Most Unique Music Genres

The Top Ten
1 Progressive Rock Progressive rock is a broad genre of rock music that developed in the United Kingdom and United States throughout the mid to late 1960s.

Progressive rock is unique especially pink floyd and rush

2 Progressive Metal

At the risk of being labeled a "grammar Nazi," there is NO "most unique." There is NO "less unique."
There is no "kinda unique." Someone is either alive, or not. Someone is either pregnant, or not. And something is either unique, or not."

Progressive metal's good.but it's just a combined form of prog rock and heavy metal

3 Heavy Metal Heavy Metal music is a sub-genre of rock music that originated in the late 1960s-70s, featuring more distorted and heavier instrumental work and darker lyrical themes. Heavy Metal broke into mainstream success with bands such as Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Other notable Heavy Metal bands include Judas Priest, Anthrax, Testament, System of a Down, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, Avenged... read more
4 Classical

Classical to me seems more worthy of number one, without it a lot of famous music would've never been made. You know: Mozart, Beethoven etc. without classical music would most likely not exist. As a matter of fact it was probably the first music genre and is still better than Rap and Pop any day. And also Nu Metal is not worth 5th place if you ask me it's just not that worthy.

Yeah it's unique

5 NeoClassical Metal Neoclassical metal is a subgenre of heavy metal that is heavily influenced by classical music and usually features very technical playing, consisting of elements borrowed from both classical and speed metal music.
6 Trance
7 Nu Metal

There's nothing unique about Nu Metal...

8 New Age
9 Psychedelic Rock Psychedelic Rock is a style of rock music in the late 1960s where it is incorporated, influenced or inspired by psychedelic culture which revolves around the perception of hallucinogenic drugs. It is incorporated with improvisation, electronic sound effects and extended solos.

Definitely unique and rarely have bands been able to perform this genre that I know of except for Pink Floyd.

11 Symphonic Metal
12 Grunge Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is a subgenre of alternative rock and a subculture that emerged during the mid-1980s.
13 Rap

To elaborate, rap allows you to be more creative in what you're trying to express. You don't have to only rhyme. You can do multisyllabic rhymes, a wide barrage of figurative language, and much more. Some rap songs include recognizing ones mother, and making an ode to ones daughter, among others. It is poetry.

Rap isn't unique it's just the same thing over and over like Pop music. Most rap songs are about: Having sex, getting drunk, getting stoned, and going to the "Club". Hell even Classical is more unique then this!

I mean, poetry? This is probably the most unique genre ever.

14 Metalcore
15 Hip-Hop

Same thing as Rap not unique at all.

16 Dubstep

All it is just a beat with no lyrics not unique and anyone could do it.

17 Industrial Metal
18 Doom Metal
