Greatest Bob Dylan Songs

The Contenders: Page 2

21 Masters of War Masters of War

In high school I was disqualified from the school talent show for playing this. But I went out to the parking lot and played it in front of about forty people after the show. Its the only real protest song of the last fifty years.

Can someone tell me what this song is doing at #24?
Listen to this song, it's the 1 simple melody for 4.30 minutes which makes this song so unique, it deserves to be in the TOP 5.

Describes war in one song. Perfect on every level.

22 It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding) It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)

This song has been extremely Important to me, it inspired my poem 'The social classes'. It explores the way people choose to live their life and his reaction to their choices. He distances himself from those who won't break away from the machine that is society which tries to confine peoples thoughts and behaviour. - liamh1381

Greatest lyrical masterpiece of all of music. Though not as musically powerful as Like a Rolling Stone or Visions of Johanna, this protest of all of society's hypocrisy has a deserved place among the greater of American poetry.

'That it is not he or she or them or it that you belong to' that line alone deserves a place in the top ten

Yeh... Damn so many "best" Dylan songs, each deserving a number one ranking - Billyv

Probably the most beautiful and emotionally charged song I've ever heard.

This song really gives me chills because Dylan sings it so well. Great job with this one.

27 Ballad of a Thin Man Ballad of a Thin Man

Why are highway 61 revisited songs rated so low in this list?
People you do realize that this is probably Dylan's best album and not only because of like a rolling stone, there are many great songs on this album, ever wondered why rolling stone put this album at number 3 in their 500 greatest albums of all time

Most mysterious song I ever heard

28 Idiot Wind Idiot Wind

This has been my favourite Dylan song since I first heard it over 30 years ago. The anger and sorrow are transcendent. Most honest and moving break up song ever. He even apologised!

Some of the finest lyrics ever written, great music, pure Dylan singing. This song really deserves a better place.

In my view the greatest song of all time never mind just Bobs.

Probably his finest lyrical moment for me
