Top 10 Disney Animated Movies that Most Need Remakes

It's been almost a year since I've posted the list of Disney movies that don't need remakes. And it's also been almost a year since the Lion King remake was announced. Which was my motivation for making that list. Disney remakes can be pretty pointless, but there are actually some movies that I would like to see be remade.
The Top Ten
1 The Black Cauldron

On my other list, I said that The Black Cauldron shouldn't get a live-action remake. But after thinking about it, I actually think it should! I don't see why not. The original was very forgettable, but maybe more people will appreciate it if it's done differently.

Maybe a movie like this would work better as a live-action film. All they have to do is make the characters more interesting and remove Gurgi because Gurgi is annoying! He's basically the Jar Jar Binks of the movie. If The Black Cauldron gets made into live action, it would look really cool!

2 The Hunchback of Notre Dame

I'm one of the people who says that you shouldn't remake movies that are already jaw-droppingly amazing. But The Hunchback of Notre Dame wasn't exactly a success when it came out. Quite a lot of people hated it, and there are still people who hate it.

I feel like a live-action remake could work. Plus, I'm genuinely curious to see how they would pull it off! One of my favorite things about the movie is the Hellfire scene. That scene is brilliant! It's something I would love to see in live action. This would probably be the most visually appealing of the live-action remakes if they were to do it. I really hope that someday they make a remake of this movie!

3 Hercules

Hercules is an objectively bad movie! It's terrible! I want to see it become an actually good movie, so a remake is very much needed. I can tell you right now, if it gets a live-action remake, it will automatically be better! The designs of the characters wouldn't look stupid, and some of the monsters in the animated film look terrible.

Another way they could improve the movie is by taking out the gospel songs. In fact, take out the Muses! All they're there for is to narrate through music, which is unnecessary. They could also try to add some funny jokes and make the movie a little more accurate - not 100% accurate, but accurate enough. I want to see them turn this garbage into watchable garbage!

4 Pocahontas

Pocahontas basically sucks, but I feel like they could make it a much better movie with a live-action remake. There are definitely things they could improve. They could make it a lot more suspenseful and dramatic to give it a more interesting story. Plus, I'm sure the visuals would look amazing! Since the movie is about being one with nature, the scenery would be beautiful.

I don't know who they should get to play Pocahontas, but it would have to be someone with a strong singing voice and who looks the part. I feel like this has a lot of potential to be a good live-action remake! I also hope they find a better way of showing how Pocahontas learns English instead of... Actually, I'm not going to make that joke this time out of respect for Florida.

5 The Sword in the Stone

I really hate when Disney remakes movies that are critically acclaimed and memorable, like Beauty and the Beast. That was one of the most unnecessary remakes ever made!

The Sword in the Stone, however, received mixed reactions, and a lot of people tend to forget about this movie. So a remake would be very necessary! Personally, I think the movie is pretty underrated, even though I haven't watched it in years and don't remember anything about it. But I know it has a wizard and a kid, and there's a sword in a stone that the kid pulls out. And other stuff happens.

See what I mean? I really think they should remake the movie because it's better to remake something not a lot of people know about rather than something everyone knows and praises!

6 Robin Hood

I watched this movie by accident once. It's okay, but not one of Disney's best. However, if they remade it, it could be much better! The characters don't even have to be animals - they could be humans, and the story could be slightly altered while still preserving the charm and humor of the original. I'd love to see this happen!

7 Atlantis: The Lost Empire

Atlantis: The Lost Empire is a Disney movie that doesn't get mentioned often when discussing great Disney films, likely because it was a bit underwhelming. That's exactly why it deserves a remake! The setting of the movie is stunning, and such a beautiful backdrop should be featured in a much better movie. A live-action version would likely have amazing visuals. There are so many ways to improve this film, and I really hope a remake happens!

This movie definitely needs a good remake. I love the animated version, but the ending reminds me a bit of the Titanic ending with Jack and Rose. I really love the concept, and I promise if they remade it, the ending could be as iconic as Titanic's!

8 Sleeping Beauty

No, no, no! I know there's already a Maleficent movie, but that wasn't a remake. It was a spinoff. I think it would be great if they remade the entire Sleeping Beauty movie! This movie is just okay at best, so I don't see why it shouldn't be remade.

One of my biggest issues was the lack of development for Aurora and Phillip - there wasn't any! If the movie were remade, they could probably give the characters more screen time so we could get to know them. In the animated film, they expect us to care about the characters even though we don't know anything about them.

One thing I liked about the Cinderella remake was that they developed the character of Prince Charming. They should do the same for Aurora and Prince Phillip. Plus, it would be really cool to see Maleficent turn into a dragon in a live-action film and actually be a villain! I still don't know why they're making a sequel to that awful Maleficent movie. No one asked for it!

9 The Incredibles

This and Brave are the only Pixar films that could remotely work as live-action remakes.

10 Tarzan

I hope they cast Karen Gillan or Madelaine Petsch as Jane in this one!

The Contenders
11 Treasure Planet

They should cast someone younger, like Tom Holland, as Jim Hawkins, and either Jessica Chastain or Emma Stone as Captain Amelia (or maybe Karen Gillan if you want an authentic British or Scottish accent). I suppose Martin Short could reprise his role as BEN.

12 The Rescuers

The Rescuers falls flat. There just isn't anything engaging about it, which is disappointing because the premise is quite interesting. They didn't do anything exciting with the story! A remake would make sense, as they could probably make the plot much more compelling. I thought The Rescuers Down Under was very good because it was more engaging. Since the first one was rather boring, I think they should try again. This is an older film, and things have changed since then.

13 The Fox and the Hound
14 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
15 Old Yeller
16 Oliver & Company

If they were to remake this movie, it would likely be called Oliver Twist instead.

17 Lilo & Stitch
18 The Great Mouse Detective

The Great Mouse Detective is one of the most underrated Disney movies ever made. This movie has the potential to be an incredible live-action film! It would probably be darker than the animated version, and the mice would obviously need to be CGI. But I think it could work! I'd love for kids of this generation to discover how great this movie is, especially since not many people talk about it anymore.

19 Bambi

It would be interesting if that ever happens.

20 Fantasia
21 Mulan
22 Aladdin
23 Brother Bear

I love this movie, but it has been forgotten over the years. This film definitely deserves a live-action remake!

24 The Lion King II: Simba's Pride
25 Big Hero 6
