Top 10 Scariest Moments from the Jurassic Park Series

While the Jurassic Park series is not exactly a horror franchise, there are quite a few scary moments in the films. So here is a list of some of those moments. Enjoy!

The Top Ten
  1. The raptors in the kitchen (Jurassic Park)

This is a scene that just about every Jurassic Park fan thinks is scary and for good reason. I just find it unsettling how the kids are crawling on the floor, hiding from two lethal human-sized dinos with a giant sickle-shaped claw on each foot.

Plus, the noise the raptor's claws make when they tap the floor gave me the chills.

  2. The Indoraptor on the roof of the Lockwood Estate (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)

Just everything about this scene was creepy. The Indoraptor was slowly climbing to the top of the roof at night while it was raining heavily. Once it got to the top, it let out its creepy roar before it began to stalk towards Maisie's room.

  3. The T. rex attacking the camp (The Lost World: Jurassic Park)

This scene gave me quite the thrill. The scene when the T. Rex was chasing the camp through the narrow passage was just plain scary in my opinion.

Not to mention how Carter was shoved to the ground by his allies as they trampled over him right before the T. Rex squashed him with her mighty foot. His flattened body stuck to her foot for two more steps before coming off and floating on top of a puddle.

  4. The death of Ken Wheatley (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)

This is the creepiest death in the whole franchise in my opinion. After Wheatley thinks he tranquilized the Indoraptor, he goes into the cage, and the gate closes behind him. He then tries to take some of the Indoraptor's teeth out with his tool.

As Wheatley struggles to do this, the Indoraptor begins to distract him from getting his prize by moving its tail around, which gets Wheatley's attention. Then, after the Indoraptor does a very creepy smile, it quickly bites down on Wheatley's arm while he is distracted by the Indo's moving tail.

The Indoraptor slowly lifts Wheatley into the air before chomping off his arm and eating it. Then, it does a mighty growl right in front of Wheatley's crying face before it begins to tear him apart.

  5. The Pteranodons in the aviary (Jurassic Park III)

The atmosphere of this scene is one of the things that makes it seem kind of unsettling in my opinion, which is caused by the dreary fog. The noise Grant heard while he was walking across the one really weak section of the cage made me wonder what could possibly be lurking in the fog.

Then, when Grant said, "It's a bird cage," and Amanda asked, "For what?" at that point, I had a pretty good idea of what we were going to see. Just then, a Pteranodon slowly emerged from the fog (which was creepy). Once Eric screamed, it flapped its wings and plucked him off the platform, carrying the screaming Eric through the fog. What follows is a lot of heart-pounding action.

  6. The trailers hanging over the cliff (The Lost World: Jurassic Park)

Oh boy, did this scene really scare me the first time I watched this movie. Seeing the two T. Rex's destroying the front of the trailer and pushing it quickly towards the cliff was pretty scary in my opinion.

Also, the part with Sarah laying on the glass that was slowly beginning to crack and break had me on the edge of my seat. Then, to top it all off, Eddie Carr is flung into the air and ripped in half by the two Rexes.

  7. The T. rex escaping her paddock (Jurassic Park)

This is a great scene. It starts when Nedry turns off the power in the storm and adds a virus. The jeeps stop in front of the T. Rex station, and a T. Rex attacks the jeep with the kids and Gennaro. Gennaro runs into the bathroom.

The T. Rex is attacking the van because Lex is flashing the light all around. Then, Alan and Malcolm try to help. Alan waves a flare, and Malcolm throws a flare near the toilet where Gennaro is. The T. Rex attacks Malcolm, injuring his leg. Then, the T. Rex attacks Gennaro, eating him before proceeding to attack the kids. Alan saves the kids, and then they escape.

This is one iconic scene and also a pretty scary one. After Rexy flings one of the goat's bloody legs onto the glass roof of the SUV that Donald, Lex, and Tim are in, Donald (understandably) begins to panic and runs out of the SUV and into the bathroom, where he sits on the toilet.

Then Rexy easily breaks out of her paddock fence (since the power's out) and does her iconic roar, then she begins her hunt. Lex, who is idiotically shining the flashlight all over the place, gets Rexy's attention, and Rexy begins to completely destroy the SUV by flipping it over and tearing the underside of the vehicle to pieces. All the while, her heavy foot on the SUV causes it to sink into the mud while Lex and Tim are still inside, trying to stay above the mud that is quickly rising.

Grant and Ian get Rexy's attention using flares, but after Ian throws his flare, he forgets to stand still. This causes Rexy to chase him, which leads to him getting flung into the air, which causes Rexy to crash into the bathroom wall. That collapses the entire building, leaving Donald sitting exposed on the toilet, allowing Rexy to snatch him in her mouth and start flinging him around, sending body parts flying.

  8. The opening scene with the Mosasaurus (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)

This is by far the scariest opening in any of the movies. Especially the parts with the submarine. After the guys in the submarine send one of the Indominus Rex's bones up to the surface of the lake, lightning flashes revealing the silhouette of the mosasaurus creeping slowly along the surface of the lake.

The same kind of creepiness goes for Rexy and the way she snuck up on that guy. But the scariest part of this scene is how the mosasaurus was slowly sneaking up behind the submarine right before swallowing it.

  9. The crash landing on Isla Sorna (Jurassic Park III)

After the terrified mercenaries get everyone onto the plane and are about to make their escape, Cooper jumps out in front of the plane in hopes that they will stop. Then, out of nowhere, the Spinosaurus comes and snatches Cooper with its long snout.

While in shock, Nash quickly tries to get the plane over the Spinosaurus, which doesn't work. Instead, he hits the Spinosaurus with his plane. Some blood splats on the windshield, and the plane goes down and crashes in the trees.

  10. The Indoraptor in Maisie's bedroom (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom)

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

The T. rex head entering the tent (The Lost World: Jurassic Park)

  13. ?

The death of Vic Hoskins (Jurassic World)

First, Vic explains what his evil plot was, and then Delta comes forward, bites down on his hand, and then devours Vic. But the worst thing in my opinion is the blood that's shed on the door.

  14. The Contenders
  15. The death of Zara Young (Jurassic World)

By far the scariest scene in JW. After she is thrown around by the pteranodons, she is dropped from high up in the air and lands in the water. There, she is attacked again by a pteranodon before getting shredded to pieces by the Mosasaurus.

  16. The Scorpios rex entering the camp (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous)

  17. The raptors in the long grass (The Lost World: Jurassic Park)

  18. The Dilophosaurus killing Dennis Nedry (Jurassic Park)

This scene terrified me when I first saw it. For many years after that, whenever I watched Jurassic Park, I would not watch this part. Now, it doesn't bother me at all.

  19. The Indominus rex attacking the ACU team (Jurassic World)

  20. The glass of water rippling from footsteps (Jurassic Park)

(Edit: Oops, I forgot Rexy's escape was already on the list. Well, this is a smaller moment within the Rexy's escape scene.)

This should be on the list. This is one of the most iconic scenes in the film, and it always gives me chills. The T. Rex's stomps as it approaches the group cause a glass of water in one of the cars to shake and ripple.

  21. The death of Eddie Carr (The Lost World: Jurassic Park)

When Eddie is trying so hard to get his pals from the falling cliff, he realizes that something is behind him. He turns, and there they are, the momma and the daughter.

The momma grabs him, and the daughter grabs him. They lift him into the air, and BANG! He's ripped in half.
