Doctor Who
Doctor Who is a British science-fiction television programme produced by the BBC since 1963. The programme follows the adventures of a Time Lord called "the Doctor", an extraterrestrial being from the planet Gallifrey.

Despite plot holes, sometimes dumb writing, cheesy moments, low-budget CGI, unnecessary romance, and the annoying push of some social issues, Doctor Who is one of the most unique and intelligent shows from the UK. Despite these flaws, the show overcomes them with a huge list of positives that would take forever to note.
The classic series is better, but the episodes from 2005 onwards are still fantastic, with some true gems. The universe is also nicely expanded with various spin-off material like Big Finish, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures, and mini-episodes.
GET IT TO THE TOP!
I'm American and I love this show. My second favorite is Top Gear. It's about cars and I don't even like cars, but I like the show. Same for Doctor Who. It's the only sci-fi show I like.

Sherlock
Sherlock is my favourite show. As a Brit, I love our dramas because of the way the characters are presented and how the storylines are always dramatic. Sherlock literally ticks all the boxes. It's funny, dramatic, emotional, and the characters are just so relatable and likeable (even the bad guys).
Also, the actors are incredible, and the music in Sherlock is so passionate and relatable to the plot. I definitely find this better than Doctor Who, so Sherlock should be number one!
I'm from Britain, and I've seen just about all our TV shows, but this is by far the best. Not only that, it's the best Sherlock Holmes portrayal ever (Robert Downey Jr. is second), thanks to the modern setting and genius cast and crew. Just watch it and see for yourself.
Not only me, but I am yet to meet a person who, if they've seen it, doesn't rate it in at least their top three. Until this site, I suppose...

Top Gear
Top Gear is a British television series that focuses on motor vehicles, primarily cars. The show is a relaunch of the original 1977 version and began airing in its new format in 2002. It has since become the most widely watched factual television program globally.
Top Gear UK popularized the entire car industry in an entertaining way. It wasn't just a guy talking about gearboxes and suspension. It had its laughs, its weirdness, its tensions, etc.
Now we just have to see what will happen without Jeremy, Stewart, and Captain Slow.
"CLARKSON!"
Ah yes, this show is full of wonderful jokes and entertaining, but still educational, content. I absolutely love it, and I love The Grand Tour, too.
R.I.P. Top Gear
October 20, 2002 - March 25, 2015
You will be forever missed.

Death In Paradise
Although I love Downton Abbey, this is my favourite show of all time. I think that Gary Carr will be amazing in both this and Downton.
I love Death in Paradise. It is amazing, and I always watch it when I'm sad.

The IT Crowd
Hello. I couldn't decide between The IT Crowd and Blackadder. It's so funny. I'm pleased it made the top ten.
Has some of the best one-liners I've ever heard. "Oh look, Richmond's still alive" gets me every time.
This show is amazing. It's hilarious and, in my opinion, one of the best shows of all time!

Coronation Street
Coronation Street is a British soap opera created by Granada Television and broadcast on ITV since December 9, 1960. The programme centers on Coronation Street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. It is one of the longest-running television programmes in the world.
This is such a great show. For starters, the show is based around the residents of a street in Manchester. We get to see the people's problems unfold and how they are resolved. Some problems lead to others, which keeps the show alive and explains how it has been running for 60 years.
Secondly, the show never gets boring. The way I look at it is, if you watch the show longer, the more interested you get. I'd suggest people watch it if they've never seen it before.

The Inbetweeners is one of the most awesome shows on earth. I'm surprised it's at 41. It should be in the top five at least.
