Top Ten Gravity Falls Cryptograms
As I say farewell to my favorite show on the planet... I must give a nod to the brilliant little Easter eggs. These include end credits cryptograms and whatever scattered codes throughout episodes. As I was flipping through them, I realized this was much more difficult than I anticipated. I remember when each of these codes were revealed-I remember pausing the screen to jot them down into my notebook and refreshing the wiki to see which ones I missed. I remember hypothesizing, I remember tearing some codes apart and laughing at the silly ones. I remember recording strange, unintelligible noises and rewinding them in hopes that it was yet another Easter egg. These hold a lot of sentimental value to me, and they are just delightful. The first of the classic end credits cryptograms. It certainly marked the beginning of a wild adventure. I'll bet we had no idea what we were in for!
Same. It's one of my all-time favorite shows. It's one of the first cryptograms ever in Gravity Falls.
This code flashes for probably less than a second outside of the wheel at the very end of the theme. This single code was the one on which we built hypothesis upon hypothesis and is repeated several times in the show. It's just the quintessential Gravity Falls code.
This cryptogram is so bittersweet. It ends an amazing finale. It's beautifully worded, very hopeful, yet depressing all the same. My favorite cryptogram.
In my opinion, this was a beautiful, bittersweet message to end a beautiful and bittersweet finale.
Wow. Looks like someone has a fear of witches or ghosts.
This, aside from Sock Opera's, was the first end photo-poem that was both important to the plot and haunting. It tells of the various things society used the memory gun to forget about, and I think it's a very pretty poem. Sigh I still remember when I first saw this episode... (It was grand and so exciting!)
Contained within the flashes at the end of Dipper's six mysterious clips is the red cross over Bill's Eye, possibly the most difficult code the show had to offer during its run. The words were scattered around, and I have no idea how the code works, so I commend whoever first figured it out. This marked how serious the plot was beginning to get, and it definitely built up Season 2 to be intense, with the overarching storyline taking center stage.
What a poetically simplistic way to end an episode that remains the highlight of my 2015. (Really, that episode! The buildup was real. I don't recall being so excited for anything in my entire life.) It was the perfect topper to an ending scene with Stan and Stan swinging together as children.
Clearly, Alex is a fan of conspiracies and hoaxes. For those who don't know, "Reptoids" is an actual conspiracy that paints out the government to be dinosaur-like "reptoids" that feed on the blood of human beings. I just thought this was hilarious - just perfect for such a creepy episode.
This is true. Gravity Falls is red-pilled.
Written in some symbolic voodoo language, this was a pretty intense code that illustrates when Stanford first summoned Bill.
SO. MUCH. BUILDUP. Man, this was when things were getting serious! Also, props because it kind of reminds me of Turn and Face the Strange.
This code kind of sums up the atmosphere of Gravity Falls: a thrilling mystery with a dash of humor.
