2019 Memphis Grizzlies Off-Season Preview

2storm Overview
Who remembers the Grit 'n Grind Grizzlies? That was undeniably the best era in franchise history. Well that era has progressively went away. It started with the signing of David Fizdale who pushed for a increased tempo. He benched Zach Randolph, who was a big part of the Grit 'm Grind teams. The next season he attempted to bench Marc Gasol for poor play, but the front office fired him. The next season they traded Marc Gasol and now they have one player left, Mike Conley. The Grizzlies are almost guaranteed to take Ja Morant with the 2nd pick which would further increase the tempo. That leaves no place for Conley. What should they do? We will talk about that in this preview.
Staff
The Grizzlies have yet to have a coach. I honestly don't like how their front office is handling things. For their coach I think they should consider 5 people. Ty Lue, Igor Kokoskov, David Blatt, Becky Hammon, and Adrian Griffin. Right now the Grizzlies like Igor Kokoskov and Adrian Griffin.
Draft
The Grizzlies are almost guaranteed to take Ja Morant. He is a high energy point guard. If you can surround Ja with shooters you could have an excellent team. The Grizzlies don't have another pick, but they could trade Mike Conley for a late lottery pick or mid to late first this year or in the future. I don't know how Memphis fans would re act, because everyone around here loves Conley. He has been our best player. (I am not a Grizzlies fan, but I live in Tennessee.) I think they should trade him though.
Free Agency
I don't know if their are a lot of players you should go after. It will all depends on if Valanciunas accepts his option and if they chose to resign Avery Bradley, who has been pretty good. Valanciunas will probably accept and I would think they would re sign Bradley for just a little less money. Maybe 10 million instead of 16 million. You will also have to decide on Delon Wright. If you can get rid of Mike Conley though before free agency, you would shed almost 30 million in salary. Their are multiple shooters you could get, which you would need for Ja. Klay Thompson is the most high profile, but you would probably need to get rid of more salary, but it could happen. It is unlikely though for the Grizzlies to attract him. Danny Green and J.J. Redick is the next level. Then if you can't grab them their will always be journeyman shooters.
Conclusion
Well that wraps it up. The Grizzlies are in a unique situation. Tell me what you think they should do. Up next is the New York Knicks.
