The Top Ten
Easily the best, he should also be the best singer of our generation. He has done so much and everything he has done so far has been successful. I really enjoyed watching Linkin Park in concert, can't wait to see them again in the future. GO CHESTER, YOU ROCK.
He is awesome! NICE VOICE! From a soft voice to a sudden LOUD VOICE. In his song given up, his screams last for 18sec without even taking a rest! Chester bennington should be 1st instead!
Seriously, how is he not number one? In terms of sheer quality and range, Chester Bennington is absolutely amazing. Listen to his side project "Dead By Sunrise" if you doubt.
And Chester screams his way to the top. Although I understand a lot of people complaining that he shouldn't be here because he doesn't scream anymore and all that, but frankly, he never WAS in a screaming band and he STILL deserves the spot because he CAN scream like a demon - if the 17 sec scream in Given Up wasn't enough and for those who say he doesn't scream anymore - listen to 'THE HUNTING PARTY' and also, He Has Screamed In Every Album of LP Till Date. His Live screams are stuff of legend, I mean Rock am Ring n Live in Texas - Man his screams can make u finish! And to top it off he can also sing like a god - his vocal range is mind blowing - listen to a song like War or Given Up and then switch to My December or The Messenger (or even his cover for Rolling in the Deep for that matter) and you know he's not someone you take lightly when it comes to skillV 229 Comments
Danny is the Man I have listened to a ton of metal and while others can get close in my head no one can quite get all the notes he brings to the table. Personally I actually dislike Danny from a professional point of view the last album he was with them he didn't even really participate in the creation of it and it suffered because of it. But Stand up and scream is amazing. In particular the High at the end of Closure is just insane. All these singers are great, I'm actually happy with how well profile and accurate this list is to my own opinions. Also I will say this towards the end of his time with AA he changed his voice to be more careful with the health of his vocal chords and I do feel it took a lot out of his performance.
Danny is by far the best screamer on this list. Not only does he scream better than most people, he sings better too. He is the only person I know that can scream lows, mids and highs, but maintain a gigantic singing range. In terms of over all vocal ability, the only person that comes close to him is Corey Taylor. In terms of screaming alone, the only one who comes close to him is Oli Sykes. However, Worsnop surpasses Sykes by a long shot because Sykes is not what he used to be. I feel than Danny definitely deserves the number one spot much more than anyone else on this list
I get that a lot of people don't really like the band Asking Alexandria, but Danny clearly is one of the best singers of this generation. His vocal range is incredible (my vocal teacher didn't believe what he saw) and he can scream for extremely long periods in low, mid and high pitch (though he doesn't do death anymore). People who say he sucks live should watch newer videos (after he quit drinking before performing and took vocal lessons). The only one close to Danny would be Corey Taylor around 2001, but he clearly messed up his voice.
This guy's voice sounds like he have many souls trap inside himV 70 Comments
This dude knows how to scream. His screams work amazingly well with the heavy chugging and soaring solos, and the brutal blast beats. His screams are so versatile, and his screams make Suicide Silence one of the greatest metal bands that modern metal has managed to forge
In all honesty, vocalists like Oli Sykes, Chris Motionless, and Ricky Hoover are amazing, but Mitch completely beats every metal singer I've ever heard at all screams. His highs are piercing and smooth and his growls are beyond godly. Aside from when he had vocal distortion, he sounded flawless live. Mitch was, is, and will always be a legend. He is my idol. Without a doubt, Suicide Silence is the best deathcore and metal band ever. Rest in peace, Mitch, you are missed.
How is he not on top of this list. This guy is a MONSTER screamer he is the King of scream I've heard and seen lots of these guys on this list and Mitch tops them all by FAR no doubt about it. He is the best ever to walk this earth. And he is not the best just because he died and all those other lame excuses the other people say he was and still is truly the best screamer. RIP MITCH
This should be first. Suicide Silence would be nothing without Mitch's vocals. He brought deathcore to a whole new level. R.I.P Mitch 1984-2012V 48 Comments
Bring me the horizon is a band that I back in most all aspects when it comes to the screaming. Oli is probably though only screamer that I would be able to listen to on his own with no band backing him. I honestly don't understand how someone from linkin park is on this list or any other person from a band that isn't even a screaming band but I shall digress. Most do have extreamly good vocals so I can't bash them for that. I just think that oli goes above and beyond the call of duty by being able to sing like an angel and scream like a demon. Each noise brings me back want more like I haven't before
He's the best screamer in universe. He has unique voice. I didn't heard better screamer yet. Even his damaged voice is the best. Oli should be at first not Chester. And what Axl Rose doing here? Ok, I write this again : Oliver is THE BEST!
No. Just go away. If you honestly think he's "THE BEST" you should make your own awful list instead of commenting on a slightly more accurate one. He's only on this list because of the scene kids who worship him, he's so bad at screaming, especially live. Chino Moreno, Howard Jones, Ryan Clark, etc. aren't even in the top 10, which is just evidence to me that this generation is hopeless, musically speaking. No taste.
Oli's voice worn down as his technique and skills improved. This is sad, as I've watched him grow as an artist since their first EP was released. It's normal for an artist to strain his or her voice occasionally, but with all his constant performing, recording, and practicing, "occasionally" has turned into "a lot". Added his drug addiction, and who knows what other personal problems he may have that impact how he performs, Oli is hurting his voice. It's very likely he's developed maybe one or two vocal nodules, and I seriously can't bear to see him like this. His screams are, even with the damage, absolutely superb, but I'd rather have him take a break than go on hurting himself
Oli sykes was influenced by Linkin Park, and considers chester bennington his idol, so whoever saying he's better than chester is clearly messed upV 37 Comments
Matt Shadows Must Be The Number One, From Second Heartbeat, Nightmare, Scream, Afterlife, Almost Easy, Tonight The World Will Die, Save Me, So Far Away... Al Of The Song Is The Best!
I love the starting of Bat country
"he who makes a beast out of himself,
Gets rid of the pain, of being a man"
What is up with avenged sevenfold always being in second place m shadows should be number one not chester
Chapter four has the greatest screaming I have ever heard beforeV 47 Comments
I don't know how exactly Chris Motionless is beneath so many people on this list. Probably because motionless are only now starting to get their groove on and make their mark in metal. Chris has all the supposed qualities that Danny Worsnop (whom is also very talented) from Asking Alexandria has... Except he manages to have an even more diverse range of screams than even Danny. He does epic highs and brutal lows. In a way, his lows sound like Corey Taylor's "2009" screams- mature and deep with purpose (I know most of you who are into both bands would agree). However, he still manages to sound like "cradle of filth" all the same. But unlike all other screamer I know, he doesn't just do the stereotypical lows and highs... He fills in everything in-between with perfectly pronounced middles. He truly is the best screamer in metal in my opinion. I guarantee you're in for goosebumps with the breakdowns of 'immaculate misconception' and 'Abigail', or their new material such as screams in ...more
I love Linkin Park and have been listening to them for years, and Chester's vocals when singing and screaming are excellent, but Chris can scream in so many ways it's overwhelming. The way he transitions from lows to mids to highs is amazing, and he even manages to have awesome cleans. The fact that he is only at 9 on this list, as I'm writing it, is almost offensive as he deserves to be in at least the top three. He is, by far, the most amazing screamer alive. If you want to know what I'm talking about, check out his band "Motionless in White". Listen to Fatal to hear a good example. Or if you want to go old school, Immaculate Misconception, Abigail and City Lights are good starter songs.
His range is almost unreal. His breathing technique is top class and he makes it seem so easy. He does stuff with his voice I've never heard before. His scream is truly unique and characteristic... Because I'd recognise it was him screaming a mile off. Motionless is pretty new in the music scene at the moment so maybe that's why Chris is only 18th on this list. In my opinion he knocks the socks off everyone above, even though linking park, avenge and AA are my favourite bands, no one can deny Chris being just a step ahead when it comes to screaming (it doesn't matter if you like their music or not... The facts are plain to see)
Chris Motionless has a range that is insane for most vocalists, his gutterals are deep enough to rattle a room, he has a singing voice that can stop moshpits, I've seen it! And his screams can give you chills, he deserves to be #1 on this list. He has one of the best voice I've ever heard in a heavy metal song, he is one of my favorites on this list for sure, on top of all that, he is so intelligent and speaks out to his fans, and supports their fans in every way. When someone asks to listen to metal to check it out, I point them to Motionless In White almost immediately, they kill the stereotypes out of metal, and get people to love them and listen to them all the time, he's an amazing songwriter that can do that to people, he makes people who feel outcasted, feel like they aren't alone, and interacts with them through his music.V 19 Comments
Come on he have the best metal scream ever I really no why chester is the 1st this is my top ten screamer :
1-Randy Blythe (Lamb of God)"HE IS THE BEST IF YOU THINK CHESTER IS THE BEST YOUR WRONG YOU GOT TO LISTEN TO THIS MAN SCREAM HIAL TO SCREAM KING3
2-Corey Taylor (Slipknot)"this man one of the sceary screams and one of the beautiful voices"
3-Chester Bennington (Linkin Park)"by the way chester can't scream any more" sorry chester we all love you
4-Axl Rose (Guns N Roses)"welcome to the jungle scream is one of the best"
5-Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) " he have the best grunge scream but not the best scream of all genres"
6-Layne Staley (Alice In Chains)"for sure the best vocalist but his nemember 6 on topten scream"
7-Michael Jackson "the only pop artist I listen to if you think he can't scream go listen to dirty diana don't worry it hard rock song"
8-Benjamin Burnley (Breaking Benjamin)" just listen to diary of jane"
9-Dave Grohl " his really under rated this ...more
Who ever wrote this is cool BUT the only reason I think so is because randy and Corey is on here you should probably give mitch lucker a space on there
NEVER CALL YOURSELF A METAL FAN IF YOU'RE NOT IN LOVE WITH OR CRAZY ABOUT RANDY'S VOICE...
Randy's voice is so articulate when he screams, one of the few people that can actually make his screaming almost as clear as talking. Also, where the hell is Amon Amarth's singer on this list? Messed up. I think some people on this list are confusing screaming with yelling.
Everything on this list is wrong when randy is not at the top.. randy ran around the block three times, then ran back to the mic, to finish off a song and has more scream range than anyone else on this list...V 27 Comments
Slipknot '99 - young, gritty, hard working, and raw
Slipknot '01 - all out HATE, emotion, passion, suffering
Slipknot '04 - polished, articulate, witty
Slipknot '08 - deep, captivating, soaring, mature
Corey Taylor of Stone Sour and Slipknot.
Corey is obviously the best screamer out of everyone. His only competition is Danny Worsnop, Because Danny has godly vocal range. Corey is so emotion-filled and angry. I don't think anyone can copy his technique.
Corey Taylor is an amazing screamer, all in all. He can growl, sing softly, sing with force and put emotion into his lyrics. He is also incredibly resilient, can hold screams for extended amounts of time, and is only inferior to Mike Patton in terms of range. Yes people, Corey Taylor's range is almost half an octave larger than Freddie Mercury's! So, technique wise, Corey Taylor should be on top, no doubt.
His voice grows and digresses from album to album, he likes to experiment and try new things, and it always sounds good. He also helped bring scream vocals to the mainstream.V 20 Comments
How is Jake not number 1? M. Shadows and Chester don't even scream anymore! Have you guys heard August Burns Red's newest album leveler? Jake has improved a lot in his screams. He definitely has the cleanest screams and the best around. He should've been number one.
He has clarity, range, and he just goes hard on every single track. His sound is just raw and it carries over live. Most screamers on this lists are incomprehensible. Jake brings the whole package.
I don't understand how anyone could say that Linkin Park or Avenged Sevenfold scream, but Jake is definitely one of the best. Number one in my book.
Why isn't he higher up on the list he is better than Oli SykesV 6 Comments
tim I thank you for 'nothing left'... the best metalcore voice and the best metalcore song you have given me... it causes me goosebumps and takes my soul out every time I listen to it...
HE HAS A VERY SPECIAL VOICE. HE HAS A POWER AT HIS VOICE WHICH CAN ATTRACT MORE PPO TO LISTEN TO HIS SONGS.
Listen to "Paralyzed" and you will be amazed. His screams own all these singers here.
Tim is easily one of the best screamers out there... Has that deep gritty yell to that pretty high pitch scream, he can do it all. And has that nasty death metal growl. In my opinion it's Tim 1 and Danny at 2
Is definitely the best. I've seen half the bands listed live and Whitechapel kills it as its recorded which most guys can't keep that quality going on tour. Especially towards the end of the tour but you can watch Phil the first show of the tour and the last and he kills it every time
I think Phil should take Linkin Parks place, death-metal is awesome, he is an absolute beast in the song Let Me Burn
Why isn't Phil Bozeman in the top ten? He's much better than Chris Motionless.. you must hear this guy's lows.
This guy is so. Damn. Good.V 4 Comments
Seriously. How have I just had to add him? Forget how awesome his band is (Memphis May Fire), but the dude has an AMAZING singing voice and one of the best Screams I've heard! Seriously, check these dudes out if you haven't already! - mattcooper-kay
Amazing, versatile screamer, can sing great too. Definitely should be way higher on the list, but won't be due to generally being unheard of! - mattcooper-kay
Matty Mullins is definitely one of the most powerful screamers in existence. It actually sounds like he's nearly blowing his voice box out when he screams. So much power and emotion.
I love Matty his screams are so great and his voice is god-like!V 11 Comments
I don't see how he is below Danny Worsnop, in my opinion, and Oli Sykes. Oli's screams sound the same, he doesn't hit lows, and he can barely do highs. Same with Danny, who uses equalizers to make them sound the way they do. Mike doesn't, and he can scream live just the same as on his albums. I dunno, I just think he should be a little higher on the list. He has experience and from taking his band as a joke to making an album that hit in the top 40 albums in Rolling Stone... It's an accomplishment. Oli and Danny haven't done that yet, now have they?
I'm being elitist... I know.
This dude can scream though to some it seems as if his scream is fading; it was a personal choice that he decided to go with the more "live" sound on his newer albums, so he didn't feel like he was cheating his audience. In saying this he has a diverse unique scream and I think he is underrated. But this is a forum with a lot of widespread opinions take a look at the "with roots above and branches below" album. This in my opinion best shows his power and stamina to stretch the limits of his vocal chords.
He's an amazing vocalist who does great highs but always brings in amazing lows, just listen to songs like assistant to the regional manager or hey john whats your name again where he displays amazing range and an incredible raspy sound. Also you can understand what he's saying you actually have to listen to the music though. :p
Mike Hranica is one of the best in the genre. A bunch of these other screamers lose their voice after like 2 albumsV 20 Comments
For a guy who can't death growl he's good. I think his sense of not caring what people think and to just keep going are good qualities. Austin Carlile is one of the best screamers ever.
I think that he deserves to be in the top 10 but yeah.. I don't know... People have different tastes. But I really love Austin Carlile's screaming technique. He is very talented screamer
Austin has the most unique screaming voice from all vocalists in this list and he's amazing live! He must be at least in the top ten!
Listen to "you make me sick" by Of Mice and Men. It will blow your mind!V 6 Comments
How does the best end up at 44, seen most of the screamers live and winston smashes them all, he keeps improving and his vocal range in screams is unmatched, ollie sykes and danny worsnop come close but seriously... Chester bennington can't scream he sounds like an angry possum
I can not believe how could this guy be 44th place man.. Listen to Karma, Idols and anchors, Sleepwalker and many more.. He is the best.. His scream is unique!
This man can do the high pitched screams to the vicious growls effortlessly. And that queer Chester Bennington's Band is not even METAL or Screamo for God's sake. Additionally Winston is a lyrical master as he shows metalcore's roots in Punk's hardcore.
15th? What a load of bull. Winston kills at screaming.V 19 Comments
THE most diverse artist ever, you can literally hear & feel the emotion in his voice & can easily transition from soft singing to hardcore screaming his lungs out in the same song!
Manages to mix screaming and singing perfectly, plus can be aggressive and mellow in the same song
Most unique and amazing scream ever heard in the history of mankind. It's more like a lion's roar really.
Chester Bennington is a terrible all around vocalist. Jeremy is one of the best today.V 5 Comments
Kurt deserves to be in top ten there is no question in my mind. He merits it just for the passion in his vocals; his screams are hard to forget even with two decades gone. It is a damnshame the pressure got to him contributed to the ending of his passion, art, and life. Kurt could have been so much more than even the great man that he was the day he died. To hear some of his best work with Nirvana listen to the album bleach for the screams. Listen to Nevermind for the bands greatest work. If by this point you love the band listen to their final album In Utero.R.I. P Kurt Cobain
How can I express the amazingness of his scream? Just listen to the last minute of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night? " from Nirvana's MTV Unplugged. Last minute of you wanna hear the scream. All of it if you wanna be amazed.
No matter that he's gone from us. He is one flipping amazing human being... He left because he couldn't get a thrill out of anything and couldn't appreciate anything or anyone the way he used to.R.I. P
All right, agreed that he was a good screamer. and he screamed in some of his songs. but why do I have to find deeply for his screaming. when Ian Gillan more or less screams in almost all songs. if Kurt Cobain should be at top 10, then Ian Gillan should be at number 1. - zxmV 15 Comments
Listen to Tears don't fall then vote. You shall soon know the best
I believe Matt Tuck deserves to be first. He's really one of the best metalcore vocalists alive. He was amazing in Scream Aim Fire.
Don't even argue, listen to tears don't fall and others they speak for itself
He is so Amazing!V 9 Comments
Now Ronnie is in another band called falling in reverse they're new album is gonna release on june I bet you ronnie will be on fire because he din't leave escape the fate he was only told to leave the band and poor rake had to leave the band he would never give up his career so he created a band called falling reverse as I said ronnie will be on his best hear other songs witch he sang like My apocalypse, Not good enough for truth in cliche (Escape the fate) I am telling you he will be the very best screamer soon!
When I first started listening to his music, from Escape the Fate and Falling in Reverse, I thought someone else was doing the screaming lol. It was just so different from his singing and talking voice, and the transitions between the two were so smooth, I couldn't even fathom it was the same person.
Ronnie was one of the best screamers out there, especially his lower screaming ability such as in The Guillotine. The ending of the song were perfect double-layered screams. But now that he is in FIR he uses more rap than rock and his screams are not as good
We all love you Ronnie! He should be #1 on this listV 9 Comments
He has incredible screams, I think he should at least get into the top 20.
Spencer should have been WAY higher than a lot of these guys. He's better than Oliver Sykes
Specter is an amazing screamer. He blows my mind at his ability. The number one best.V 2 Comments
