Egnomac's Loud House Episode Review Season 2 Episode 23A Read Aloud

egnomac Season 2 Episode 23A Read Aloud, The Family embarks on a reading challenge at the library with the prize being a private party at Spunk E. Pigeon's but Lola is the only one who refuses to participate.

The episode starts with Lincoln telling his family about the library having a reading contest where the family that reads the most books will win a private pizza party at Spunk E. Pigeon's Pizza Palloza Paradise (which is clearly based on Chuck E Cheese and ShowBiz Pizza Palace). Everyone is excited except for Lisa who is worried about her overdue fines and Lola who is down right unhappy as they make their way to the library while chanting "SPUNKY PIGEON!" then when they arrive they chant loudly "The Library" until the librarian Molly Wetta shushes them to be quit which they do as they scatter to get the books. Moments later Lisa shows up with some books while wearing a disguise including a ten gallon hat and mustache as Wetta suspicious tells her she looks familiar as Lisa in a stereotypical southern accent denies her claim, the rest of the family show up with an enormous amount of books as Wetta calls for backup. When they return home they find that Lola did not check out a single book and flat out refuses to take part in the reading challenge as Lincoln points out that every member of the family has to participate in order to win the pizza party but Lola doesn't care, worried that Lola is going to blow their pizza party Lucy suggest they lock her up in the attic and tell the librarian that she never existed and that Lana pretend she has a split personality which is a bit extreme as Lynn Sr. points out as Rita tells him there's free pizza at stake, Lincoln comes up with a better alternative by trying to get Lola to see that reading isn't boring as Rita agrees it makes more sense then whispers to Lucy "Just in case keep your chains handy".

Everyone tries to get Lola to read using their favorite type of books but this fails as Lincoln realizes that instead of trying to get her to read their books they should try to get her to read books that she would like however this too proves to be difficult as Lola continues to resist with the contest ending tomorrow Lincoln forces Lola to read one the books as she reluctantly agrees to. The next day the Louds arrive at the library to report that they read 260 books putting them in the lead with the Yates at 23 but before librarian Wetta can make it official she gives them a little book by book quiz to make sure they actually read the books, everyone passes their quiz but when its time for Lola to answer she confesses that she didn't read the book and because of it the Louds are out of the contest causing everyone gets upset at Lola as she screams that she didn't want to do the contest in the first place . Though they are out of the contest Lincoln assures them they have 2 hours left till the contest ends but Lori tells him its no point if Lola won't participate as he assures them he can get her to read one book by then. The rest of the family leave as Lincoln and Lola are left behind as he tries to get to the problem of why she won't read at least one book and Lola responds by saying the reason she doesn't want to participate is because she doesn't like pizza which is obviously false even Lincoln isn't convinced as we get a flash back of Lola liking pizza plus the episode "Fed Up" where the kids sabotaged dinner so dad would order them pizza.

Losing his patience he tells her she's letting the family down by not participating but Lola still refuses to budge as she says good luck getting her back in, moments later Lincoln has her on a cart as he pushes her back in the library as she screams and orders her to read the princess book right in front of him Lola distracts him as she runs away as Lincoln chases her, he finally manages to corner her but Lola isn't going down without a fight as the two scuffle as Lincoln asks her is it that hard to read one measly book as Lola confesses that it's too hard for her to read so she never does but really wants to, seeing the situation Lincoln offers to teach her as Lola points out she's very slow and they don't have a lot of time as they only have one hour as he tells her they'll get through it together. They then go to the study room though Lola struggles Lincoln helps her, moments later Lola notices that its 5 and panics as the contest has ended but Lincoln tells her to forget about that and keep reading. Lola finally finishes as she happily thanks Lincoln for helping her out, as they are leave the room they are confronted by the family who are irate that he lost the contest for them as he lies saying that he fell asleep but Lola confesses telling them that reading was hard for her but thanks to Lincoln she now loves reading as the family apologize to them for not being understanding as Lola apologizes to them for costing Spunk E. Pigeon for them as Rita assures her that doesn't matter now as Lisa adds the important thing is she is now able to enjoy the wonders of literacy as she takes off her disguise as librarian Wetta instantly recognizes her as she still has several fines as Lisa immediately bails. Back home the family depressed over losing the contest watch an ad for Spunk E. Pigeon's as Leni points out the commercial is so realistic she totally smells pizza as everyone else begins to smell it as well which leads them to Lola and Lana's room and find Lola making pizzas using several mini ovens as she explains now that she can read and because they missed out on Spunk E. Pigeon she decided to make pizza for all of them, as everyone minus Lisa begin enjoying Lola's pizzas even saying its better then Spunk E. Pigeon's when they hear a commotion outside and look out the window to find Lisa still running from librarian Wetta as she taunts her saying she's never catch her as Wetta shouts for her to come back as she owes her 50,000 dollars in fines.

This is a great episode for both Lincoln and Lola with Lincoln being a great brother helping her out after learning she has trouble reading and offers to teach her knowing that it means that it would cost them the contest and after that he even sticks up for her after the family get angry for them losing the contest and even bigger props to Lola who stands up for him explaining to the family how she had trouble reading but because of Lincoln she is finally able to and because of that she was able to make pizza for them all because Lincoln helped her, it's also speculated that Lola may have dyslexia due to her having a hard time reading but back in the season 1 episode "Ties That Bind" she was able to read the message Lincoln spelled out in chocolate chip and Lincoln even says to her "You can read". Another memorable moment is Lisa disguising herself to avoid librarian Wetta from recognizing her even though it was clear it was Lisa and at the end after Wetta recognizes her she chases after her as Lisa happily runs off taunting her along the while as Wetta claims she owes the library 50,000 dollars in fines which is very unlikely as fines are generally not uncapped but reach a maximum value. The only part I really didn't like was how the family got all angry at Lincoln for losing them the contest its not like they really did anything to help Lola to read but its a nitpick, overall its a GOOD EPISODE. Little trivia Grey DeLisle/ Griffin who voices Lola, Lana, and Lily considers this one of her favorite episodes, Spunky E. Pigeon's Pizza Palooza Paradise is a possible parody of not only Chuck E. Cheeses but ShowBiz Pizza Palace which was later re branded as Chuck E. Cheeses.
