Top Ten Comic Book Superheroes

"A superhero is a fictional character who is noted for feats of courage and nobility and who usually has a colorful name and costume which serve to conceal their true identity, and abilities beyond those of normal human beings.

The word superhero originated with Superman, who debuted in 1938, and the stories of superheroes - ranging from episodic adventures to decades-long sagas - have become an entire genre of fiction that has dominated American comic books and crossed over into several other media." (source Wikipedia: Superhero).

This is a list of the most popular comic book superheroes.

The Top Ten

1 Batman Batman aka Bruce Wayne is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and first appeared in Detective Comics #27. In film, he has been portrayed by Lewis Wilson, Robert Lowery, Adam West, Michael more.

BATMAN is the best because without superpowers, he is of the level of other superheroes. He has solid personality and he is a very good detective. Without him, Justice league can't sustain. He has extra-ordinary skills and always remains two-step ahead of everyone :)!

Batman murks superman any day. He fights the same dudes as superman and does just as good as him without superpowers.

The great ranking!
I like it very much... Batman... Really an ultimate star
But I think superman should've gained more votes

Three words: BATMAN ARKHAM CITY. But honestly batman is the best hero of all time. The dark knight trilogy is severely overrated but that doesn't stop the world greatest detective from being the best superhero of all time. His character has so much depth, sometimes I almost cry because of how much of an amazing character he is. All of his villains are great and the joker is the opposite of him in every way which is why he is also the best villain of all time. Kevin Conroy is the best batman bar none. Play the video games, read the dark knight returns. BE AMAZED!

2 Spider-Man Spider-Man is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics existing in its shared universe. The character was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, and first appeared in the anthology comic book Amazing Fantasy #15 (August 1962) in the more.

He is what I how think a real person would be if he or she became a superhero, because he's not perfect, he gets scared and feels gulit, and lots of it. Plus he hates being a superhero sometimes, but he feels responsible because of his superpowers, so he can never quit.

Spiderman is the best hands down he can crawl on walls, pickup cars, swing on webs and he gets a ton of hot chicks.

Spider-Man stands out when compared to Batman or Superman because of the fact that he's very much human and shows us that through his acts and feelings. He may be a web-slinger hero when fighting bad guys, but under the costume he's just a regular kid. He feels upset and vulnerable at times as shown by Infinity War's ending, and values his friends tremendously, clutching onto Stark and not wanting to leave. That is what makes a good superhero. Not the costume, or looks, or ego, but the personality. - RosalinaX

Spider-Man has always been my favorite super hero. He's easily one of the most relatable comic book characters out there; he has to deal with issues that normal people face such as maintaining a job, dealing with school, financial struggles, juggling relationships whether they be friendly or romantic, etc.; all in addition to being a super hero. This is what makes him such a great character, he's just a normal guy who one day is burdened and blessed with these great powers that affect his whole life, and he has to try and strike a balance between his normal life and his hero life, but he doesn't always find this balance, which is what makes him so great. Not to mention, his origin story is very emotional and influential.

And my issue with Batman is that he's pretty much always on top of things. Yet he's supposedly a normal human? I just can't buy that, and I'm surprised that so many people still make the "normal guy" argument; the way I see it, Batman has two powers: Popularity ...more

3 Superman Superman is a comic character. And probably the first powerful superhero in the fictional world. The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, high school students living in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1933. It was published by DC comics. The first animated superhero movie was superman. more.

Superman is the number one hero of all time, he stands for truth & justice.
He has the ability to rescue in one part of the world and fly to the other side of the world in a blink of an eye to rescue others there.
Superman never crosses the line unless under the spell off some kind of kryptonite, all other superheros would cross the line to destroy evil.
Batman comes in second for his morals but without his toys and special ancient martial arts training he would be nothing and is no match for superman in any way.

Superman (Clark Kent/Kal-El) Is My Favorite Superhero Of All Time. - movielover1994

Superman is better than any other superheroes ever created. His leadership, his will and his never ending battle for truth, justice and the American Way is what makes him so awesome. - Heman

He's basically the first superhero ever created; if it weren't for Superman there wouldn't be no Batman, Wonder Woman, Captain America, Flash, Spider-Man, Green Lantern, etc. He is also the most kind and moral superhero out there. Superman is who I inspire to be like, but not in having super-powers; but in making the right decisions. Superman is an inspiration to me, and is who humanity should strive to be like. Superman is the perfect superhero.

4 Wolverine Wolverine is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men. His powers and abilities include a healing factor and his signature adamantium claws and adamantium skeleton.

Maybe he isn't the best ever, but he definitely deserves to be above SUPERMAN. Superman is a boring superhero because he has no dark side, he is too OP, and he isn't interesting to read about because he has no depth! He's just one-dimensional. So maybe Wolverine doesn't deserve to be number one, but there's no way we can let him be below Superman.

Its not about who can win... The story of wolverine and the x men is by far the best... Wolverine should be number one I mean he's a total badass

Wolverine is the best, He is awesome Ugh I hate all the DC people in the top two people who have no clue about comics just vote for them because they are the most popular to seven year olds. GO MARVEL!

Who brought back the X-men from cancellation!?

exactly - GnerdRage

5 Iron Man Iron Man is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, as well as its associated media. The character was created by writer and editor Stan Lee, developed by scripter Larry Lieber, and designed by artists Don Heck and Jack Kirby. He made his first appearance more.

Unlike most superhero's I've seen, Tony Stark (Or Iron Man, respectively) is not only a rich man with a cool suit fighting enemies, but also a funny person who loves his family and would do whatever it takes for them. - RosalinaX

Tony Stark is the Marvel equivalent of DC's Bruce Wayne. His awesome suits gives variety and we all know, "variety is the spice of death. "

He is just one great kickass character! Love his style attitude and everything about him his amazing... He is never dark oriented.. And an awesome show off!

Kick anyone's ass with gadgets and gizmos he even defeated the hulk

6 Captain America Captain Steven Grant Rogers, most known as Steve Rogers or Captain America, is a fictional superhero appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He was a World War II veteran and is known as the world's first superhero. The character was created by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon and more.

Captain America is one of the only comic book heroes that could actually be called a hero in real life. It's his personality, the grace in his eye, the pride in his heart and his courage that makes Captain great. As opposed to supermans strength or batmans gadgets. Captain America to me is what a hero should be.

He was my first favorite superhero and I will miss him.

He's got a shield!

Besides being my favorite superhero, Captain America is always looking out for others and cares about his teammates a lot, as shown by his reaction to Black Widow's death in Endgame. He puts his life at risk to save Vision in Infinity War. He tries to be reasonable and actually has a personality unlike some people (cough cough~Superman~cough cough). He is extremely resourceful, able to use his military training and his shield to defeat the enemies even when he noticeably doesn't possess a primary weapon or supernatural powers. He's willing to put his life on the end for his friends and family and always tries to do the right thing. Once Captain's got his mind set on something, his stubbornness will get the best of him but that just proves how human he is among his allies. Scarlet Witch might have magic powers and Iron Man his latest technology, but Captain America possesses great courage and the burning passion to save the day when he has so little to work with. - RosalinaX

7 The Hulk Robert Bruce Banner, also known as The Hulk or Bruce Banner, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and was portrayed by Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hulk is the strongest one there is. He is this because as a fight goes on he never gets tired and his strength increases as he gets madder. So in essence, Hulks power is not limited. I have never seen any being quite like him and have been a fan of him for 18 years now. He is and always will be "The Strongest One There Is! "

He did get tired against the Sentry in World War Hulk, but he is probably the strongest being in Marvel that isn't omnipotent if you put aside Red Hulk, Thanos, and Galactus - RhinoKing5337

Hulk can take on any revenge and any battle if ya like green he would be the kind of guy to look up to. What will the incredible hulk do now

There's not much to say about the Hulk, except that his brutality and strength simply make an enjoyable read. When Hulk takes a hit, you'll see the damage.

Storyline's are important and Hulks storyline is off the charts. Hulk has character and can show it when he needs too. He is strong and very brave. Hulk would never back down a fight. He's so strong its actually scary.

8 The Flash The Flash is the name of several superheroes appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, the original Flash first appeared in Flash Comics #1.

He may not be the most powerful but he has the best heart. That's what makes a hero.

It's kinda sad, because of MCU, Marvel heroes goes higher to the rank, when these charts were dominated by DC heroes

The Flash deserves the title of The Best Superhero ever. He is the fastest, and coolest. He isn't superstrong but doesn't need to be because he can overpower strength with his speed. One flash died to save earth. He is just plain the best. Ever.

The Flash's speed would put Superman scrunched up in a corner, and he would be able to do anything to stop all the others because of his incredibly fast thinking! He's by far the #1!

9 Green Lantern Green Lantern is the name of a number of superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics.

One of my favorite heroes, and not because he can glow and fly and beat up bad dudes with his imagination (not that I don't like that). I like Hal, Kilowag, Guy, John, Kyle and all the others in the Corps for what they stand for. They're cops for the universe, protecting as many as possible, often at their own expense. If you've read any of their comics, you can see that they take almost as much crap as the Bat-Family, what with being in charge of a piece of the emotional spectrum, and yet deferring to the Guardians, beings who don't believe in, nor condone, emotion.

Hal often takes the hit for whatever team he's on, whether it be the JL or the Corps, and Kyle had to drag the whole Corps out of the gutter almost on his own. John and Guy have also had to sacrifice a lot, giving up those they love, and even becoming members of the Red Lantern Corps. All of these sacrifices, plus many more (Coast City was destroyed and Parallax ruined lives, Kilowag wouldn't let Hal leave without ...more

Green Lantern is the best super her ever! I got to write an essay on any super hero I wanted and I chose Green Lantern. He should totally be number 1!

Simply a very awesome idea for a super hero. He should definitely have a higher vote than Aqualad, Goku, and Cat Woman, if not wonder woman as well.

He pretty much has the greatest will power of not just every Green lantern but every superhero. Some people also say that he has too many powers but just because he can make anything doesn't mean that he can do anything.

10 Thor Thor Odinson is a fictional superhero appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character, based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name, is the Asgardian god of thunder and possesses the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, which grants him the ability of flight and weather more.

Odin- The Halls of Valhalla- the Majik Mjilnor- the Son of a God- lightning power- Thor rules - damersh

There is a zepplin song pretty much dedicated to him. Now that's just badass. I still think captain America is better because he's an American hero and he's all American

Thor is by far better than most of the people before him, including Batman, Superman, Cap, Iron Man, Green Lantern, the 2 Indian heroes, and the hulk. Should at least be in top 10. He is so awesome and can beat hulk any day.

He's the god of thunder has beaten the HULK and the THING with both of their powers magically augmented (thing was powerful enough to nearly kill red hulk) I mean come on hed just pure bada

The Newcomers

? Ladybug She is a main protagonist in Miraculous Ladybug. Her civilian self is Marinette Dupain-Cheng. Unlike Marinette who is really clumsy, kind, and dorky, Ladybug is serious when she fighting the akuma villains. Ironically, she rejects Chat Noir's flirtation despite her civilian self have crush to Adrien more.

The Contenders

11 Wonder Woman Wonder Woman is a fictional superhero created by William Moulton Marston and Harry G. Peter, appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character is a founding member of the Justice League, a goddess, and Ambassador-at-Large of the Amazon people. In her homeland, the island nation more.

She's a super-powered amazon with powers and weapons granted to her by the greek gods themselves. She's one of the best superheroines ever created.

The best of the best there is but needs the proper attention given to her. With the proper writer and artist this lady outdoes anyone else around and that includes the guys.

All of the above could kick her @$$ but she is most definitely the hottest super hero

Wonder Woman has to be the best superhero because she so different from all the other superhero, first off she is bisexuality which makes her so different from the others. Next she is clay so she is not a real human. - apizza23

12 Deadpool Deadpool is a fictional antihero created by Marvel who appears in their comics. Deadpool's first appearance was in New Mutants #98 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza in February of 1991. His powers include self-healing and super strength. He is regarded as one of the funniest characters in comics due more.

Wade is the coolest ever. I have no idea why they killed him off in origins. And he shouldn't be able to die in the first place

He messes with his enemies head as much as his allies. Teamed up with Alex Hayden and your begging for nonsense and mayhem.

Deadpool is easily the coolest comic book hero/anti hero. He's so cool about everything and well... he broke the fourth wall people... the fourth wall...

Best ever, the funniest hero and he can’t die he is cursed from death and he breaks the fourth wall. Nobody beats Deadpool only people who even come close are Batman, hulk and green arrow.

13 Goku Son Goku (Kakarrot) is the main protagonist in Dragon Ball franchise created by Akira Toriyama in 1984. He has many abilities like, super strength, utilization of ki, flight, teleportation, super speed, enhanced reflexes, and Super Saiyan transformation that increase strength, speed, and durability. more.

Goku would win against any superhero in the world. Goku is the best. KAMEHAMEHA! Will blast you away. Batman has no real powers and his so called intelligence would be easily overshadowed by Bulma. Also Goku would just brutally beat anyone. Goku can destroy planets easily and even universes and Solar Systems. Now vote for Son Goku!

Instant transimition, super sayian, kamehameha, spirit bomb, dragon fist, hyper speed, hyper strength, he can squash the planet blow it to dust, funny, kind, caring, great dad, great friend, compassion, and he eats a lot what could be better than that

The world of Dragon Ball Z over the world of any other super hero! Its not just Goku vs a couple different bad guys, There's Vegeta whos both bad and good, Trunks who comes back from the future but then also grows up in real time to be a great fighter, Gohan with his amazing power hidden within, Vilians with multiple forms, etc etc etc. Goku and company #1 for sure!

Goku is very compassionate and also very powerful too. He's always trying his best to get stronger too. Not to mention very noble, giving Frieza a chance to live despite what he had done to countless planets and even his own race. So yeah, I admire Goku immensely

14 Green Arrow Green Arrow is a fictional superhero who appears in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Morton Weisinger and designed by George Papp, he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in November 1941. His real name is Oliver Queen, a billionaire businessman and owner of Queen Industries, also a well-known more.

He became one of my favorite superheroes since the T.V. show arrow

Green Arrow because he is basically Batman, Batman is rich- Green Arrow is rich, etc
He is specially trained and is great with arrows

How is Aquaman higher than Oliver Queen?

Oliver Queen should in the top five he is better than any other powerless superhero and is better than some powered superheroes.

15 Rorschach Rorschach is a fictional anti-hero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. He first debuted in the graphic novel Watchmen, published from 1986-1987. Rorschach was created by writer Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

A truly unique and dynamic character. His morals are unlike any other comic book hero. Seeing the contrast in his behavior with Daniel compared to everyone else is so interesting. His one rule is another thing that makes him stand out from all other heroes, it isn't based off of warped self-righteousness like Batman's. He even chose to die rather than stray from his one rule.

The best hero, with real conscience, so much so that even in the face of death (He died eventually), he had the courage to stand up against his old friends. To stand up against your enemies is on thing but to stand up against your friends takes another level of conviction.

Stick up for the little guy! Why does everyone hate watchmen so much!? HE WAS EPIC! - Dr_Sandvichius

Surprised he isn't further up the list with "real" superheroes having gained popularity and comics turned film like Kick-Ass.

16 Nightwing Dick Grayson is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with Batman.

Has developed from a pun churning, pixie booted sidekick to a full on hero in his own right. Plus, he donned cape and cowl and became a refreshingly different Dark Knight! Come on, show the boy some love!

He is the original robin revamped to kick ass. He is armed with two poles and should be recognized for his raw awesomeness - Clive888

Nightwing should be higher. He's such an interesting character who we had the pleasure to watch go from being an orphaned nine year old to awesome character we know only as Nightwing. He is Batmans oldest and greatest ally who even took the mantle when Bruce was missing. His amazing acrobatics and jokish way of fighting are a joy to watch. Not to mention his on again/off again relationship with Barbara Gordon (Batgirl) is another fantastic highlight of the character. Nightwing is an awesome character who I think should be higher on this list.

The best! He's better than Batman! He's stronger than Bruce emotionally because he has more relations with the superhero community and accepts them easily without being paranoid.

17 Daredevil Daredevil is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Daredevil was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett, with an unspecified amount of input from Jack Kirby. more.

He is blind and can still beat criminals much more impressive than Iron Man - Kafka

Deadpool is a good superhero because unlike Superman and Vision, he actually is human and can get hurt, and is therefor more relatable than an actual GOD.

He beats thugs constantly, not even looking at the target!

Most grounded Marvel superhero who is relatable, but also has some of the coolest fighting skills

18 Spawn Spawn is a fictional character, an antihero and hellish Superhero that appears in a monthly comic book of the same name published by American company Image Comics.

spawn kiks but and can beat anyone

Spawn was given his powers by the devil and uses them to fight evil, bad ass!

Spawn is a favorite, good job to image comics. It is like the only superhero to go to each time. - iliescu

Spawn is great here since is on own self defeating evil, and Canadian which is rare. - iliescu

19 The Human Torch
20 Punisher The Punisher is a fictional antihero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita, Sr., with publisher Stan Lee green-lighting the name.

When you need a man to get the job done; you call the Punisher. Most superheroes will throw the villains intro prison or some other magical place where they will eventually escape, obviously. So a straight out kill can do the trick any day.

punisher by garth ennis is a great read but it will destroy your confidence in humanity.

The Best Super Hero of all! No question about it. He is realistic, and I love his motives for his actions. Mostly, supperheros just kick butt to kick butt. But the punisher kicks butt for revenge. =)

Punisher is just awesome. When you first see him you think of a villain, and that (his dark side) is what makes him awesome

21 Aquaman Aquaman is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, the character debuted in More Fun Comics #73.

Nobody cares about Aquaman. Or, should I say KING Aquaman. Who can have a pleasant conversation with a great white shark without getting torn to pieces? Let's face it people, can you breath underwater or control the seas? Most likely not. Also, a whole team came together (The Others) consisting of allies of Aquaman. So, I hope at least someone reads this. Of course this is just my opinion you do not have to agree. But, does Iron Man or the Hulk have a water-blasting trident? Methinks not.

The definitive under-rated superhero. Aquaman does a lot more than simply talk to fish. He polices and is the king of the entire sea. Also his strength level is on par with Superman's and has an impressive array of allies like his sidekick Aqualad, his wife Mera, the Justice League, and of course his pet walrus Tusky.

He is so strong that he can lift a continental plate. Need I say more?

Jason Momoa was great, everything else was ehh.
I hate how the comics made him this straight white guy, it makes no sense. In the films he was better (only because Jason made him really realistic and who he was ment to be) but still kinda trash. Shame, really.

22 Vegeta Vegeta is an anime fictional character from the anime series, Dragon Ball Z, created by Akira Toriyama.

Vegeta badass Goku is strongest and vegeta has beaten him before

She is one of the most talented spies and assassins in the entire world and is a founding member of the Avengers. The character was created more.

She needs to be higher then Raven and Deadpool. Ten times more bad-ass. She literally hurled herself off a cliff and permanently DIED to save millions of people and so Hawkeye wouldn't have to do it. You can't possibly tell me that isn't noteworthy. - RosalinaX

What idiot said 'she needs to die'. She's the representation of badass female superheroes who can beat other superheroes that have powers!

How the hell is Quill lower then all the above?
He's funny and much better then Flash and Aquaman. - RosalinaX

Star Lord is the essential superhero. He is the leader of his own team, the guardians of the galaxy, for one thing. And he has an epic costume. He has more personality than batman and superman combined, and he is hilarious, but also very personal. he has 2 element guns, which are the coolest superhero items ever, AND, dur to his dad being a planet, he has superpowers of his own. And he played by Chris Pratt. Could you BE any more cool?

How he star lord this low? - DCfnaf

Legendary superhero who needs more recognition. Why can't Fox make a silver surfer movie? Why are they making a gambit move instead? Silver Surfer would beast Gambit easily. The fans want to see the Surfer instead of Gambit. Who's been around longer Gambit or The Silver Surfer? Silver Surfer.

Are you kidding me... Captain America and Goku are ahead of the Silver Surfer? The Silver Surfer is hands down the most underrated super hero of all time.

Marvel's Most Powerful Superhero along with Thor, he deserves more recognition
