-screen too. It's proof: Edward, Bella, Kristen, and Robert - they're perfect for each other. Absolutely no competition.

They were meant for each other. Their love between human and vampire is unconditional. So when Bella turns into a vampire, it means that Edward and Bella can be together forever. They will continue their perfect piece of forever.

Actually, I am addicted to them. I really love Twilight. It's such a great book. I've read it almost 100 times but I never get tired of it. Every time I read it, I get chills. Please vote for this.

William "Will" Turner & Elizabeth Swann (Pirates of the Caribbean)

This couple makes me feel so strong for them! Every time I think about them, I want to cry because of all the cruelty and the unfairness they faced. They are so beautiful together and have such chemistry. They fought so hard protecting each other. All they wanted was to be together. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley created wonderful characters! I hate the ending in At World's End! Disney, bring them back and set things right!

Yeah, she kicks butt, and so does he. Partners in crime and best friends, just like a good couple should be! I liked the equality between them and the respect. She was a rich girl but had some real drive and power about her, and class! I think their loyalty was beautiful. She wasn't a pathetic, whining girl like Allie with Noah. She was a strong lady who stayed by Will, even when he left for sea. I cried in the second and third movies. Aww.

Belle & The Beast / Prince Adam (Beauty and the Beast)

It's rare to see romance building up in a Disney movie. Most, for example, Snow White, gets married after waking up from a kiss. NO CHEMISTRY.

Also, it is more solid than Twilight. Without a lot of dialogue, you can still feel their emotions about this relationship. In Twilight, what you see is a foolish girl who only wants to become a vampire and a dangerous, sparkling vampire with a self-harming obsession and ownership issues. This is not love at all.

Additionally, Belle chose the Beast rather than Gaston because of the Beast's character, not his frame or handsomeness. THAT is true love, people!

Ronald "Ron" Weasley & Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)

The best couple in the Harry Potter series, hands down. It's such a slow burn. It takes seven books for their full feelings to be revealed. The whole time, you can't help but be like, "Just confess already!"

Despite their differences and arguments, Ron and Hermione will always be there for each other. To see their relationship progress from a mutual annoyance to a tentative friendship, to a genuine companionship, and finally to a romance, is so beautiful.

The reason they beat out Edward and Bella is because of their romance style. Edward and Bella had an unnatural love, while Ron and Hermione have a realistic love. Harry Potter isn't a romance-fueled series, but this was the best side plot. Even though they didn't kiss after 200 pages, there was subtlety. And in the end, that final kiss was better than the many kisses of Twilight for a reason.

Peter Parker / Spider-Man & Mary Jane "MJ" Watson (Spider-Man)

The Newcomers

? Mom & Pop Gehrig (The Pride of the Yankees)
? Julianne "Julie" Steffans & Daniel "Danny" O'Neill (Lady Bird)
The Contenders
Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy (Pride and Prejudice)

What can be greater than love making you want to be a better man? Darcy is the ultimate selfless hero, rescuing his lady without expecting her to know about his good deed. "By you, I was properly humbled"... "I cannot fix the hour, or the spot, or the look, or the words, which lay the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun." His speeches are so romantic, and the man simply can't keep his eyes off Elizabeth throughout the entire book.

Pride and Prejudice is the ultimate romantic story. The BBC version had the best Lizzy and Darcy ever! The humility that Darcy showed after his rejection made my heart palpitate. His love for Lizzy broke down his pride and, in turn, overcame her prejudice against him. He made sacrifices for Lizzy without expecting anything in return but knowing that she would be spared pain and embarrassment. Their first kiss always made me grin from ear to ear.

Danny Zuko & Sandra "Sandy" Olsson (Grease)

John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John are amazing. They were so cute on and off camera, and they still do activities together today!

I love them both. The different attitudes during most of the movie just come together so perfectly.

From "Grease," you can't help but be electrified by this couple.

Robert "Rocky" Balboa & Adrian Pennino-Balboa (Rocky)

This is definitely the greatest movie couple of all time. They were soulmates whose love surpassed even time. As you can see in the last movie, "Rocky Balboa," even after her death, he was still madly in love with her.

Best love story of all time! I will never get over Rocky and Adrian. Total marriage goals!

A love stronger than Apollo Creed, Clubber Lang, Drago, and Tommy Gunn combined.

Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark (The Hunger Games)

My absolute favorite couple ever. While I do enjoy Twilight (mostly just because of how ridiculous it is), Katniss and Peeta deserve to be way ahead of Edward and Bella, in my opinion.

There are so many complexities to their relationship. The way Peeta is utterly devoted to her, and the way she cares so deeply for him but struggles with her feelings, is beautiful. Readers/viewers get to see how Katniss' tactic for survival transforms into genuine feelings, even before she herself recognizes it.

In the midst of war, death, and turmoil, Peeta and Katniss find their way back to each other, against all odds. I love them eternally.

Erik, The Phantom of the Opera & Christine Daaé (The Phantom of the Opera)

The Phantom's love and devotion to Christine is beautiful. The movie and the musical leave you at the end feeling very sad for Erik.

No other movie couple can beat this. Christine and the Phantom are such a darkly beautiful union.

Their love was, for Christine, fatherly, but for the Phantom, passionate.

Eugene Fitzherbert / Flynn Rider & Rapunzel (Tangled)

Their gradual love story just made my heart melt. They are perfect together.

Lara Antipova & Yuri Andreyevich Zhivago (Doctor Zhivago)

Oh please, what the hell are Edward and Bella doing ahead of Yuri and Lara? Doctor Zhivago is a beautifully 193-minute opus from the master of epic cinema, David Lean, a turbulent love story set against the fiery backdrop of the Bolshevik Revolution. And you guys think some sparkly vampires make for a more legitimate romance?!

Every generation has its own romantic epic couple. Your grandparents had Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara, your kids had Jack Dawson and Rose Dewitt Bukater, while you had Yuri Zhivago and Lara Antipova.

Anthony "Tony" Stark / Iron Man & Virginia "Pepper" Potts (Iron Man)

The banter between Stark and Potts is electrifying.

Oh yes, I forgot about them, but shouldn't it be Pepper Stark since they were married?

Anakin Skywalker & Padmé Amidala (Star Wars)

They were so cute together at first! Not kidding, I used to have a crush on Anakin in Revenge of the Sith. If Anakin had stayed good, they would have been amazing together and started a wonderful family. It kind of makes you sad to think about what could have happened and what did happen.

Such a deep and tragic love. Anakin gains power to protect the one he loves, while Padmé watches him sink deeper into darkness. Sweet at first, terribly sad in the end.

Yes, he was deceived by Darth Sidious, but he turned to the Dark Side in an effort to save her. Their romance in Episode II almost makes it my favorite of the six. I just find them so cute.

Alejandro Murrieta / Zorro & Elena Montero (The Mask of Zorro)
Romeo Montague & Juliet Capulet (Romeo and Juliet)

I honestly don't think they were in love. They had just met. I think it was just hormones. However, how they acted upon their feelings for each other is very memorable!

They had the most tragic ending, but they are still considered the best movie couple, or one of the best at least.

I have a graphic novel of these two. It's just so sad how Romeo thinks Juliet is dead, so he kills himself. When Juliet wakes up, she sees Romeo dead and then commits suicide.

Aragorn II Elessar & Arwen Undómiel (The Lord of the Rings)

I really suggest people read the Appendices to The Lord of the Rings, "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen." It's absolutely beautiful. "And thus it was that Arwen first beheld him again after their long parting. And as he came walking towards her under the trees of Caras Galadhon laden with flowers of gold, her choice was made and her doom appointed." JRR Tolkien, pg. 1060.

Whether it's in the book or on screen, these two have got to be the best couple I know of. Their love endures a lot, and throughout it all, it holds such depth. It is just a beautifully portrayed expression of love.

Bonnie Parker & Clyde Barrow (Bonnie and Clyde)

Look at the list here. Every one of them features forced love, and most end with that happily ever after cliché that's just shoehorned in to make two opposite sex characters do something bland. Bonnie and Clyde, however, needed each other because of their need to survive, which forced them to kill and rob banks together. Most of all, these serial killers actually made the audience sympathize with these two lovebirds, no matter how many they've killed. This is the best example that even evil people are still capable of love, and they should have been ranked higher!

Bruce Wayne / Batman & Selina Kyle / Catwoman (Batman)

Batman Returns or Dark Knight Rises? If Batman Returns, great. If Dark Knight Rises, no.

Sherlock Holmes & Irene Adler (Sherlock Holmes)

Can't believe this hasn't been added yet. They have awesome chemistry, especially in the 2009 movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Rachel McAdams were awesome together.

Robert Downey Jr. shares the same witty chemistry with Rachel McAdams here as he does with Gwyneth Paltrow in the Iron Man films.
