Worst Industrial Disasters of All Time

For all of the things industry has done for our planet, it goes without saying that disasters unfortunately happen as a part of it, some of which can be devastating. Here are the worst industrial disasters that have ever happened.
The Top Ten
1 Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster (1986)

The Chernobyl disaster of 1986 completely eradicated the city of Chernobyl to the point of it becoming a radioactive wasteland filled with abandoned buildings and nuclear waste that if you went there, you would die in approximately -100,000,000,000 milliseconds, that's how bad this disaster was. Still tragic to this day after 37 years.

2 Bhopal Gas Tragedy (1984)
3 Halifax Explosion (1917)
4 Dhaka Garment Factory Collapse (2013)

I remember hearing about this the main reason was that the lower levels of the building were designed to support 3 stories but instead it had 5 and heavy machinery only made it worse. 1,134 people died and 2,500 were injured (honestly surprised how many people survived given a five story building collapsed on them). I hope future construction companies, safety planners etc. learn from this mistake.

5 Benxihu Colliery Mine Disaster (1942)
6 Laos Hydroelectric Dam Collapse (2018)
7 Beirut Explosion (2020)
8 Courrières Mine Disaster (1906)
9 Great Molasses Flood (1919)
10 Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster (2011)
The Contenders
11 East Palestine Norfolk Southern Train Derailment (2023)
12 Oppau Explosion (1921)
13 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (2010)
