Popeye the Sailor is a fictional American cartoon character created by Elzie Crisler Segar. The character first appeared in the daily King Features comic strip Thimble Theatre on January 17, 1929, and Popeye became the strip's title in later years. One of the most iconic cartoon characters of all time, Popeye has been voiced by several different voice actors. He was also played by the late Robin Williams in his very first film role. Popeye fights for what's right and usually has his trusty spinach, which grants him superpowers to take on various foes, mainly his rival Bluto.
