Worst Zelda Games

Every Zelda game is great in it's own unique way (except for the cdi) but there are just some you don't feel like finishing sometimes.
The Top Ten
1 Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon

I created this list and I just want to say that I did not put wind waker at the top. I think the cdi games should be at the top because those cut scenes suck and wind waker had some funny scenes like when Link got shot out of a canon and I hate to break it to wind waker haters, but great graphics don't make a great game. It's the gameplay, the music, the storyline is what matters. Plus that's what makes wind waker unique, the cel shaded/cartoon graphics were awesome

This. Game. SUCKS. And why is ocarina of time higher than triforce heros? Its not a bad game, but ocarina of time AND wind waker are higher than it. Seriously, only the CDI games should be here, unless someone really dislikes something like phantom hourglass.

Nintendo didn't actually make this game. It was made by a crappy company who also brought you Link: The faces of Evil and Hotel Mario. I can't remember the company name because no one on the face of the earth enjoys their games.

This game is by far the worst Zelda game in the series and I'm surprised that this has only about 20% of the votes. Seriously if you hate any other Zelda game then you obviously haven't played this one. Close to one of the WORST GAMES EVER

2 Link: The Faces of Evil

This games is a pile of trash. The only thing we got from it was "mah boi"

This should replace wind waker!

Gee, it sure is boring around here.

This one is worse because CDI Link is way more annoying than CDI Zelda.

3 Zelda's Adventure

I couldn't decide which CDI is the worst. They all deserve No. 1-10
About the real Zeldas from Nintendo: There is no bad game that deserves to be on this list.

I can't believe Zelda's Adventure is top 10! Seriously, this game sucks.

How is this lower than skyward sword and phantom hourglass?

Not as bad as the other two, but it's not a masterpiece either.

4 The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

First game in the series I ever played, but gamers these days think Zelda sucks because of their Call of Duty addictions, and lame asses nowadays whine about how hard this game was.

Whoever thought that the temple of the ocean king was a good idea should be slapped.

Play Spirit Tracks instead and save your money.

Underrated game, enough said...

5 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Definitely the worst I ever played. The storyline is too overdramatic for a Zelda game, there's too much crying, has the most crying scenes in the Zelda franchise, the relationship between Link and Zelda seemed ripped straight out of an anime, zelda and groose are a jerk biotch in the beginning of the game, Scrapper is always mean to Link, Fi is always saying obvious things or just being insensitive towards Link. The love story plot was just unnecessary because Zelda is not known for relying on stories or even romance. This is not Zelda and the game would probably be better off as a book, a movie with real people, or a game with completely different characters and not zelda characters.

I hate the Skyward Sword haters. Let me tell you something. Skyward Sword is better than Ocarina (not to say Ocarina is bad b/c it is great). The Z-targetting in Ocarina is crap compared to Skyward Sword. In Skyward Sword, Z-targetting always targeted on the thing I wanted, but in Ocarina, it would target the thing closest to me, not necessarily what I was facing. Also, in Skyward Sword, Z-targetting is like shifting in Minecraft; you can't fall of ledges or platforms you are standing on while using it. In Ocarina you can, which makes certain areas of the game annoying. Example: Forest Temple Stalfos mini-boss. You might accidentally fall through that hole in the center because you didn't see it.

Oh and don't even get me started on the horse controls in Ocarina. They were ass. The horse stopped whenever it got to somewhere it couldn't go, which is fine. But then it would walk backwards for 3 seconds and then let you move again. This was bad in places like Gerudo Valley where ...more

The controls were really awkward in this game, especially with the swordplay since it would swing a certain way for me instead of the intended direction I wanted it to go. The story is a rehash of spirit tracks, (seriously, go through both games and see how the premise of saving Zelda from a servant of an evil being isn't similar at all in these games.), it's one of the most linear Zelda games to date, and rarely any of the content and events feel original. The master sword spreading it's wings is a clear copy and paste of wind waker's versions. The world this game takes place in feels lifeless compared to other 3D Zelda games, where there's only one town filled with people in this game. Almost all the equipment are items from previous games with the only exceptions being the beetle and the harp (an item that's only purpose is to progress to different areas, no fast travel like the ocarina or wind waker, nothing that can actually help you like the previously mentioned items.) Overall, ...more

Dungeon design is terrible, but...
It isn't a bad game. At all. Far from it.
The bosses are amazing, the characters are unique, and the controls are not at all as bad as everyone is making them out to be. If this game has terrible controls just because of the Wii remote, then does Twighlight Princess have bad controls?
Because they both use Wii remote controls.

6 Link's Crossbow Training

Forces you to buy the "mystical" Wii Zapper...

Pop this game in your wii and prepare to face INSTANT regret.

can the Wii Zapper itself please be #1 thanks.

How on earth are Phantom Hourglass and Skyward Sword above this game?

How is Skyward Sword higher than this?

Chicken shoot with link

7 The Legend of Zelda 2: Link's Adventure

Doesn't deserve hate. People should actually pick up and play it. Lots of new secrets to find, difficulties... Now you can level up, find secret spells, find secret items such as the Hammer, the Glove, the Raft, the Flute, the Cross, and the Magical Key, and open up new pathways as you find new secrets in a new sidescrolling adventure through Hyrule.
And also, yes people, it's hard. Zelda 1 was hard. Get over it.

In my opinion this could have taken out the franchise, and its only the 2nd game!

This game is too hard.

I have this on my NES

8 The Legend of Zelda: The Four Sword

I have a deep hatred for this game not only was I not able to play by myself, but I couldn't find anyone who had this game. After looking at a walkthrough the game seems incredibly short and is set up as a stage select instead of an adventure requiring you to travel at your own pace. The only thing this game is worth getting for is the Link to the Past game that came with it. Which by the way was my favorite of the franchise.

I haven't played the GameCube version, only the anniversary version that came out on the DSI store back in 2011. It's SO BAD. It took me more than a year to complete the game once (I haven't fully completed the game yet after 6 years) due to the fairies not giving me the keys because I haven't COLLECTED ENOUGH RUPEES (3k rupees is that not enough for you)

Four toon links how can that be possible?

9 The Legend of Zelda - The Minish Cap
10 Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland

I have never heard of this game but after seeing this I will proceed to buy it without any knowledge of what the gameplay is actually like.

Why do the creators have to make a game based off of one of the most hated characters in the entire series.

Who wanted this perverted trash?

This is an awesome game.

The Contenders
11 The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Windwaker does not belong on this list, much less this spot. you hate this game that much, but have you ever played past the forsaken fortress? It's not a game. it's a true and complete work of art. Also, have you HEARD this game's soundtrack?!?! If you hate the music, then youve no common sense. this game has the most adventure of any GAME I've played in my life. say you hate the art style and the sailing's boring. first of all, there is no art style that could more beautifully portray this game. And the sailing? If you don't really like it, that's okay, but where's your sense of adventure? You can find so many treasures, islands, and even giant squids! Deny to post this comment if you want, but that won't change my opinion about how great of a game this is.

This game was way too nice to be one of the worst, the cell-shading isn't the cup of tea of everyone? I could respect that.

a remake with the Miiverse features was uncessary to begin, these two things (a good game, terrible social-gaming) wasn't a great combinaison, I prefer to enjoy a game for its adventure, not by useless applications.

Calling this game underrated is silly nowadays. This is one of the most beloved Zelda games ever made, right next to Majora's Mask, Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, and Link to the Past.

Am I the only one who thinks this game is slightly overrated (Insert gun guy meme)? Still, shouldn't be in the top ten WORST games in the series. Faces of evil definitely deserves the spot.

12 The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
13 The Legend of Zelda (Original Game On the Nes)

This game is amazing, I don't know how it got on here because it is one of the best Zelda games and anyone who hates it sucks at life.

I enjoyed this game a lot, it's a very nice introduction to the series with a world that's fun to explore.

It's good so shut up

14 The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

I thought the story in this one was amazing and creepy- almost as good as in Twilight Princess. But the graphics sucked, the game was short (four dungeons! ) and the gameplay was annoying and dumb. The masks themselve sucked. Worst Zelda game ever! (though Four Swords, Faces of Evil, Phantom Hourglass, Ghost Tracks, and Wand of Gamelon suck too. ) How did Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and Ocarina of Time get here though? Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess are two of the greatest Zelda games ever (and my personal favorites) and though Ocarina of Time is overrated, it isn't bad.

While I love Ocarina and Twilight Princess, they never really nailed the creepy atmosphere for me. They're just like: Hey! Here's a Dead Hand! Hey! Here's a ghostie! Are you scared yet? Majora however, makes creepy things more meaningful, like the end of the world and the ways of getting the transformation masks. And that moment with Pamela and her father had me in tears. It's a shame people have only heard of this game because of a stupid campfire tale.

I love this game to bits. It has such a cool atmosphere and what is the best thing about this game is the moon. Looking at moon just gives you chills and overall I think it's one of the best zelda games ever.

I didn't like this game. I found the time loop mechanic to be VERY annoying, essentially erasing all my hard work and forcing me to do things all over again.

15 Irodzuki Tingle no Koi no Balloon Trip

I believe the proper translation would be Tingle's Balloon Fight. It's just Balloon Fight but with a Zelda skin.

It's tingle from the Zelda series..

Is this a zelda game?

Yeah what game is this?

16 The Legend of Zelda: TriForce Heroes

How on earth are Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Skyward Sword, and Wind Waker higher than this? Even Zelda 1 and 2 are better than this

I regret telling my friends before triforce heroes was released that this game would be great. the people I play with online are horrible, I mean welcome to online multiplayer I guess. single player is worse. you have to have switch and carry the creepy looking link doll things. its tedious and boring. the music and graphics are nice but UGH. play it with your friends, its much more fun, but you have to have "two other friends" to play with you. you can't have one other friend and you can't have 3 other friends, just you and two other friends. oh yeah I forgot the story. the story is about this princess who is princess styla who rules this fashion obsessed kingdom known as hytopia, who was tricked into wearing an ugly jumpsuit and there has to be 3 chosen heroes to go murder the witch for giving the ugly jumpsuit to the princess and save hytopia from being cursed. this is like a story a little girl who loves to play with barbie or would make up. the costumes aren't bad they are ...more

I just don't have friends..

That game sucks.

17 The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks

This game sucks very bad. really your known as the hero of trains and you don't even have the green clothes Any more!

How is spirit tracks worse than phantom hourglass?

Terrible game with little to no motive.

The great zelda handheld

18 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

To all people flipping out over why Link to the past, Ocarina of time, and wind waker, are on the list: pretty much ALL Zelda games are on this list, but it's ranking then from WORST (being 1) to BEST.

Get this, Twilight Princess, and Skyward Sword off of the list. Never played Majora's Mask or Wind Waker, but most people seem to like it, so get them off the list too.

This game makes the High Fructose Adventures of the Annoying Orange look like the first three seasons of Spongebob.

The 2% of people who voted this clearly are haters who have never even put this game in there 3ds, gamecube, etc.

19 The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

It isn't a bad game, but for me, it destroyed a Link to the Past, now everyone plays lbtw. And believe me, I'm not Egoraptor who is stuck with the classics, I love skyward sword (and oot, and botw, and mm, and wind waker... Tp didn't stand out for me

Are you kidding? This is a great game!

This game is best!

Ocarina of time and link between worlds don't deserve to be here

20 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Dark, but...
Not unique. No characters to write home about like in Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker...
The items are extremely bland, and the infamous beyblade item is usable only in its own dungeon. The Dungeons do use some pretty good backtracking..
But the wolf form idea is an okay idea on paper, but to be honest, personally, I had no fun while playing through the wolf sections.

However, one of the coolest moments for me was when I was trekking through a dungeon and came across a empty room with a giant sword in the middle. I walked to it, and suddenly it floated up and swung at me. I proceeded to dodge it wondering what to do until I remembered that Wolf Link can see ghosts- So I change to the wolf form and see a large ghostly figure... Then the boss name came up. "Death Sword".
This was a brilliant use of tension and build up, and to be honest, was really memorable.
HOWEVER, overall, I would only give this game a 68%. Very average.

TP isn't the worst Zelda game, but it's my least favorite of Zelda's "top games". I think the problem is that the game tried to be as epic and revolutionary as OoT and MM, but in the end feels a sameness in a darker tone. The world to explore feels very empty, and the villains were Meh. And people will hate me now, but I didn't find Midna an extraordinary character. She's overrated. I found her more annoying and intrusive than Navi. Yes, I like Navi more, believe you or not. Link wolf was MEH! - and here many fans can agree. If I want a epic Zelda, I'll go OoT, If I want a dark Zelda, I'll go with MM. TP will never be my first choice. I repeat, TP isn't the worst game of all, it's just the "A" game that less captivated me.

While not being a BAD game, it fails to capture the essence of what Zelda should be. With bland graphics, forgettable characters and a sound-track that only survives because it rides on the back of its predecessors, it killed everything that The Wind Waker and Majora's Mask gave the franchise.

Best selling Zelda ever.
And Skyward Sword was the fastest selling and would be best selling had it not been sold at the end of the Wii's life.
Goes to show that the Wii Zeldas were the best and people hated them because now there are Zeldas better than precious Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker.

21 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Master Quest)

Ocarina of Time is the best Zelda game, and a lot of people can agree. But Master Quest, oh god. The puzzles are insanely stupid. Stalfos everywhere, poking things with your hookshot as a "puzzle", and downright annoying dungeons.

22 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Its not a Zelda game. They tried to do open world yet it felt dated. Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion legitimately does things better than this game. Maybe if it came out in 2000 it might of been good for its time. Put this towards Witcher 3 and Red Dead 2. Yes you can compare them as this is supposed to be an open world game. Yet its empty and just pointless to play after the divine beasts and ganon.

This doesn't feel like a Zelda game at all. It's like Skyrim with Fortnite's graphics. Zelda games shouldn't be open world. The reason I like Zelda games so much is because of the storylines, characters and unique dungeons. Breath of the wild doesn't have any of this.

This is arguably one of, if not the, very best video games ever made. Some people don't like it because the map is too big, you have to pay for Epona, the weapon durabillity is trash, and multiplayer doesn't exist.

Still, even though it has faults, don't vote for it.

This game doesn't feel like a Zelda game at all. To me it just felt like Skyrim with fortnite's graphics. This doesn't even have a memorable storyline.

23 The Legend of Zelda: The Ancient Stone Tablets
24 The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
25 The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)

Who voted this...?
