Top 10 Worst Teams of the 2019-2020 NHL Season
The 2019-2020 NHL season was a rollercoaster ride, filled with its fair share of surprises, disappointments, and underwhelming performances. While there were standout successes that delighted fans, we cannot ignore the unfortunate reality that certain teams left us shaking our heads in despair. Some teams failed to meet expectations, while others lived up to predictions of poor performance. This list aims to shed light on the top ten worst teams of the season. Regrettably, the Habs make an appearance, but hey, at least there was hope they might snag Alexis Lafrenière!
Which teams, in your eyes, were the most dismal from the 2019-2020 NHL season?

The Red Wings are on pace to have 50 points at the end of the season, which is an embarrassingly low number. I feel it's quite safe to say that they will finish last in the league. But who knows? We might be looking at the future team of Lafreniere. I hope not, as I don't need any more competition for my Habbies.
They are brutally tanking in historic numbers, giving up goals on consistent nights. It will take a little bit for the Red Wings to return to their glory days.

The Los Angeles Kings struggled in the 2019-2020 season, finishing with one of the worst records, largely due to a lack of young, exciting talent and a roster that relied heavily on veteran players, according to The Hockey News and The Hockey Writers.
While they did not intentionally tank, their roster construction was deemed conservative, lacking major offseason additions and failing to net a high-end draft pick during the previous years. This led to a limited scoring output and difficulty competing with other teams, particularly on the road, as noted by The Hockey Writers.

The Ottawa Senators were widely considered the worst team in the NHL during the 2019-2020 season. They had a poor record, finished last in the Atlantic Division, and had the worst power play in the league, struggling to score with the man advantage.
They also had difficulty preventing goals, with issues from their star players in defensive play.
It's even weirder to think that the Senators almost made it to the finals three years back, and now they're utter crap. So sad, I was hardcore cheering for them back then. The Sens would be a great fit for Lafreniere, but again, I hope that doesn't happen.

The New Jersey Devils struggled in the 2019-2020 season due to a combination of factors, including persistent injuries, a lack of strong 5-on-5 play, and a lackluster power play performance.
Even when they still had Taylor Hall at the beginning of the season, they were pretty bad. But now that they're without him, they are even worse. They've been bouncing around too much recently, but they did get some good picks in return for Hall. Let's see where they go from here.

The Anaheim Ducks were considered a struggling team in the 2019-2020 season. They finished with a poor record of 29-33-9, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year, their first time doing so since 2001-02.
Several factors contributed to their lackluster performance, including a weak offense, poor faceoff wins, and difficulties in the 1st and 3rd periods.
Anaheim is doing much worse than I expected so far this year, though they did trade Perry. It's really weird for me seeing them so low. But I'm happy. I hated them for dominating the Flames for so many years.

The Montreal Canadiens were considered a weak team during the 2019-2020 season because they set team records for most regulation losses (49), most goals against (319), fewest wins (22), and fewest points (55).
Their .335 point percentage was also the team's third-worst ever.
They had such a great start to the season. Why did it have to go so wrong? They're just way too up and down this year with an 8-game winning streak, followed by an 8-game losing streak, and then repeat. It's so annoying! But I'm pretty sure that they're out of the playoff race. The Atlantic is just way too strong. You have to be a really good team to make the playoffs in the Atlantic at the moment. I'm hoping they keep losing games and end up getting Lafreniere. I know that's major wishful thinking, but what else can you do when your team stinks? Sorry, my Habbies, but you're not doing anything this year. Go Habs Go!

The Minnesota Wild season was suspended by the league officials on March 12, 2020, after several other professional and collegiate sports organizations followed suit as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
On May 26, 2020, the NHL regular season was officially declared over, with the remaining games being cancelled. The Minnesota Wild returned to the playoffs after missing them in the 2018-19 season and faced the Vancouver Canucks in the qualifying round, losing in four games.
This one has been a long time coming. They definitely have some great talent on the team, but they just don't have enough, especially with Dubnyk not playing as well as he used to. Though, I feel in a few years they'll be back up and kicking.

The New York Rangers experienced a significant dip in performance during the 2019-2020 season, making them the worst team of the season.
This decline was due to a combination of factors, including a poor defensive structure, a decline in their elite special teams play, and inconsistent starts and finishes to games. Additionally, the team's competitive level was often questioned, suggesting a lack of effort and grit on the ice.
They're doing a bit better than I thought, but they're still doing pretty lame. Lundqvist is getting a bit too old to play like he used to, and they have lost a lot of great players over the past couple of years.

The San Jose Sharks experienced a significant downturn in the 2019-2020 season, ultimately being one of the worst teams in the league due to a combination of factors, including underperformance from key players, a weaker roster, and a struggling goaltending situation.
Now, this is by far the most disappointing team of the 2019-2020 NHL season. What is up with them? Yes, I guess Martin Jones isn't the greatest goalie, but with Karlsson, Burns, Couture, Kane, Hertl, and Meier, that's a lot of great talent. I think this is just a temporary hump for them. They'll get over it, but they better do it fast if they want to make the playoffs!

The Columbus Blue Jackets' struggles in the 2019-2020 season were multifaceted. A combination of poor drafting, inconsistent management, and a lack of deep playoff success contributed to their overall performance.
The team also faced challenges with injuries to key players, impacting their ability to compete consistently.
As of writing this, they're 17th in the league! How? I'm quite impressed, but how could it last? I don't think it will. But who knows? I just don't get how they can be doing so well after losing Bobrovsky and Panarin. I guess they do have Korpisalo. He's playing great.
