Top Ten Villains Who Got Off Easy
At the end of many films and books, the bad guys get punished for their bad deeds. However, this isn't always the case. Some stories don't punish the villain at all.
Some get a slap on the wrist or a small fine. Others face no repercussions whatsoever, while a few are even rewarded despite doing a lot of bad things.
Often, this is because nobody discovers that the villain is truly guilty. In other cases, it's due to indifference, and in a few rare instances, it's because there's no way to carry out any punishment.
-
Megamind (Megamind)
Obviously, because he was a supervillain at one point, there are a ton of crimes associated with that. He also created his own supervillain, which would get him a ton of manslaughter charges at the lowest.
Despite this, he was pardoned for everything bad he did because he defeated the villain he created. Basically, he got away with all his crimes and got rewarded for undoing one of his bad deeds.
-
Namor (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever)
He flooded Wakanda because Wakanda stayed neutral in a war he started, which is a war crime. Most countries would have sentenced him to death, but Namor got away with everything bad he did.
Furthermore, Wakanda's army had every opportunity to kill or imprison him, but they didn't. It's probably because they were sympathetic to his backstory (he was a slave).
-
Zeta (The Angry Birds Movie 2)
For launching lava and ice at Bird Island and Pig Island, she'd be charged with war crimes, or at least property destruction and reckless endangerment. She is also guilty of torturing one of her workers, the one stuck in ice.
Also, safety checks were rarely, if ever, performed at the workplace she ran, which collapsed. This is another count of reckless endangerment.
Her punishment was absolutely nothing. The Birds and Pigs pardoned her for all of these things.
-
Gru (Despicable Me)
Felonious Gru is the main character of Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2, and Despicable Me 3. He also appears as a minor character in the animated films Minions (2015) and Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022). Gru is a former supervillain who becomes a loving father and occasional hero.
His use of the Freeze Ray on people would be at least battery. Its use in the coffee shop is also robbery. He also runs an unsafe workplace under his home, which would be shut down. Stealing monuments, including two replicas in Las Vegas, would also be grand larceny.
Most obviously, however, is stealing the Moon. While it is put back, it's still illegal to steal it. Nevertheless, he was never punished for any of these crimes.
-
The Underminer (The Incredibles)
He undermined a bank, multiple roads, and other buildings in The Incredibles. Because he was only a minor character, however, the movie didn't show his punishment, possibly because he got away with his domestic terrorism and grand larceny.
As of September 2025, there's no mention of a third Incredibles movie, so for now, he hasn't received any punishment.

By stealing Christmas, he was guilty of grand larceny, as well as about 100 counts of burglary. However, he returned everything he stole and became a respected member of Whoville.
This ending is a step up from his previous situation. He was a hermit living outside the town limits, in a life he didn't like very much.
-
Lord Business (The Lego Movie)
He tried to use Krazy Glue, or "Kragle," to glue everyone in the Lego world, even using it on a lot of people. This is the equivalent of preventing people from moving, constituting at least false imprisonment.
Doing it to everyone would be omnicide, so his attempt should get him a fine of billions. However, since he was the president, he faced no repercussions at all. The film doesn't show any punishment or impact to his approval numbers.
All of a sudden, everything was super happy and nobody was even mad at Lord Business.
Would you like me to mention that he wanted to freeze everyone?

In a race, you're generally not allowed to assault other racers, which Chick Hicks did. After the first Cars movie, he lost a lot of public approval, even though he won the Piston Cup.
Furthermore, by Cars 3, it was clear that it wasn't a huge setback. He got his own show on Racing Sports Network. While his crimes don't compare to many other villains on this list, his punishment was really light.

-
The Dursleys (Harry Potter)
These three are more mild, only guilty of child abuse, so they don't compare to other villains in this franchise, like Voldemort. One could also argue that spoiling Dudley wasn't good either, but Dudley became fairly successful after the series.
Nevertheless, they faced no legal repercussions. In fact, they got protection from the Ministry of Magic. The only punishment one of them had was that Petunia died in or before 2020, which is only mentioned in The Cursed Child.

Petey the Cat (Dog Man)
I know that Dog Man is for little kids, but I feel like he still got off pretty well, even for a book aimed at that age group.
If I remember right, Petey literally just got pardoned because he did one good act, which supposedly balanced out the rest of his horrible acts? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that helping to save one person's life is not enough for someone who put a million people's and dogs' lives at risk and wanted to abandon his clone/child.
