Top 10 NFL Teams Least Likely to Win Super Bowl 59 (2025)
The offseason is here, which means everyone must prepare for the next NFL season. Some teams have a lot more work to do than others to have a shot at the Lombardi Trophy. These teams all fell way short of the ultimate goal and will have plenty of work to do to even remotely be competitive in 2024-25.
The Panthers' 2023 season needs no introduction. It was beyond awful. There are not enough negative adjectives in the English language to describe how brutally awful this team was.
Bryce Young looked like a deer in headlights, basically set up for failure. Frank Reich didn't even last the whole season. The worst part is that CJ Stroud went on to have an excellent season and won Offensive Rookie of the Year, adding further insult to injury.
They've hired Dave Canales as head coach and Dan Morgan as their new GM. The road to rebuilding will be nothing short of difficult, especially with no first-round picks to work with. Chicago owns the right to their pick thanks to that trade a year ago to acquire the first overall pick in the draft last year. 2024 will likely be yet another frustrating season for the Carolina Panthers. Not to mention, David Tepper is basically the new Dan Snyder, which is not a good thing at all. Your main goal in 2024 should be to rebuild confidence in Bryce Young. That's a good place to start.
I know the Patriots have been struggling for a few years now, but it's still surreal to see Bill Belichick not being the head coach for New England anymore. They've selected Jerod Mayo as his replacement, and he will have a lot of work to do to revive this team. Neither Mac Jones nor Bailey Zappe seems to be the right choice for quarterback.
The skill position group is one of the weakest in the league, and the defense isn't as formidable as it once was. I don't expect much from this team. Any semblance of life this team had left is now gone.
In 2020, Washington after 87 years got rid of the Redskins trademark due to it being labeled racist to native culture. It was named the Washington Football Team until February... read more
It's the dawn of a new era in Washington. Riverboat Ron clearly passed his expiration date and was justifiably fired. The Commanders have a new coach, new GM, and new management.
They also have the second overall pick in the draft and plenty of cap space. They hired Kliff Kingsbury as their new Offensive Coordinator and will likely have a new quarterback.
Dan Quinn was an okay hire. They could have done better in my opinion, but he'll have a chance to right the ship. I'm interested to see how they use all the cap space to fill the holes on both sides of the roster.
The Titans are in the midst of a lot of massive changes at the moment. Mike Vrabel is gone, replaced by Brian Callahan. Ryan Tannehill was replaced by rookie Will Levis, who showed some flashes in his rookie season.
Derrick Henry may very well be gone. The rebuild will be an uphill battle with several starters on defense set to hit the free agency market, a new offensive system, and an O-line in desperate need of an upgrade.
They will need all the help they can get, not to mention the fact that the AFC South has become a competitive division again. The Titans are clearly fourth of four right now.
After a season that was a major disappointment, LA's B team did the right thing and fired Brandon Staley. In a year where nothing went right for this team, 2024 will be a clean slate after the biggest splash hire in this coaching cycle with Jim Harbaugh coming back to the NFL fresh off a National Championship at Michigan.
The Chargers luckily have their quarterback already in place with Justin Herbert. That doesn't mean they will have an easy road to get back to relevance. Austin Ekeler was a massive disappointment, and the defense needs to be revamped completely. But given Harbaugh's previous track record, I'd say Chargers fans should be optimistic that things can only get better from here.
On the surface, the Cardinals had an abysmal 2023 season, but they were better than their record indicates. They fought hard in almost every game they played. It's important to remember they didn't have Kyler Murray for a significant amount of time.
This team could greatly improve this offseason with Kyler Murray leading the offense. There's plenty of cap space to work with, and they have two first-round draft picks. Now it's time to see how Johnathan Gannon handles the offseason and how much he can develop this team.
The Giants' 2023 season was a massive letdown, to say the least. 2022 was a promising season where they made the playoffs and won a playoff game. Brian Daboll was named Coach of the Year.
This past season only confirmed that 2022 was a fluke, and they overachieved. This past season was a slap back to reality for the G-Men.
Danny Dimes went down with an ACL tear after they made a sizable investment in him. Saquon is a free agent and may be out the door. The offensive line was the worst in the league, giving up the most sacks in the league by a country mile. They also need to revamp their receiving core. There's a lot of work that needs to be done if this team wants to improve at all.
The Falcons wasted no time getting rid of Arthur Smith after yet another disappointing season in a division that was all but ripe for the taking. The only thing he accomplished was angering fantasy football managers everywhere by not utilizing Kyle Pitts or Drake London. The Falcons have pieces here to be a playoff team.
The main problem here is the quarterback. Desmond Ridder is not the answer. He's consistently been inconsistent at best and garbage at worst. Taylor Heinicke is slightly less garbage. Raheem Morris will need a better quarterback if this team expects to be any better than the last few years.
The Russell Wilson saga has been nothing short of a disaster for Denver. The team is essentially stuck with him, or they'll have to pay him money to play for someone else. The dead cap hit would make it very difficult to field a competitive team if they cut him.
Essentially, the Broncos are in a bind. Until they make a decision on Russell Wilson's future, they'll be limited in what they can do this offseason. No matter what happens, it's a dire situation and a very slippery slope.
Chicago is in a rather unique position. They started out slow but found their stride towards the end of the season. Thanks to the trade with the Carolina Panthers, they own the first overall pick.
They can either draft the top rookie prospect in Caleb Williams and trade Fields away to a team desperate for a quarterback, from which they could get a decent return. Or, they could stick with Justin Fields and trade out of the first overall pick to acquire more picks to build around Fields. It's a big decision to make, and one that will have significant ramifications not just for 2024 but for the next few years as well.
