These guys are boring! If you want good German metal, listen to Helloween! - IronSabbathPriest

Why is Rammstein everyone's favourite band? Their music has it's style and is original I agree, but probably the most overrated band. I personally hate them.

These guys are creepy and overrated! I don't know why so many people like them. It really baffles my mind.

Band for beginners, but I don't think they are a good band.. Easy to listen for everyone with easy choruses, but I think most people gets tired of bands like this, switching to more interesting groups.

I think this band is only liked for its war theme which I think is disgusting.
Its an insult to every soldier to make happy drinking music with the war scenario.

I so agree with Rambles. And they definitely didn't deserve the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. - Metal_Treasure

This band is so overrated. This band is just a Pop version of Blue Öyster Cult with Mercyful Fate imagery. - Rambles

47 Killswitch Engage Killswitch Engage Killswitch Engage is an American metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts, formed in 1999 after the disbanding of Overcast and Aftershock.

Metal/deathcore is a stupid genre. It is only listened to because ONE:the name sounds "cool" Two:its emotional... Whatever that means

Really? They're not on here, but Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Dio, The Scorpions, Judas Priest, Children of Bodom, and Led Zeppelin are? Seriously? I can't stand KSE. They're emo music masking themselves as metal. I can't consider them at all metal with a good conscience.

They destroyed Holy Diver. One of the worst metal covers possibly of all time.

48 Atheist Atheist Atheist is a progressive/technical death metal band from Florida, founded in 1984 by drummer Steve Flynn and singer/guitarist Kelly Shaefer.

This is just a horrible wank-fest band who just plays fast and changes tempos and time-sIgnitures for the sake of showing off without any real passion. I feel like people just like this band, because they're old. I bet in 20 years, people are going to praise Brain Drill and Rings of Saturn.

49 Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails is an American industrial rock/metal band and, founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio.

Overrated? They're more underrated. Especially on TheTopTens.

Uh, NIN isn't metal. Sure they made some metal sounding stuff like March of the Pigs and Mr. Self Destruct but they never claimed to be metal. Plus they're underrated.

Marilyn Manson is way more overrated than this amazing band.

There name sounds like Nine Tailed Fox

50 Evanescence Evanescence Evanescence is an American rock band founded in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1995 by singer/pianist Amy Lee and guitarist Ben Moody.

I don't understand why they are constantly being labeled with the metal tag when they don't play metal

Because their fans think they are. Even though they're rock.

Not even a rock band.

51 Breaking Benjamin Breaking Benjamin Breaking Benjamin is a American post-grunge/alternative metal band formed in 1998. The bands members all changed in the time between 2010 to 2014, with the exception of Ben Burnley (Vocals). This isn't even metal, but it is overrated and sucks.

52 Sevendust Sevendust
53 Dark Angel Dark Angel Dark Angel is an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1981. Their over-the-top style (extremely fast, heavy and lengthy songs with lots of tempo changes, lyrics and extended instrumental parts) earned them the nickname "the L.A. Caffeine Machine". Although Dark Angel had more.

These guys, replacing Anthrax as one of the Big 4? My arse.
A crappy guitar production, monotonous drums, bland vocals, same-y riffs and a lack of songwriting ability.
Slayer made this work in 1986, these guys didn't.

We Have Arrived - Their best, amazingly. Sloppy, inconsistent, unformed and raw. And yet, perfectly acceptable Speed/Thrash.

Darkness Descends - A generic and overlong version of Reign In Blood.

Leave Scars - The same as above, but with longer songs and a slightly better production.

Time Does Not Heal - Same as above, but with songs that are WAY to long and a better production.

See a general theme here? Dark Angel are not cutting edge (Slayer) or ever improve on an idea (Morbid Saint)

Sadus is just so much better.

54 In Flames In Flames
55 Nightwish Nightwish Nightwish is a symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland. The band was formed in 1996 by lead songwriter and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and lead singer Tarja Turunen.

I'd say they are overrated for their genre. But as a whole metal genre, they aren't that much of overrated. - zxm

Man, these guys are pretty overrated, at least in my opinion. Sure they have a few good albums, but a lot of it is pretentious rubbish with technical overuse to steal ponies from the Omar down in the clouds I see a map we arrive at the autopista que bien llegamos a casa desde un árbol muy sabroso sin arrogancia

58 Manowar Manowar Manowar is an American heavy metal band from New York City, New York. Formed in 1980, the group is known for lyrics based on fantasy and mythology.

Judas Priest should not be on this list. Its one of the most influencal metal band that ever existed.

Why the hell is Judas Priest on this list?

What? If anything, Priest is underrated!

Number 78 on such list, means they are not overrated. If you ask me, they are underrated! - ShahryRKnoT
