Top Ten Movies of 1994 with the Best Special Effects

This list compiles the movies released in 1994 that featured the finest special effects work.
The Top Ten
1 Forrest Gump

Sometimes the hallmark of great special effects is that you don't notice they are there. The news footage scenes were obviously doctored and we knew they didn't really chop off Gary Sinise's legs. The impressive effects were things like the iconic CGI falling feather, the manufactured crowds at the National Mall and the Alabama football stadium, the Vietnam battle scene, and the appearance that Tom Hanks really did become an Olympic level ping pong player.

Don't recall all that much in the way of special effects. The scenes where he was interposed with stock news footage were clever, but pretty obvious.

2 True Lies
3 The Mask
4 Wes Craven's New Nightmare

This movie has good effects. How is this not Oscar Nominated?

5 Stargate
6 Star Trek VII: Generations
7 The Crow
8 Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
