Top Ten Whistle Register SingersThe whistle register, also known as the flute register, is the highest register of the human voice, laying above the falsetto register. Some singers have been able to sing in this register, although this is rare.
The most musical 5-Octave+ singer that I am aware of to date. She had excellent motor control, was able to clearly enunciate lyrics in the 'whistle register' and sustain notes for an extended period in all parts of that register. Her ability to do a 'walk down' and 'up', with seemingly effortless clarity, is just one example of the skill she held. It was indeed, her vocal skill that gave power to her voice – allowing her to switch from upper to lower ranges with a quintessential dexterity that can render one to an 'Adventure in Paradise'. Her lower range attributes were/are equally compelling – displaying emotive abilities as no other than the inimitable, Minnie Ripperton.
I love Minnie's whistle notes but where is Georgia Brown that woman can hit a note no one can even hear (G10) they used a machine to test for the note.
Minnie inspired everyone to sing in this register; Mariah even lists her as an influence. Able to imitate bird calls and instruments such as flutes and piccolos, Minnie sports a five octave vocal range and was the first singer to make this note popular. A fun fact is that she is the mother of Maya Rudolph, Saturday Night Live comedienne/actress.
She has a angelic whistle register I like Mariah but her "I Don't Know Her" character is repulsive Minnie is a much sweeter person.
She is the Queen Of The Whistle Register. She has inspired me to sing in whistle register and she has inspired so many others. She is the Jimi Hendrix of singing alongside Freddie Mercury of course he has an amazing voice too!
Whistle notes are her thing! Yes, she isn't the only one who has done it, or the first. BUT, she made it wildly popular. She has inspired musicians who are known for their whistle notes such as Ariana Grande.
Its funny how these people are so jealous of her, calling her fatty and yet you can't even come close to her level with your slim body and just to let you know Mariah's foot dust heck even her spit is of a higher quality that you haters and your favorite will never come close to... bye bye
Shanice is no comparison
I'd listen to Shanice's beautiful voice over mariah carey's ugly yelling any day honestly.
Pariah Scary is no comparison and her voice is just like her face and personality, ugly!
Shanice, no doubt about this chick! She makes Mariah fatty seem irrelevant.
Much better than Mariah Fatty honestly, yeah I said it!
His sustained D8 (live! ) is out of this world. And off the piano.
Wide variety of range and hits the whistle register effortlessly with no obvious jump off point.
I love how much emotion she puts into her voice. Her vocal breaks are to die for.
She's not human
Yeah I agree, she IS one of the best singers I have heard of and I love her for her whistles, chest voice and how easily she can sing with no efforts.
She has one of the best vocals of this generation and is regarded as a quintessential figure of music. Her 4 octave vocal range is amazing
This girl has been singing whistle notes since she was a TEENAGER, maybe even as a kid. Yes, she didn't always know how to do it correctly at first, but they still were impressive, and she's learned by now. She hits some of the highest whistle notes, both on her songs and live. She should be regarded as one of the best whistle note singers.
Ari should be #1 becauase unlike other whistlers Ariana has hit higher notes than Christina,Minnie and Tori. She is the best singer of all time in my opinion. Many people dislike her but their mad that she can do a whistle register but they can't.
One of the best female singers out there. Such agility and control. And her whistles are incredible!
Whistle note in "No pain no gain" performance is way better than Mariah. I love Mariah but Betty beats her at Whistle register.
Um no disrespect to Whitney but her highest known note was a FALSETTO C♯6 in "I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)." That's a far cry from accessping the whistle register. While that note can be sung in the whistle register, it's simply not in Whitney's case. I have little doubt that she could have accessed the register if she wanted to, but she's never demonstrated it publicly.
