Best Comic Book Anti-Heroes

The Top Ten
1 Deadpool Deadpool is a fictional antihero created by Marvel who appears in their comics. Deadpool's first appearance was in New Mutants #98 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza in February of 1991. His powers include self-healing and super strength. He is regarded as one of the funniest characters in comics due... read more

Catwoman? Really? The number of jokes Deadpool could make about a villain who acts like a cat is infinite.

I'll indulge you people for not voting for Deadpool due to the certainty that most of you don't know him or know little about him.

Deadpool is a highly trained mercenary who undergoes some crazy experiments to be cured of cancer. Though these experiments work, granting him Wolverine's regeneration (which is enhanced to insane levels in further experiments), something goes wrong, and the cancer spreads while he continues to regenerate constantly. This leads to some brain tissue issues that make him mad (and funny - funny as hell) and totally emaciated. But it also makes him dangerous as hell, as he becomes chaotically random and practically invulnerable to mind control (his brain is constantly regenerating new cells that die due to his cancer), plus stronger and faster than any human (due to his regeneration, just like Wolverine).

He is also at the top of the notch among mercenaries, which gives him access to some crazy equipment (guns, loads of guns) and even a teleportation device which he has mastered. He is an awesome sharpshooter, no matter the type of gun, but his strength lies in melee fights, where he shines in the use of swords, daggers, and other pointy stuff.

And last but best of all: he was almost killed so many times during the experiments that the cosmic entity known as Death fell in love with him. This made Thanos jealous (the big, BIG Marvel villain who was in love with Death too), and so he cursed Deadpool with immortality so he would never reach Death again. You could cut his head off, and he wouldn't die. He would just regenerate or fix himself (depending on the comic). You could lock his severed head in a bunker, and somehow he would manage to pull himself together (advantages of having Death as a love interest).

2 Catwoman Catwoman is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the superhero Batman.

Catwoman has been featured in many media adaptations related to Batman. Actresses Julie Newmar, Lee Meriwether, and Eartha Kitt introduced her to... read more

One of the most unique and intriguing anti-heroes, not to mention hot!

3 The Punisher The Punisher is a fictional antihero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by writer Gerry Conway and artist John Romita, Sr., with publisher Stan Lee green-lighting the name.

I can't blame the Punisher's vengeance on the criminals and villains who wronged good, sinless people. I like the Punisher from the Spider-Man animated series, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, and Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher in Marvel Animation, better than the live-action version of the Punisher in Marvel live-action movies.

He is more of an anti-hero than any of the others. He is unstoppable. He just kills in anger and never struggles when he is determined to do something. You automatically feel bad for him because of his family's death. He's a badass nonstop killing machine.

4 Rorschach Rorschach is a fictional anti-hero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. He first debuted in the graphic novel Watchmen, published from 1986-1987. Rorschach was created by writer Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

What?!?!?! How is he not number 1? He is dark and violent, but he believes in what's right and in the greater good. It's such a shame he gets killed in the comic, but it's even sadder in the movie.

Rorschach is the ultimate anti-hero. He is a step up from Batman, proving he will stop at nothing to save the world and stop crime in New York. By far the best on this list.

He's literally the only true badass and real hero in Watchmen despite his violent and crazy behavior.

5 Wolverine Wolverine is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men. His powers and abilities include a healing factor and his signature adamantium claws and adamantium skeleton.

Our favorite ass-kicker in Marvel comics! Plus, who the heck is Spider Jerusalem on this list? Is he a Jewish Spider-Man or what?

6 Venom Venom, or the Venom Symbiote, is an alias used by several fictional characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with Spider-Man.

All I can say is when Venom cleans house... he cleans the whole house!

This guy should be either number 1 or 2 along with Deadpool.

7 Red Hood The Red Hood is an alias used by multiple fictional characters and a criminal organization appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics.

Red Hood shows the dangers of letting vigilantism go too far. In a way, he represents what Batman could have been without the no-kill rule. Red Hood kicks butt with brutal efficiency... and looks pretty good while doing it!

Definitely deserves top 10.

19? Jason Todd, a.k.a. Red Hood, is the best anti-hero - a Batman version without morals.

8 Ghost Rider Ghost Rider is the name of several fictional supernatural antiheroes appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

I can't blame Ghost Rider's vengeance on the criminals and villains who wronged good, sinless people. I like Ghost Rider, and I prefer him in "The Final Decision," "When Calls Galactus," and "Innocent Blood," the three episodes of X-Men (TV Series), Fantastic Four (TV Series), and The Incredible Hulk (TV Series), as well as Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., instead of the live-action movie version of Ghost Rider.

Flaming chain. Penance stare. Need I say more?

Most badass anti-hero with style!

9 Deathstroke Deathstroke is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in The New Teen Titans #2.

He is the man who went up against Batman, the Teen Titans, Superman, Wonder Woman, the JLA, and won most of these fights. He is Slade Wilson, otherwise known as Deathstroke. He has a long history, beginning when he was first introduced as a hired gun to take out the Teen Titans after his son had failed. He has had a hard and tough life, from the military to his family to losing his wife and two sons. He is always able to devise a plan that will work and help him win. If you thought Batman was the master of preparation, then you haven't met Deathstroke.

10 Batman Batman aka Bruce Wayne is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and first appeared in Detective Comics #27. In film, he has been portrayed by Lewis Wilson, Robert Lowery, Adam West, Michael... read more
The Contenders
11 Spawn Spawn is a fictional character, an antihero and hellish Superhero that appears in a monthly comic book of the same name published by American company Image Comics.

Spawn is literally the definition of a true anti-hero. Unlike most of them, Spawn genuinely intends to do good and doesn't really have villainous goals, but that doesn't stop him from murdering, maiming, or mutilating people to get what he wants. Like all of them, his abilities trump those of nearly any Marvel or DC character. Best anti-hero ever!

The most badass one on this list! Todd McFarlane's Spawn stays true to the word anti-hero. A story for a mature audience, he's got tons of powers (and guns) and ends up killing both Satan and God!

12 Harley Quinn Harley Quinn is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly as a sidekick of the Joker.
13 Hit-Girl Hit-Girl is a fictional character appearing in the Kick-Ass series, published by Marvel Comics under the company's imprint Icon Comics.
14 Moon Knight Moon Knight is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin, the character first appeared in Werewolf by Night #32. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is portrayed by Oscar Isaac.
15 The Question

Definitely better than Rorschach, since Rorschach is based on The Question.

16 Morbius, the Living Vampire (Marvel) Morbius the Living Vampire, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, Ph.D., M.D., is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics.

He should have his own movie. He's awesome!

18 Judge Dredd Judge Joseph Dredd is a fictional character created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra. He first appeared in the second issue of 2000 AD, which is a British weekly anthology comic.
19 Scarlet Witch Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. She is portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She is thought to be one of the most powerful people in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and can... read more
20 Black Cat
21 Night Wing
22 Spider Jerusalem
23 The Shadow

Criminally underrated character. He's very cool.

24 Enchantress (DC Universe)
25 Hulk Robert Bruce Banner, also known as The Hulk or Bruce Banner, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and was portrayed by Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It's basically two heroes in one - two heroes who are constantly fighting each other for control and, at times, working together to save the world. The tragic monster story of the Hulk makes him so relatable and loved, even though he is so ridiculously powerful.
