Top 10 Best Movies of the 1950s
The 1950s were an iconic decade for cinema. Ben-Hur became the first movie to win 11 Oscars. Some Like It Hot remains one of the greatest comedies of all time, and Vertigo still has the power to captivate and shock audiences today.

Vertigo
One of Hitchcock's greatest thrillers with a mind-blowing ending.
-
12 Angry Men
Even if you made the movie today, not much would be different. Except for air conditioning, all electronics would be seized. This would be in my top 5 favorites of all time.
I have to agree with Matrixguy. This movie is great. It's just talking, but so interesting.

Rear Window

Seven Samurai
What an amazing epic samurai movie by Akira Kurosawa.
A movie too great for that time.

North by Northwest

Sunset Boulevard
This fantastic film is definitely deserving of being in the top 3. It really takes a look into the deep, dark visions and thoughts in the psyche. I thought it was just going to be a charming Hollywood film noir, well, set in Hollywood. But it was the opposite.
This movie isn't charming. It's cruel. Dark. Stomach-churning. Eye-opening. Mind-bending. Gah, this film has everything. It's such a classic.
