Best TV Miniseries of All Time

The Top Ten
Band of Brothers

This was the first miniseries I've ever seen from Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks together. I almost wanted to shrug it off but I took a chance and bought the DVD set. Wouldn't you know it, I cried like a baby. I felt with them. I loved with them. I cried with them. As a soldier in the US Army, my respect grew even more for these guys and the sacrifices they made not only for their country but for the guy in the foxhole next to theirs. I encourage everyone to watch this and also The Pacific, which is another miniseries Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks did.

Lonesome Dove

The most captivating series ever. I have locked myself in, unplugged or turned off my phone, and watched it start to finish many times. Read the book in a similar fashion.

This timeless classic should be number 1. What a wonderful story and an amazing cast. I have to watch it at least once a year, meaning I've seen the movie about 30 times.

Great series. The acting was incredible. I loved every minute of it.

Roots

This was the first big miniseries I remember. I was blown away every night. I bought the series and keep watching. It is one of the most moving TV experiences I have ever had.

Greatest movies ever. It educated a nation of its untold history.

Evolution never ends. Respect must evolve.

Gettysburg

Very well acted. The only complaint I had was that TNT and Ted Turner never completed the trilogy, with this being the second part, and Gods and Generals being the first part.

The Pacific

Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks have produced the best miniseries ever. Band of Brothers and The Pacific are the best!

North and South

Epic saga with theme music that will make you weep! The acting is excellent. There are few, if any, boring scenes during the show's run.

Loved this series. Very well acted. Many big stars in it.

From the Earth to the Moon
IT

I like the cinematic remake a lot better.

Shogun
Rich Man, Poor Man

The Newcomers

? Dekalog
? The White Princess

Very Well Acted, and those interested in The War Of The Roses gets a better understanding of The 2 Houses.

The Contenders
The Bronx is Burning
The Thorn Birds
The Winds of War

In terms of the scope, the history, and the massive production effort, "The Winds of War" is unsurpassed.

The Stand

One of my favorite Stephen King series. Good actors.

Jesus of Nazareth

The greatest miniseries of all time. Nobody does better than Robert Powell in the part of our Lord.

Beautifully done. The acting, the music, everything about it was wonderful.

Chernobyl
A.D. The Bible Continues

This miniseries should be a all-time first place hit. Nothing is better than learning about the word of God. Linda, East Hartford, CT

I, Claudius

Incredibly and brilliantly acted, historically factual, dramatically portrayed. Too bad Hollywood didn't make series like this one!

My favorite. The sets and costumes are simple, but the story is incredible and the acting was so powerful. I loved it.

Generation Kill
Texas
John Adams John Adams was born on October 30, 1735 in Quincy, Massachusetts, United States. Adams served as the president of the United States from March 4, 1797 to March 4, 1801. He died on July 4, 1826 at the age of 90.

As a history buff, I love anything, especially about the Founding Fathers.

Rose Red
Shaka Zulu
The Lost Room
Over The Garden Wall Over the Garden Wall is an American animated television miniseries created by Patrick McHale for Cartoon Network.

Probably the best miniseries and TV show ever. Over the Garden Wall has the best folk music and art in it.
