81 Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park

The sheer emotion that runs through me, especially when Chester performs it live. This song sends so many feelings, and strikes me right where it counts. It's a symphony of the terror of what drugs can do to a person, combined with that small bit of hope that the light isn't out of reach.

Breaking The Habit is the saddest song with Evanescence's My Immortal. Because lyrics is so meaningful and sadness, the tune is make you cry, Chester' voice is touching and emotion and music video is so heart wrenching.

Best Linkin Park song,
LP FOREVER!

Awesome Song... Just try and listen to it!

Must be higher in the list

82 The End - The Doors

Yep.

If you've ever broken up with someone that you truly loved, this is probably the most depressing song you can listen to (at that time).

The only problem is that is out of context: The song is an opus to how badly we treat the earth. What have we done to the Earth? What have we done to our, fair sister?

Hi, those lyrics are actually from "when the music's over" if you hadn't already realized but that's an easy mistake to make because they both are very long songs.

I don't find it strange that I cried one time listening to this. Do you? Okay, listen to the lyrics.

This is the end
My beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end...

This could be about the end of the world or a romance. It just sounds so devastatingly beautiful.

. This song makes me cry

83 The Rains of Castamere - Jackie Evancho

From George R.R. Martin's HBO hit "Game of Thrones, her performance of this song of tragedy is haunting. From her "Awakening" album (do listen with a subwoofer! ), and her third PBS special "Jackie Evancho: Awakening - In Concert". Jackie also appeared in an interview with George R.R. Martin on the Wall Street Journal Cafe on 10/27/2014 - Trancas

84 Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit

Limp Bizkit didn't even write this! It's The Who! God, people are stupid. His cover wasn't nearly as good as the original.

Also see limp bizkit's angles if you liked this.

Limp Bizkit Rock On!

85 Young and Beautiful - Lana del Rey
86 Last to Know - Three Days Grace

Why is this song so low! It's piano and lyrics really make me feel like, I can make it through. - Deathisbeyondcontrol

This song should be at least in the top 15 or 20 it's a very sad song

Emotional song. Filled with pain.

This song is so gorgeous

91 Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

92 A Day in the Life - The Beatles

Depressing song that actually sounds uplifting, but still keeping a depressing mood. It's kinda like those scenes in a movie where the main character's friend just died, but he doesn't feel sad, he just accepts the fact. In that way, it's a unique, melancholy kind of sadness. Definitely not #1, but I think it deserves a place on this list. - A7XfoREVer

93 Lucy - Skillet

312... Okay, just listen to the lyrics and then tell me My Immortal is sadder.

Sadder than many of the songs on this list, I'll tell you. - LarkwingFlight

This Song Needs To Be In The TOP 50

94 Shine on You Crazy Diamond - Pink Floyd

The reason this song is sad is that they're talking about a former band member by the name of Syd Barrett who left the band because of increasingly worse mental issues. He had schizophrenia, and lived as a recluse in his mother's basement for forty years. Ironically, he wandered into the studio that Pink Floyd was recording in, while they were playing this song. this was also his last encounter with the band. - ikedrums

It is so sad. You guys probably haven't ever really thought about the lyrics.

Best song ever. This should easily be in the top 10.

95 Let Me In - R.E.M.
96 Down in a Hole - Alice in Chains

With a song like Down in a Hole, you just feel sad as you listen to the whole song. It's got some of the saddest verses ever heard, particularly when the first verse is repeated alongside the line "Oh I wanna be inside of you". The way the lyrics are sung convey the sadness, and also in the chorus you hear the apparent denial of hope. - NuMetalManiak

Haunting and chilling. No doubt everyone close to me knows this is a song that got me through some hard times in my life. By far one of the best rock songs that were ever written. Too bad Alice in Chains does not get enough credit. "I'd like to fly... But my wings have been so denied... " RIP Layne Staley

Yes... Down in a whole and nutshell.. So beautiful and haunting, especially nutshell.. Gives me chills.. Rip layne staley and Mike starr

97 Broken - Seether

Whenever you have a song that is pretty acoustic-driven in the rock scene, you can expect it to be a slow, and sad song. Broken exemplifies this with it's acoustic guitar and very sorrowful and lonely lyrics. The second version of this song with Amy Lee is even sadder, when you think about how Amy Lee was Shaun Morgan's girlfriend at the time. - NuMetalManiak

What? I hope Seether in top 10! where's seether fans? because that song makes every people cry or sad.

This song deserves to be at least in the top 10!

OH, MY GOD! I LOVE this song! Every time I listen to it on my laptop, I just wanna cry, until I fall asleep! It reminds me of a book I'm typing up. It's called "Night at the Museum : Broken Spirits and Aching Hearts". It's set after NATM2. This is where the cowboy Jedediah is dying of a terrible sickness. Octavius is sitting by his bedside, about to cry at any minute, and Jedediah tells him he always loved him like a big brother, and he forgave him for everything he had said and done to him. And when he asks Octavius to give him one last hug, and that Octavius does so, right away, in the blink of an eye, Jedediah closes his eyes, tells him he will always be his best friend, no matter what. Then, he dies. Now, as Octavius lays his friend back down on the bed, he lets a bunch of big tears spill down his face, and cries very hard. And, when Larry wraps his warm arms around him, and hugs him, gently, and that he starts to cry like an "I-don't-know-what", not that's where I hear that ...more

98 This Used to Be My Playground - Madonna

I adore this song. We must say a big "Thank You" to Madonna for this pure masterpiece. Emotional, sad but very beautiful lyrics. This track will never be outdated because we all start as kids, then teens, then mature and then... We recollect the days of our childhood listening to this song - Irina2932

This song always makes me sad. Beautiful lyrics and vocals by Madonna. It will remind you of childhood days, will definetely make you nostalgic. Beautiful song.
