"No Offense" - A Maddening Expression

Songsta41 I'm sorry if I come off too angry here, I'm just passionate about this. I'm not trying to control your life. But I seriously suggest that you consider if you don't already agree with me that you shouldn't say no offense, you should take what I'm saying here into consideration.

No offense is one expression I hate so much. i don't know who came up with it, because it's pretty much just an excuse for people to get off scot-free with saying something they shouldn't. They say "no offense", while what that really means is "I'm going to say something that will offend you, but don't get mad at me for offending you". I mean OF COURSE I'm going to get mad at you! It's not like you're wearing a shield and I just won't tell you about how you were being a bit of a jerk. I mean I get some things have to be said, and if you don't say "no offense", than it shows you probably didn't mean to offend them, you were just telling them something for their own good. If no one did that, we would have many fewer close-to-perfect people in the world. But by saying no offense, you are telling them that you're going to offend them, so instead of them having a realization about their ways, they will just get mad at you for saying what you said. They won't improve and they will hold a grudge against you for saying it. So please, the next time you are deciding how to break something to someone don't you DARE tell them no offense!
