Top 10 Most Meaningful Songs

This list is based off of pure meaning and lyric's that go deep into your soul.

The Top Ten

1 Imagine - John Lennon

This is for sure the most meaningful song on the list. If you imagine the world that we live in like the world John Lennon is telling us to imagine it like, its perfect. The world that we live in is cruel, full of hate, racism, murder, and war. The world that John Lennon sings is tells us how we should want the world to be. In his song there is world peace, and everyone is living together as one people sharing the world. If you listen to the song and imagine the world how he says you would know that I'm right. R.I.P. John Lennon

It's realistic, overall something people need to realize. It covers violence issue and I don't understand while people judge, this will go into that also, it's more then just a songs it's a meaningful poem about realistic life things.

Such a very beautiful and meaningful song. It's so truthful and lovely, his words are inspirational and honest. Let's all live in harmony and unity, to come together as one and become. This is a beautiful song that everyone needs to listen too. Tears come to my eyes when this song is played, it's so true. The world is filled with hate and anger and pain. If only the clouds would float away and people would only have the sun Maybe then we would start realizing the good factors and all of the things that we have. What are we doing to this earth? John talks about political, governmental and no countries, no heaven or hell- But what happened to deforestation and we have upset the the balance of the planet also. John was a decent man, and so I thank you John Lennon for your outspoken personality and how you gave us all something to think about, with your words of inspiration. <3 Love ya' man.

This song is realistic it tells about the truth not some made up fantasy that you can only dream about this is real

2 How to Save a Life - The Fray

I really love this song. I've suffered with depression for four years and nobody believes that I do so I can't get help. I've thought about committing suicide more times than I can count and this song, as well as music in general, made me want to live. I credit this song with saving my life.

This song has got me through some dark times over the years especially when I want to kill myself and when no one believed nor cared that I was suffering depression. I would put this song on repeat while I slept and in the morning I would feel happy. The lyrics are so powerful.

I felt something deep about this song just by listening to it. Then I looked up the lyric meanings and boy was I moved. The writing is just heart wrenching and makes you question your existence as a friend or relative. Although I've never had any substance-abused friends, I feel ashamed for having looked down on and isolating people who I've met and have been addicts. Also, this song doesn't just apply to drug addiction, it can be for almost anything that someone can't help doing and others don't approve of. Ah! Made my day. Plays on repeat.

Yes I agree with most I have had depression or I still have it, for all I know I understand things a average person would not like cave paintings but that isn't the subject. for all we know this could save a life.

This song needs to be higher on the list. There is so much meaning within the song that one can't interpret all of the thoughts within.

This absolutely fabulous song at least should be second on this list not fourth

5 Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson

It just gives one of the greatest messages of life, "change yourself and the world will look a better place"

Energy combined with love, honesty and good will. After the very beginning, striking with decency, he starts praying in remorse, shouting for justice and ends in intimacy. I love it!

JB, what the heck!
Now, to be honest, I was never really a big fan of MJ, but this song is just so meaningful, his best!

6 Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

Yes please. This song is so true. If you just don't know what to do and you're walking down the path of destiny with no one to guide you, no one beside you and you're lost, then this song is for you. When you lose hope and everything seems to be going wrong, listen to this song and you'll relate. You'll know you're not alone, that there are people who understand out there. Who knows, maybe someday you'll find someone who understand you and accept you for who you are. That is what this song stands for, what it preaches. And it doesn't hurt that the beat and tune of this song are addicting. I love this song so much. It deserves a much higher ranking.

Amazing song. Why isn't this in top 10? I'm disappointed with you guys.

I mean it's Green Day... and this is definitely one of there best songs. Lyrical depth that really puts in words the feeling of being lost in life alone and confused not knowing where to go or what to do. It's a song that I feel everyone can relate to at least a little bit at some point in their life and that really comes with a sense of understanding. It's just a good song that is great to listen to at any time. 10 out of 10 for sure. If you haven't listened to it you need to.

What I do really need to say is that nearly all of the green day songs have such meaningful and deep lyrics, you can feel the thrust while listening to them. Get these guys higher

7 Radioactive - Imagine Dragons

Radioactive is a great song. Very relatable. Imagine Dragons is an underrated band. They incorporate so much meaning into their songs. In this song, the meaning is loud and clear. And the way they've presented it and the dark yet somewhat upbeat rhythm compliments the song well. One of the songs I like best by them is Monster. Now that should be in the Top 10 of this list. Like the line 'If I told you what I was, would you turn your back on me? ' and the paragraph

'Can I clear my conscience, if I'm different from the rest/Do I have to run and hide? /I never said that I want this/ This burden came to me/ And it's made its home inside.

And their beats and rhythm and overall vibe is just so great. I like how much meaning is put into the lyrics, that's what I like best about this band.

The lyrics to this song have so much depth, just by reading them anyone can see the message that is ment to get across. Its intense!

From a musical perspective, this band (Imagine Dragons) does a remarkable job of: incorporating the bass, changing dynamic (how loud a section is played) and emphasizing parts of this song. It gets your heart racing, and urges you to turn it up loud. This is exactly what a revolution should do. Kudos

Possibly the best song I have ever heard.

8 Hell Above - Pierce the Veil

Pierce the veil really put meaning into their lyrics and express their feelings through songs, I hate it when people put labels such as 'emo or goth or screamo' if they listened to what the music were about then they'd actually understand.

This band makes music that's relatable unlike other artists such a Justin beiber or Nikki minaj, no disrespect but what's so special about the words 'baby baby baby oh like baby baby baby oh' and Nikki's lyrics 'beez in the trap bee beez in the trap' like what do they even mean?

They've helped so many people through so much it's unbelievable and they don't follow society's idea of perfect or normal and that encourages people all over the world to speak up and not be afraid to be themselves and not be ashamed of who they are, in my eyes Pierce The Veil are true idols and heroes...

Pierce The Veil is a very inspiring band. They helped me through a lot in the past and they deserve to be voted. I will never stop listening to them. And for the people who judge rock/metal, it isn't "screamo" you don't even listen to the lyrics. Those lyrics speak out to people who are going through what the song is describing. Don't judge what you don't understand.

Not only is Pierce The Veil an amazing band, they're all really down to Earth. I met them at the World Tour, and they did great live. This song was the opener and it was amazing live. You could tell this song held a special place to Vic (The lead singer if some of you don't know) and that's honestly the best part about the band. It's wonderful knowing these words hold a meaning to them, and that we can all relate to them in one way or another. Never judge Pierce The Veil by their style, they're one of a kind.

I listened to this song for the first time and I can't believe I haven't come across it on the radio, it's just a great song combined with great lyrics

9 Wings - Macklemore

This Song is more than beautiful and it shows off how cruel society became. Everybody cares about being popular and rich even though that's totally not important. Great lyrics.

This Song is more than beautiful and it shows off how cruel society became. Everybody cares about being popular and rich even though that's totally not important. Great lyrics.

This song is great Because what he's singing about is true I've been through things like that and I think it should be a bit higher on the list

I've loved this song for so long and every time I listen to the lyrics of the song it shows me so many point of this century and memories of me trying to fit in and now that I actually have good shoes I notice that they are not why I have friends

The very first time I listened to this song, I was also watching the video. I cried. This song is so emotional and it shows just how screwed up society has become. I think this song should've been more up on the list.

This song is great Becuse what he's singing about is true I've been through things like that and I think it should be a bit higher on the list

This song is not just a song but poetry in motion. Such a deep meaning behind the song, I can not get bored of it.

10 Angel - Jackie Evancho

Pretty heavy stuff for the young lady but she melts your heart when she sings it. - BobG

This is not her song. It is from the soundtrack of "City of Angels." The song was performed by Sarah McLachlan. - sray

This song comes into my head regularly,
Jackie's version is outstanding!

Great song sung by the most beautiful voice in the world. Jackie is now only 15 what great thing will she do in the next 5 to 10 years? Wait and see.

Her song is so good but she's so young.

11 Family Portrait - Pink

This is a very emotional song about families and arguments between parents
I'm sure it will relate to a lot of people

When I listened to the lyrics of this song, it made me cry. I have been going through similar issues, my parents constantly fighting, and it's clear that don't love each other anymore. My brothers and I are the only thing keeping them together and I just want to be a happy family again.

This is the most meaningful song it share things that kids go through all the time the struggles they face

Who doesn't love this song? It's the definition of emotion!

12 We are the World - Michael Jackson

One of the most meaningful song I've ever listening to

This song truly makes me feel that God is up above there in heaven. Michael was an instrument of nature, a prophet in music. He even said that he remembers praying to God and thanking him for putting this wonderful melody in his head. This song proves that love conquers all, and that it is "the greatest gift of all."

I listen to all types of music and can't remember one song that brought more people together to sing as one voice for one reason the betterment of every man woman & child on earth

It's one of the most excellent songs of the King of Pop :0

17 Seize the Day - Avenged Sevenfold

Their songs are the best. I promise you that there are not like others, they're unique in their way. The first time I heard this song was a few years ago and I instantly fell in love with even though I don't like the genre. But as I listen to it more, I realised that bands like them write good lyrics. Some of them help people who are in suicidal.

Amazing song... Should be a lot higher... - sam117

Time is the only thief we can get justice against. This song taught me to SEIZE THE DAY

18 Second and Sebring - of Mice& Men

This song is so relatable due to my grandma dying and my first tattoo will the '&' with the lyrics 'this is not what it is only baby scars, I need your love like a boy needs his mothers side' on my leg over my scars. My grandma was like my mother.

Very amazingly touching song and a band that I personally listen to every day. The songs about the death of his mother and is honestly something you'd never forget.

Of Mice and Men is so inspiring! Lyrically I can relate to so many songs.
"I hope you smile when you look down on me" If that's not meaningful then I don't know what is.

That film was an absolute stinkpiece 1/10

I can't BELIEVE that this isn't in top 10! This song is beautiful and amazing in so many ways. Very meaningful and got me through a lot, just listen to the lyrics and you'll see what I mean. This song is very Powerful and me and my family sing this song together over and over! IT'S AMAZING! Top 10 please!

Something that makes you think..

Wow... the story behind this song... extremely deep song, this should be higher up the list.

21 Earth Song - Michael Jackson

We gotta stop killing things.. And thatz what the song is all about...

Level of awesomeness is at its apex!

This song explains how the world is falling apart as we know it, and it's all our fault. Worst part is that we are completely oblivious of what we are doing.

The worst part is the fact that we DO know what we are doing, and have done, yet we don't stop.

I really like this song because people are killing so much of our wonderful earth, and I think that's really unfair! WE NEED TO STOP KILLING THINGS!

22 Fiction - Avenged Sevenfold

Last words written and sang by the man called Jimmy O'Sullivan before he died. Respect

23 Into the Sky - Black Tide
24 Numb - Linkin Park

This song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of not living up to other people's expectations and thinking you're not good enough. Personally, I've been pushed so hard and it always seems as if the dreams my parents have for me are their own. I want to pursue music and my parents want me to focus on academia. Listening to this song helps me realize that I'm not the only one who's gone through this and it gives me strength to do what I want for myself rather than what others want from me.

This song has described me perfectly over the years. "I'm becoming this/All I want to do/Is be more like me/And be less like you" (part of this song's chorus) It has suited me, and it hasn't changed.

This is actuallly a very relatable song to people in high school and college that don't know what they want to do with their life but their parents pressure them into doing what they want them to do ex: "All I want to do, is be more like me and be less like you! And I know I may end up failing too, but I know you were just like me with someone disappointed in you! "

Gucci gang is litttly

25 If Everyone Cared - Nickelback

The lyrics to this song are just... I can't describe. This song gives me the chill. "If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride. Then we'd see the day when nobody died. "

Oh my gosh, I love this song! I recently heard a song by Nickelback on Pandora, and it took me back to when I was young. It's depressing how the best bands with real messages in their songs aren't on the radio anymore. That includes Nickelback, The Fray, Daughtry, and LIfehouse. There are a lot more though.

Its such a great and powerful song, I love how Chad kroeger sings this song. I recommend that everyone should at least listen to this song

I like this song a lot

26 Swing Life Away - Rise Against

This song has helped me through times in my life where I felt worthless and like continuing day by day was pointless. I mean, you're born, you go to school to get a job, you get a job to pay for retirement, you spend a decade doing stuff you should have done when you were younger and then you die. You get buried and then digested by worms and fungus. It all seemed hopeless. Then I heard this and it made me feel stronger. It pushed me through the block in my life and should definitely be in the top 10.

Just amazing

27 A Match Into Water - Pierce the Veil

This song is actually about Vic Fuentes' ex girlfriend but a lot of people love the first few sentences. It talks about scars on someone's skin. Now this could be seen as from after a operation or from self harm. Vic anyways shows that you are still beautiful and he doesn't want to loose you.

This truly is such a beautiful song, it has helped me so much when I'm feeling unimaginably depressed, the artists have put so much feeling and honesty into this song along with every other song they have made Pierce The Veil has honeslty helped me through so much.

Amazing song, the lyrics are so pure and raw. There's no sugar coating, excellent musicians.

I always cry when listening to this

This is a beautiful song about love that lasts forever, featuring soaring vocals by then-14-year-old Jackie. From the album "Awakening." - BobG

29 Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd

The definition of a classic, beautiful and meaningful song

30 Can You Feel My Heart - Bring Me the Horizon

This song is very touching and Bring me the horizon is just an amazing band all together. It's definitely worth listening to.

This song is about admitting you have a problem. Admitting something's wrong. Oliver Sykes, the lead singer, had to admit that he had a problem with drugs. Some teens have to admit this too and some have to admit they have a mental problem. That is why this song is meaningfull.

The part with, "I'm scared to get close, and I hate being alone" just makes me want to cry.

31 Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Bohemian is easily one of the best classic rock songs of all time and, quite possibly, one of the best songs of all time. It might be just me, but if you listen to this song with Freddie Mercury's sexuality in mind and the fact that this was in 1975, it really seems like a story about his struggles. This song deserves to be at least in the top ten.

I love this song as much as the next guy, but it is completely meaningless. Freddie Mercury himself has said multiple times he made the lyrics up. - TheStargazer

I do not agree. Everyone says it is the best song, but its lyrics do not mean that much. - lovefrombadlands

This song has a very deep meaning that apparently many people can’t hear. Such a great song

34 Afterglow - Nine Lashes
35 Lose Yourself - Eminem

Lyrically amazing, Eminem doesn't waste time and says exactly what he wants to say. His lyrics talk about how hard his life back in Detroit was and how he has one shot to live a better life

This song has gotten me through my hardest times. Eminem definitely knows how to bring the tears out of me in the realest way possible.

Very deep meaning to the song. The words just hits me straight in the heart and mind. Singing about how you have a chance to make things right.

You better lose yourself in the music, the moment - lovefrombadlands

36 Imaginer - Jackie Evancho
37 Clocks - Coldplay

A beautiful song with lyrics that are more than skin deep... With hidden meanings and a melody that is hauntingly beautiful, this song should be higher up on the list

Mesmerizing, beautiful piece of artwork

38 How Long Will I Love You - Ellie Goulding
39 Time - Pink Floyd

And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun
And you run and you run
To catch up with the sun
But it's sinking
Racing around
To come up behind you again
The sun is the same
In a relative way
But you're older
Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death
Extraordinary Lyrics, time passes us by and we don't even notice it

This song always makes me cry! The lyrics are so mesmerizing, that sometimes I reflect upon myself and think of all the time I wasted in my life. Guitar solo also rocks!

This is an extraordinary song by an extraordinary group. Hey You is also a very very meaningful song too. - fireinside96

42 They Don't Care About Us - Michael Jackson

This song just shows that no matter what they say (the government) they care for no-one. Don't trust politicians, and don't trust easily.

Such an inspiring song. Just goes to show that the illuminati and the government shouldn't be trusted

This is an amazing song

All I wana say is that they don't care about us.

43 Don't Go - Bring Me the Horizon

44 2 Become 1 - Spice Girls
45 The Climb - Miley Cyrus

It's a very good song especially for funerals because when I first saw this video clip I thought that she wrote and sung the song because someone she loved has past away.

My mom dedicated this song to me because I've been though so much stuff in my short 13 years. I do NOT get how this song is #34. It sould be in the top 10. It has helped me through so much stuff.

46 American Pie - Don McLean

Many people don't realize what event this song refers to, and they don't realize what this song is about, and how sad it actually is.

So many references, which when thought upon, has (to many people) a lot of truth. All of this is beautifully conducted within a melodic song

This song is about the accident of three great singers, The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens. It's really good!

I am ashamed of this list. This should be much higher. The fact that this list is filled with Michael Jackson and this is only at 46 is awful.
