Top 10 Most Meaningful Songs

This list is based on pure meaning and lyrics that go deep into your soul.

The Top Ten
  1. Imagine - John Lennon

Such a beautiful and meaningful song. It's truthful and lovely. His words are inspirational and honest. Let's all live in harmony and unity, coming together as one.

This is a song everyone needs to hear. Tears come to my eyes when this song plays because it resonates so deeply. The world is filled with hate, anger, and pain. If only we could focus on the good and appreciate what we have.

What are we doing to this Earth? John speaks of political and governmental issues, envisioning a world without countries, heaven, or hell. But we also need to address issues like deforestation and the imbalance we've created on the planet. John was a remarkable man, and I thank him for sharing his thoughts and inspiring us. Love you.

  2. How to Save a Life - The Fray

I felt something deep about this song just by listening to it. Then, I looked up the lyric meanings, and I was deeply moved. The writing is heart-wrenching and makes you question your existence as a friend or relative.

Although I've never had any substance-abused friends, I feel ashamed for having looked down on and isolating people whom I've met and who have been addicts. This song doesn't just apply to drug addiction. It can be for almost anything that someone can't help doing and others don't approve of. It made my day and now plays on repeat.

I have been bullied countless times, especially in elementary school. At that age, such experiences leave lasting scars. This song not only captures how I felt but also encourages putting an end to hatred in the world.

It's relatable not only to those who have been bullied but to anyone who has had a bad experience. The song also emphasizes helping those who are suffering, rather than passively watching their pain.

  3. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

The guitar riff is very satisfying to listen to. Additionally, the lyrics are about a lady who has bought all she wants in life, but she knows the one thing she can't buy is a Stairway To Heaven.

It's a great song that will stand the test of time.

Although I do agree with Imagine as being number 1, this should definitely be second. This song is beautiful, full of meaning, and I would say it's a masterpiece.

My uncle played this for me when I was really little and told me that no matter what he believed in, if he heard this song, he thought about heaven. He played this the night he died, and we played it at his funeral.

  4. Skyscraper - Demi Lovato

I really like this song! It helps me A LOT! I feel so much better after listening to it. Demi is incredibly strong. She has faced hardships and yet she perseveres and bounces back.

I'm not saying she's better than others, but she definitely deserves recognition.

Demi Lovato is my inspiration. I'm alive today because of her love and honesty. I love her so much. She is my role model. She is incredibly strong.

Without her, I would be dead. I'm not exaggerating in the slightest. She saved my life. She's my angel.

  5. Man in the Mirror - Michael Jackson

This song creates a realization of our reality today. We can't keep complaining or painfully watching people suffer. If others are just going to let this happen, then you have to look in the mirror and make the change yourself.

We often talk about our society and all the bad things that happen without reasoning. That lack of reasoning is because someone didn't prevent it from happening. And that someone could be right in the mirror.

There's a quote that perfectly represents this song: "Our world suffers a lot, not because of the bad people and the violence, but because of the good people that are silent." That's why I vote for this song to be one of the most meaningful songs created by the one and only Michael Jackson. No one will ever forget it, and may his legacy be passed down to future generations.

  6. Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

Yes, please. This song is so true. If you just don't know what to do and you're walking down the path of destiny with no one to guide you, no one beside you, and you're lost, then this song is for you.

When you lose hope and everything seems to be going wrong, listen to this song, and you'll relate. You'll know you're not alone, that there are people who understand out there. Who knows, maybe someday you'll find someone who understands you and accepts you for who you are. That is what this song stands for, what it preaches.

And it doesn't hurt that the beat and tune of this song are addicting. I love this song so much. It deserves a much higher ranking.

  7. Radioactive - Imagine Dragons

Radioactive is a great song. It's very relatable. Imagine Dragons is an underrated band. They incorporate so much meaning into their songs. In this song, the meaning is loud and clear. The way they've presented it and the dark yet somewhat upbeat rhythm complements the song well.

One of the songs I like best by them is Monster. It should be in the Top 10 of this list. I love the line, 'If I told you what I was, would you turn your back on me?' and the paragraph:

'Can I clear my conscience, if I'm different from the rest? Do I have to run and hide? I never said that I wanted this. This burden came to me, and it's made its home inside.'

Their beats, rhythm, and overall vibe are just so great. What I like most about this band is the meaning they put into the lyrics.

  8. Wings - Macklemore

This song is about how people let objects possess them. They believe that something like a pair of shoes will make them successful and popular. However, in the end, "it's just another pair of shoes." What you wear and your popularity does not matter.

It's a beautiful and impactful song.

This song is more than beautiful. It showcases how society has become cruel.

Everyone seems to care about being popular and rich, even though these things are not truly important. The lyrics are great.

When you think of Macklemore, you probably think of "Thrift Shop." Let me clarify, that song is a joke. But this song, "Wings," is different. It's genuine music. It evokes emotions, the way music is intended to.

  9. Hell Above - Pierce the Veil

Not only is Pierce The Veil an amazing band, but they're also really down to Earth. I met them at the World Tour, and they were great live. This song was the opener and it was amazing live. You could tell this song held a special place for Vic (the lead singer, if some of you don't know), and that's honestly the best part about the band.

It's wonderful knowing these words hold meaning to them, and that we can all relate to them in one way or another. Never judge Pierce The Veil by their style. They're one of a kind.

Pierce The Veil is a very inspiring band. They helped me through a lot in the past, and they deserve to be voted for. I will never stop listening to them.

And for the people who judge rock/metal, it isn't "screamo." You don't even listen to the lyrics. Those lyrics speak out to people who are going through what the song is describing. Don't judge what you don't understand.

  10. Family Portrait - Pink

When I listened to the lyrics of this song, it made me cry. I have been going through similar issues, with my parents constantly fighting. It's clear they don't love each other anymore. My brothers and I are the only things keeping them together, and I just want us to be a happy family again.

Pink is such a strong, emotional singer with a beautiful voice. I can seriously just listen to this song and some of her other songs, like Perfect, over and over without getting tired of them.

This song really speaks about the struggles in a family that has lost its love. Very touching.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Anti-Hero - Taylor Swift

Why isn't Anti-Hero on this list at all? The song is about anxiety and fear, but Friday, one of the worst songs, is ranked above this.

Most people can relate to Anti-Hero.

  13. ?

    Titanium - David Guetta

This song has such a powerful energy, letting you know that you need to fighty don't let them break you down.

  14. The Contenders
  15. Angel - Jackie Evancho

Sarah may have performed it first, but Jackie owns this song now. Compare the two different versions on YouTube, and you'll know it's true.

It's a great song sung by the most beautiful voice in the world. Jackie is now only 15. What great things will she achieve in the next 5 to 10 years? We'll wait and see.

It's pretty heavy stuff for the young lady, but she melts your heart when she sings it.

  16. 2 Become 1 - Spice Girls

  17. What a Wonderful World - Jackie Evancho

  18. We are the World - Michael Jackson

This song truly makes me feel that God is up above there in heaven. Michael was an instrument of nature, a prophet in music. He even said that he remembers praying to God and thanking him for putting this wonderful melody in his head. This song proves that love conquers all, and that it is "the greatest gift of all."

This song shows how we are to care and how our choices help the ones who need them. This one song teaches us how to change and be the one who can help make a difference in the world.

How is this not at least Number 2? Other than Imagine and other songs by John Lennon, this is the greatest song ever in terms of message and power.

  19. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Bohemian Rhapsody is easily one of the best classic rock songs of all time and, quite possibly, one of the best songs of all time. It might be just me, but if you listen to this song with Freddie Mercury's sexuality in mind and the fact that this was in 1975, it really seems like a story about his struggles. This song deserves to be at least in the top ten.

This song has a very deep meaning that apparently many people can't hear. Such a great song.

Come on, this song should be number one. We all know that.

  20. About You Now - Miranda Cosgrove

  21. American Pie - Don McLean

Many individuals fail to recognize the event to which this song alludes. They overlook the profound message of the track and the inherent sadness it conveys.

I am deeply disappointed with this list. American Pie deserves a higher ranking. The fact that this list is predominantly filled with Michael Jackson songs while this masterpiece sits at number 46 is truly disheartening.

This song reflects on the tragic accident that took the lives of three iconic singers: The Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, and Ritchie Valens. It's a poignant piece.

  22. Never Too Late - Three Days Grace

This song is very emotional and touching, especially to those with a heart. It is also very comforting. I can remember listening to this song when I was much younger, and it can still make me cry today.

I think this song should be ranked higher. It has given many people hope when they felt they had none left.

Such an emotional song. One of my all-time absolute favorites.

  23. Somewhere - Jackie Evancho

At age 14, Jackie sang "Somewhere" at the National Memorial Day concert in DC. It was a poignant and profound performance that left many in tears.

  24. Seize the Day - Avenged Sevenfold

Their songs are the best. I promise you that they are not like others. They're unique in their way. The first time I heard this song was a few years ago, and I instantly fell in love with it even though I don't like the genre.

But as I listened to it more, I realized that bands like them write meaningful lyrics. Some of their songs even help people who are suicidal.

Time is the only thief against which we can seek justice. This song taught me to seize the day.

Amazing song. Avenged Sevenfold produces some original and incredible music.

  25. Someday - Jackie Evancho

Jackie sings an optimistic song backed up by a children's choir. It is available as a bonus track on the Special Edition of "Dream With Me."

  26. Hero - Enrique Iglesias

This is my favorite song. It's my song for my father, who died a while back, and this song helped me get through it. If you're going through a rough time, you should listen to this song because it will help you get through things.

I love him and love his every word in this song. Really awesome and the most romantic one.

Going through a hard time, and it's helping me to survive with it.

  27. Numb - Linkin Park

This song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of not living up to other people's expectations and thinking you're not good enough. Personally, I've been pushed so hard, and it always seems as if the dreams my parents have for me are their own. I want to pursue music, and my parents want me to focus on academia. Listening to this song helps me realize that I'm not the only one who's gone through this, and it gives me strength to do what I want for myself rather than what others want from me.

This is actually a very relatable song to people in high school and college who don't know what they want to do with their lives, but their parents pressure them into doing what they want them to do. For example: "All I want to do is be more like me and be less like you! And I know I may end up failing too, but I know you were just like me with someone disappointed in you!"

  28. Second and Sebring - of Mice& Men

This song is so relatable due to my grandma dying, and my first tattoo will be the "&" with the lyrics "this is not what it is only baby scars, I need your love like a boy needs his mother's side" on my leg over my scars. My grandma was like my mother.

Very amazingly touching song and a band that I personally listen to every day. The song's about the death of his mother and is honestly something you'd never forget.

Of Mice and Men is so inspiring! Lyrically, I can relate to so many songs. "I hope you smile when you look down on me." If that's not meaningful, then I don't know what is.

  29. The Climb - Miley Cyrus

My mom dedicated this song to me because I've been through so much stuff in my short 13 years. I do NOT get how this song is #34. It should be in the top 10. It has helped me through so much stuff.
