Video Game Series With the Best Music
It's like SEGA's thought pattern is, "Let's spend less time working on the actual games and instead focus on the music!" Not at all to say the games are bad - although some are not the best - but the music is always downright AMAZING! All Sonic fans can agree that the music is good no matter what the game is. Also, Sonic is one of the few franchises that actually has lyrical music in almost every game. It's a pretty big feat to pull off, but SEGA succeeds!
SEGA's music game is on point every. Single. Time! What I'm Made of, Sonic Heroes, Escape from the City, Live and Learn, I Am... All of Me, Knight of the Wind, Reach for the Stars, Endless Possibility, Seven Rings in Hand, Never Turn Back, All Hail Shadow, Dreams of an Absolution, His World, Fist Bump, and Green Light Ride. And that's just scratching the surface of all the lyrical Sonic songs! Never lose your touch with your music, SEGA!
The music is wacky and fun. Super Mario Bros. had fantastic music, and then in all the other Mario games - Mario World, 3D Land, Mario Bros. 3, just to name a few - the music is what makes a Mario game. This deserves to be number one, hands down.
Classic. Every Mario game has great music. From Mario Galaxy onward, they used a live orchestra, and it is truly something to behold.
Mario's got the tunes you'll randomly begin humming without even realizing you're doing it.
Catchiest music ever. I think Miyamoto is superhuman because The Legend of Zelda is perfect. Compared to Zelda, Mario is a piece of crap in terms of quality.
I think Zelda should be number one for music because there is something strange and special about it, and I can feel it.
The best of the best, in my opinion. The series has covered an incredible range of music, and even within individual games, there's a song for any mood you're in. The role music plays in the games, through the ocarina, the Wind Waker, etc., elevates it to a whole new level.
I like the main theme in Ultimate. It's very beautiful, but not as good as Zelda.
Come on, guys! How has this not been added yet? From the cheerful Pokémon Center music to the creepy Lavender Town theme, this series has the best soundtrack of all time!
So many great OSTs. While Sword and Shield kinda sucked, the soundtrack was an absolute banger, and Gen 5's was flat-out amazing.
The wide variety of songs in the Pokémon franchise ranges from upbeat and fun to creepy and gloomy. It's very exciting and well-written! 7/10.
Sure, other franchises have good music, but Castlevania is defined by it. Castlevania III even included a second sound card in Japan to do the music justice. Haunted Castle is remembered fondly for introducing some of the best themes, despite being one of the worst arcade games in history.
Ocarina of Time doesn't even use the Zelda theme.
Definitely some of, if not the best, music I've ever heard in a video game. Castlevania games are filled with amazing music that makes you want to go through Dracula's castle and whip the big bad man himself back to his grave.
Halo is really great because it challenged what one would think of as sci-fi shooter music. By Halo 2, everything was recorded live, and the soundtrack is truly amazing from that point on. Halo 3: ODST goes even further, incorporating elements of jazz into a sci-fi shooter.
How is Halo not number one? It has the most awe-inspiring and chill-inducing music of all time.
I consider this series different from the classic series. While very different from the jumpy melodies of the classic series, this series goes for a more rock-oriented sound, which fits well with the darker tone of the games.
Almost every game has a god-tier soundtrack. Mega Man 3, Mega Man 4, Mega Man & Bass (GBA), Mega Man 9, Mega Man 10, every Mega Man X game, Mega Man Zero 2, Mega Man Zero 3 (personal best soundtrack in any game), Mega Man ZX, and Mega Man Battle Network 3 are the best examples.
This should be number one. All of these other series have good music, but I think they can't even compare to Mega Man. Sonic and Zelda are close, but Mega Man is the best.
From the depths of Brinstar to another fight with a dubious doppelganger, Metroid's music continuously encompasses the mystery and action of the franchise.
Absolutely stunning in every entry. The music truly encompasses the situation, environment, and story every second of the game.
Come on, this is the god of soundtracks!
The main theme of the series is the most emotional song I've ever heard, and the same goes for the rest of the soundtrack.
Are you kidding me? This series' music is awesome!
Unrivaled in terms of setting an atmosphere, The Elder Scrolls has the most vibe-y soundtracks out there. I think it being less in-your-face than your average game OST leads to it being somewhat overlooked, but it excels at what it does.
I think the main strength of this soundtrack is establishing an atmosphere. It is great to put on in the background of something.
The Undertale soundtrack is the best! Some of the music is so iconic (like Megalovania) that even people who don't know the game recognize it! A lot of the songs carry a whole heap of emotion, such as Hopes and Dreams. Other pieces of music just have really catchy tunes like Ghost Fight. Overall, Undertale's music is great!
Every melody written for this game is just perfect. Every instrument that plays the melodies is just the right one. The smart usage of leitmotifs makes for an emotional masterpiece in Undertale's soundtrack. It is just perfect.
Why is this so low? The theme music will pop into my head, and I can't get it out because it is so good.
Why is this so low?! I keep humming Otherside and dancing to Pigstep! The old music was, to be honest, kind of bad, but the new ones are slightly better. Still, Minecraft music is the GOAT.
