This incredibly talented young artist from Kazakhstan had his international breakthrough only recently, with sensational success at the Chinese TV contest "Singer 2017." He has appeared in a great number of concerts and gala events since, winning award after award. His fanbase continues to grow at an enormous pace.

Dimash wows crowds with stellar performances of pop and folk songs from all over the world, sung in their original languages. His voice is characterized by angelic beauty, and its range of pitch and dynamics seems to know no boundaries. Dimash is stunningly handsome, and his gentleness and particularly good manners are appreciated by audiences worldwide. All these qualities would make him an ideal ambassador of the Olympic spirit.

2 Arashi

Arashi, of course! They will cheer up the ceremony and give a real taste of what's popular in Japan! Sure, some people say they don't want a Johnny's Entertainment group, but in the end, if London managed to get One Direction, I don't see why Arashi can't.

They are the most popular JE artist, and it doesn't matter if the artists aren't internationally known because this is the Tokyo Olympics. Sure, it's international, but this is a ceremony to celebrate Japanese artists. It doesn't matter what other countries think of Arashi because they don't know the real Arashi - the boys who have a real bond, Kizuna!

They are needed in the ceremony as any J-Pop fan would have heard of Arashi, whether they like them or not! If we want to give the world a flavor of Japan's music, then it's not going to work. Let's face it - Arashi (and AKB48) are the most popular idols, especially Arashi! Arashi rocks! They can sing in Japanese - most of their songs have bits of Japanese in them anyway! Long live Arashi <3! (Hey, maybe Sho can host the 2020 Olympics for Japan like he did for 2012!)

3 μ's

This group, which embodies the miracle of orange, has made people all over the world addicted to them! They are idols from Japan, but they belong to the world because their performance in Tokyo Dome will not be forgotten permanently. Though they are not as pretty as models, they gave us fun and told us to never give up, whether or not the dream comes true! I love them.

What the nine women have done really inspired me, and I am very lucky and happy to have met them. Even if they don't get together now, I still remember them. This is because each of them has been a part of my soul.

4 The Gazette The Gazette, originally known as Gazette, is a Japanese visual kei rock band from Kanagawa formed in early 2002. The band is currently signed to Sony Music Records.

Their performances have a lot of energy and can get everyone pumped up and feeling good! The band is capable of arresting the attention of a large audience and appeals to a variety of age groups, irrespective of gender. To be honest, as a foreigner, I feel the band has a cool image - attractive but lacking the tame, plastic charm of most mainstream boy bands or solo artists that have been associated with Asian artists.

The band's immense popularity and charm also cannot be denied! I think they will make the opening memorable and unique. I am in no way demeaning other talented artists out there, but I personally feel a cool rock band like the GazettE will make the opening memorable. Though once unfairly considered a band for fangirls and visual-kei fans, I am very pleased to see the GazettE has broken such stereotypes and boundaries. The number of male fans overseas has greatly increased, offering rave reviews.

I am not saying it is "bad" to have just female fans. I am just trying to point out the universal appeal of this band - a perfect blend of Japanese visual kei aesthetics (something that unquestionably grabs everyone's attention) with a modern touch. The band will not disappoint.

5 Gackt Gakuto Oshiro (大城 ガクト Ōshiro Gakuto, born July 4, 1973), better known by his mononymous stage name Gackt, is a Japanese musician, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. He has been active since 1993, first as the frontman of the short-lived independent band Cains:Feel, and then for... read more

Gackt is well-respected among all of these artists and has inspired their careers, even influencing The Gazette with his start in Malice Mizer. It was Malice Mizer who set the tone and continues to do so, earning respect from The Gazette and many other visual kei bands. Gackt has served as a mentor figure for Miyavi and KAT-TUN. Despite health problems and setbacks caused by his enormous fame, he maintains a positive outlook to serve as a role model for anyone who opens their hearts and minds.

His hope and urgency to help Japan are appropriate, allowing him to open a ceremony that undoubtedly presents Japan with a new beginning. He is the most suitable representative of both the new and old generations of artists in Japan, embodying the true fire in Japanese hearts.

6 One Ok Rock One OK Rock, is a Japanese rock band, formed in Tokyo, Japan in 2005. The band currently consists of Takahiro Moriuchi, Toru Yamashita, Ryota Kohama, and Tomoya Kanki.

What do I feel when I hear ONE OK ROCK? I'm so excited! Why? Because it's the best band I've ever heard. I can't explain this... I love them because of them. My only reason why I like them so much is that I love their characters. Toru, Ryota, Tomoya, and Taka are so, so, so natural on stage. They have an amazing connection with their fans all over the world.

I was at ONE OK ROCK's concert in London. It was the best experience of my life. They gave an awesome performance and an awesome show! I think they can do this again at every one of their concerts, including the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. So, I believe they're the best band to perform at this time! Do you agree with me, Clockers? MAKE SOME NOISE!

7 KAT-TUN

KAT-TUN has a special aura that can surely catch all the attention. They can deliver both resplendent performances and fresh, encouraging ones. KAT-TUN can represent individuals who strive with all their might for things they want to protect, as well as a group that reaches for higher goals even in the face of frustration that other groups or people may find difficult to overcome.

After what they have been through, they have now grown into a very mature group of idols who give strength and power to their fans and to all the people who have confusions and concerns about the unpredictable future. They will always be there, telling you that everything's going to be okay because they have been there. They have dealt with difficulties that are far beyond our imagination. It has been hard for me to watch them fall down, but at the same time, I am delighted to see them stand up again.

Fans like me couldn't do much for them. But this time, it's up to us to decide! We can finally do something for our favorite band! I strongly recommend and insist on giving KAT-TUN a chance to step on that stage. They can show the world what they've got, and I believe they will!

8 AAA

AAA (with special remembrance of Ito Chiaki) is simply the best!

They always have the foremost performances, beautiful strong vocals with no lip-sync (unlike most of the artists/groups nowadays) while dancing with all the amazing vibes. No exaggeration, AAA is definitely one of the truly talented performers you can find in Japan (or probably even the whole world).

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics should be honored and proud to have AAA as the Japan artists' representative to perform for their opening ceremonies. It's a big chance to show the world what Japanese true artists are made of.

9 Metallica Metallica is an American Heavy/Thrash Metal band formed in 1981. The original lineup was James Hetfield (Vocalist and Rhythm guitarist), Dave Mustaine (Lead Guitar), Lars Ulrich (Drums), Ron McGovney (Bassist). The group came into mainstream from their Self-Titled album and the hit single "Enter Sandman"... read more

We need a metal band to perform at one of these Olympic events. I admit X Japan would be more appropriate, as they are at home in Japan, but Metallica are icons in the world. And isn't the Olympics all about uniting the world?

I am saddened by the fact Metallica has fallen to number 14. Add it to the list and get it above a person who does not exist!

Metallica was always a very reputable band, and they are still awesome up to this day.

10 Rin and Len Kagamine

Rin and Len are my most favorite Vocaloids. Thanks to Rin and Len, I've learned about Vocaloid. They've led me to Vocaloid. I love their songs very much, both the lyrics and the sound. Besides, they're very cute - such a cute twin. Their songs reach the bottom of my heart. No matter what happens, they will never stay apart.

I think the producers should create more songs, live shows, and treat them better. Miku has a lot of versions like Sakura Miku and Snow Miku, but not the Kagamine twins. I wonder why. It's not fair. I hope I can see more of their live shows and hear more of their new songs.

The Contenders
11 L'Arc-en-Ciel L'Arc-en-Ciel is a Japanese rock band, founded in Osaka in 1991. With a reported 40 million records sold, they were the first Japanese act to headline at Madison Square Garden.

They're the best to show the world what Japanese bands can do. Also, L'Arc-en-Ciel is the band that has more fans overseas, and for me (and many fans), it is the emblematic band of Japan. They are one of the few bands who have had the privilege of playing in the National Stadium (three times). For this and many reasons, they are the ones who should play in the Olympics. No one will do it better than them!

The best rock band Japan has ever produced. Sold-out shows, world tours, pulled off an intense night at Madison Square Garden, beautiful lyrics, and experience to top that off.

There isn't a better band to represent Japan's versatility and extent of music. From contemporary pop to electro, heart-rending ballads, strong beats, to well-worn rock. L'Arc-en-Ciel has done it all and is still doing it all!

Plus, plus, plus, we all get to hear Hyde's voice open the show. So why not? Olympics or not, Laruku is my undisputed kings.

12 X Japan X Japan is a Japanese heavy metal band from Chiba, formed in 1982 by drummer Yoshiki and lead vocalist Toshi.

It has to be X-Japan. They are the pioneers of Visual Kei and the creators of the J-rock genre as we know it today. They experienced the loss of Hide, one of Japan's most talented musicians. A tribute to them during the Olympics would be amazing. Yoshiki, one of their members, is arguably one of the most talented individuals involved in significant productions worldwide. They command respect from people all over. Their hymns, such as "Forever Love," have universal appeal because they blend English into their music.

They can be considered the "Rolling Stones/Beatles" of Japan, with a history spanning over 30 years and so much more. There are many other notable achievements to mention.

It's important to note that idols do not represent the true identity of Japan (thankfully).

13 Miyavi Takamasa Ishihara, better known by his stage name Miyavi, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, guitarist, record producer and actor. He is known for his finger-slapping style of playing a guitar.

Why isn't our SAMURAI GUITARIST higher on the list?! He's the first Japanese musician who can pride himself with so many successful consecutive world tours. He is one of the pioneers who brought the Japanese music industry closer to the rest of the world. Furthermore, his music unites people from all over the world, as he teaches us to go beyond race, gender, generation, nation, language, history, religion, and to BE ONE. I think that goes perfectly with the atmosphere at the Olympics. Not to mention his ability to completely blow people away with his insane guitar playing and his versatility of style.

14 NEWS

They've represented Japan in many sports events. They have a good relationship. They make a great team. They're good, amazing, and awesome. They sing and dance well. They are positive.

They fell down twice, but they never give up. They lost five members, yet they fought for their dreams. They stood up for themselves and for their fans. They love their fans so much, as much as the fans love them. They have a big heart. They always cheer me up. NEWS makes me happy, makes the world happier.

This band believes that they deserve more exposure and promote the art of expressiveness and creativity in their music. From different individual representations to a unified goal as a group, this band deserves and is ready to conquer the world with their eargasmic performances in front of billions to trillions of watchers and listeners across the world.

So why not choose this band in grooming for the international stage to inspire and encourage people of different ages with their full package? I strongly vote for this band because of my admiration for their determination and hard work. So, this band strongly deserves to perform in the 2020 Olympics and I wish them all the best.

15 Daichi Miura

What is this vote for? Does everyone really understand what this vote means? Yes, I will absolutely vote for the number one entertainer, Daichi Miura, here. His performance is perfect, and it gives us lots of surprises. Why don't you let us share his fantastic performance with all the people in the world at the Tokyo Olympics!

Daichi is known as the Japanese Michael Jackson, but he is not a mimic. His choreography shows a lot of originality, and he is talented in both singing and dancing. One glimpse of his performance catches and keeps attracting our hearts. Many more people in the world should watch his performance! Search his name on YouTube immediately if you've never watched it.

16 Babymetal Babymetal is a Japanese metal idol band. Their line-up consists of Suzuka Nakamoto as "Su-metal", Yui Mizuno as "Yuimetal", and Moa Kikuchi as "Moametal".

As a Japanese music fan who bought my first record in the early 70s, I think that Babymetal is the number one Japanese band by far in terms of the quality of music and stage performance. If they don't play on the big stage like the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, people from all over the world will miss the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to know just how special Babymetal is.

Babymetal is simply the best live performance you can get. They have so much energy, great music, great choreography, and have a large fan base the world over. Plus, several of their songs would work perfectly for the Olympics. Babymetal also has a broad appeal to many different age groups and all genders.

17 KAITO KAITO is a humanoid persona voiced by a singing synthesizer application developed by Yamaha Corporation using their new Vocaloid singing synthesizer technology under the codename of "Taro".

I'm Chinese. I don't know Japanese, and I only know a little English, but I just love Kaito. I have to study hard, do a lot of homework, and be criticized by my parents and teachers almost every day. I feel tired. But after a day of studying, I usually turn on the music software on my mobile phone to listen to Kaito's music, and he can make me feel better. It's the best time of the day. In a word, I love Kaito and his music.

I love KAITO. Not many people seem to like him because his voice is hard to deal with, but it's beautiful if you get it right. In his voice, you can feel emotion, just like any other person. I feel his voice is even more emotional than most of the Vocaloids.

18 Megurine Luka Megurine Luka is a humanoid persona voiced by a singing synthesizer application developed by Crypton Future Media, headquartered in Sapporo, Japan.

She can sing in English with better pronunciation and clarity. She has a soothing, mature voice which makes her sound like a real human being that people worldwide will like.

LUKA-SAMA! You MUST sing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics! Luka-sama, you have the greatest voice out of all Vocaloids! Luka-sama is a goddess!

Vocaloid has much to show the world. They are a marvel of advanced technology! They can perform any song in any genre. And Luka, if I may say so, is a goddess!

19 Ariana Grande Ariana Grande-Butera (born June 26, 1993) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Her four-octave vocal range has received critical acclaim, and her personal life has been the subject of widespread media attention. Although I am a Chinese girl, I love every song that Ariana Grande sings.

She has so many hits to sing. She'd be perfect for this.

20 Gumi GUMI is a female Vocaloid created by Internet Co., Ltd. She is the most popular non-Crypton Vocaloid of all time. She is voiced by Megumi Nakajima.

I accidentally voted for Rin and Len because I didn't think Gumi would be on here. I LOVE GUMI!

Echo, Again, Wildfire, and a duet she did with Miku (I forgot what it was called), and more! She is so awesome. I get she's just a program, but the voice and music the creators are able to produce are stunning! Besides, I feel like everybody knows Vocaloids or has at least seen them. Any of them would be great at representing Japan, but Gumi would be the best.

I love GUMI so much, and everyone practically knows who Miku is, so why not show them something new? Plus, she is bilingual, so she can sing in Japanese and English for the audience! I think she would be a great choice!

21 Coldplay Coldplay are a British pop rock band formed in 1996. The band consists of Chris Martin (lead vocalist and pianist), Jonny Buckland (lead guitarist), Guy Berryman (bassist) and Will Champion (drummer and backing vocalist). Manager Phil Harvey is often considered an unofficial fifth member. The band renamed... read more

They always make amazing concerts. Do you remember the 2012 London Olympics? That was awesome by Coldplay.

Yes! This would be awesome! Coldplay deserves to be on the world stage, and here is their chance.

I think Coldplay is really cool. Their songs are wonderful!

22 An Cafe An Cafe (Japanese: アンティック-珈琲店-, Antikku Kafe, nicknamed An Cafe) was a Japanese dance rock band consisting of Miku (vocals), Takuya (guitar), Yu-ki (keyboard), Teruki (drums), and Kanon (bass). The band formed in 2003, and guitarist Bou left the band in 2007... read more

Their songs are amazing, and they should really get to perform!

23 Tomohisa Yamashita

He speaks really good English. In such a great international event, an idol who is able to speak multiple languages is really important. This shows that a Japanese singer is not only capable of singing and dancing (which should be the basic requirement), but also able to spread Japanese culture and exchange cultural views!

What's more, he is popular because he has been acting in different dramas. Dramas are always essential in getting people from other countries interested in Japanese culture.

Yamapi is an all-rounded idol who has earned the opportunity to perform in such an international event for sure!

24 AKB48

Of course, AKB48! They are the most popular and famous artists in Japan! And their music is famous in foreign countries too, like "Koisuru Fortune Cookie" and "Heavy Rotation." The most attractive point is that we can meet them! If foreigners want to meet them when they see their performance, they can meet them while they are in Japan. They can attend handshaking events, theater concerts, and so on. How nice that we can meet idols!

I would like to see the original Kami 7 perform, along with as many of the first 10 Generation members as possible. These are the individuals who made AKB famous. Acknowledge all of them and give them the praise they deserve. Some have moved on in showbiz, while others have disappeared from the spotlight. However, ALL of them were contributors.

25 Kim Hyun-Joong Kim Hyun-Joong (Korean: 김현중. Hanja: 金賢重. Born June 6, 1986) is a South Korean entertainer, actor, singer, songwriter, and dancer. He is the leader and main rapper of the boy band SS501. Kim Hyun-Joong has also played roles in the Korean dramas Boys Over Flowers and Playful Kiss.

He constantly challenges himself and tries to surpass himself.

He is number one for all time.
