Top Ten Best Metal Drummers

The Contenders: Page 7

121 Gavin Harrison

Gavin harrison should be on the top 3... What just listen to porcupine tree!

Most underrated drummer. He is not even in this list. He ought to be in top 20 at least!

I think he deserves to be MORE higher!
He is one of the best drummers in the whole world.. I'm my opinion he should be at the list of 5

Didn't know that Gavin plays metal) But he is my favorite

123 Shinya (Dir en Grey)

Obviously not as famous as any on the top 10, most people don't listen to oriental metal I guess...but if you know a thing or two about drumming you will know that this guy has some incredibly clever work using his toms and odd patterns and still can also deliver good blasts and speed without relying so much on the feet as most metal drummers tend to do,even though with his technique he probably could if he wanted too.

Shinya and Inferno should be nearer the top ten and considering who has been placed as top ten both should be well up there. You'd have to scroll down to No.5 (Portnoy) before seeing someone worthy of being up there.

Shinya has very nice flow to his drumming style and has played some wonderful pieces. Perhaps not worthy of the top ten (not that he isn't better than the current top ten) but still fit for top 25.

This is my top pick, I've seen dir live loads of times and his precision and coordination are unrivaled in my opinion.

124 Eric Carr Eric Carr Paul Charles Caravello better known by his stage name Eric Carr, was an American musician who was the drummer for the rock band Kiss from 1980 to 1991. Caravello was selected as the new Kiss drummer after Peter Criss left, when he chose the stage name "Eric Carr" and took up the "Fox" persona.

Always delivered, always committed

126 Morgan Rose (Sevendust)

How this guy is so far down the list is beyond me. He has a way of just making complex drumming seem easy. And he just has a way of grooving while doing it. He also has a very distinct sound to his drumming.

Morgan has a very technical drum style, he and Sevendust as a whole need more recognition. - N4XUS

Where he is?! See some videos on youtube... This guy really know how to be badass

WHOOO SEVENDUST! Absolute badass drummer and needs a higher spot on the list.

128 Ingo Schwichtenberg (Helloween) Ingo Schwichtenberg (Helloween)

The drums on Walls of Jericho is amazing, and it shaped what would be power-metal.

129 Gil Sharone (The Dillinger Escape Plan)

Listen to their first album (Calculating Infinity) or any of their albums for that matter. Gil Sharone is the underrated legend of Mathematical Hardcore. His sheer complexity, accuracy and insanity is unparalleled and set apart from everyone else.

130 Jason Rullo (Symphony X)

There's other drummers I like better, but Jason had to get my vote because of his placement on this list. I would have figured he would be much more relevant to drummers or drum enthusiasts.

He's one of the best metal drummers of all time.

He is the greatest drummer of all time.

He is awesome.

131 Matthew McDonough (Mudvayne)

144? Really?! Spug is an absolutely fantastic drummer in technical skill, energy, and overall presence. He flawlessly handles some extremely complex rhythms with precision and power. Easily top 10 or even top 5 in my book at the very least. Give "Perversion of a Truth," "Mercy, Severity," and "Beyond the Pale" a listen for a taste.

132 Matt Halpern (Periphery)

We all know how great the old school guys are, and we appreciate that they've paved the way, but Matt Halpern is the best drummer of this generation, he is the present and the future of metal drumming. Gotta give credit where credit is due, he's the man.

Let's be honest. Nobody on this list can play like Matt. He is light years ahead of almost everybody on here.

222? This list is a joke. I do like The Rev's writing though he is nowhere near Matt Halpern. - Iannnmg

Best drummer, period! His jazzy, polyrythmic and groovy style is really unique and he makes it all look so easy.

137 Martin Axenrot

Most talented metal drummer of today... Should be in top 5 at least!

138 Thomas Lang

Again, not metal but a machine.

139 Nils "Dominator" Fjellström (Dark Funeral)

A challenger appears! Listen to the drumming on "Stigmata" and "My Funeral" especially (both from the Angelus Exuro Pro Eturnus album), in fact, watch the video for the latter as well.

"vobiscum satanas drumcam" says it all

140 Roel van Helden (Powerwolf)

Simply one of the best
