Sleepaway Camp
Hallelujah! This is the first '80s horror list to have Sleepaway Camp on it that I have ever seen. The best, true summer camp horror movie ever!
Unlike the Friday the 13th franchise, which I really love, this movie has total danger. This means the actual child campers could be severely hurt or killed, along with the counselors and adult figures. Jason and his mom never harmed young kids. Even though Jason did go after a baby once, he was stopped.
Anyway, Sleepaway Camp has all the trash-talking, gossiping, and bullying that any camp could have. It also has kids competing in sporting events, eating together in the mess hall, and sleeping in cabins - all the realism of camp. This movie is easily in the top 5 of the decade.
