Depends on what you are talking about. According to Kai Hansen of Gamma Ray, Kurt Cobain was the reason metal became less popular and Grunge became more popular. Those albums were more overrated. But still I won't take this as a discredit, rather I will take this as a credit of Kurt Cobain. When Elvis Presley came to 50s, he took over country music, and some blues. It's just a generation, that one artist comes, and he takes over other genres. His genre becomes more popular. Whole 70s was popular for hard rock because of Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple etc bands. Whole 80's was popular for metal because of bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth etc. It doesn't mean they killed music. - zxm
