Greatest Steely Dan Songs

Really is a great song, and reflecting Pet Sounds, similar to the work of The Doors, Riders On the Storm.
Reminds me a bit of The Doors, particularly Riders on the Storm.
I sing this song all the time. One of my favorites.

I'd love a 20-minute version. Drink Scotch whisky all night long. Learn to work the saxophone. Great lyrics.
Personally, it's my favorite. The lyrics really mean something.
I really don't see why it isn't No. 1. Some of the best song lyrics I've ever heard.

Clever lyrics, great guitar playing. A lot of the songs from the "Aja" album are good, but this one is still my favorite.
I think it's between this one and Do It Again. Both of them classics.
This is one song that always makes me cry.

I've always loved this song and had a rough idea of what it was about. The opening bars of the song brilliantly capture the danger and excitement of making and dealing in drugs.
What I really like about the song is the exquisite melody and harmony it contains. Larry Carlton's solo is rightly regarded as one of the greatest ever. I never get tired of listening to it.
This song is based on an LSD manufacturer named Stanley Owsley, who made the best LSD in San Francisco.

Must be higher. Steve Gadd's drum solo is one of the best ever.

My favorite song by Steely Dan.

The Newcomers

It fills me with the same energy that Do It Again does.

It's a beautiful song with beautiful interpretations.

This is an extremely underrated song by Steely Dan. I wonder why nobody has even heard about it yet. Basically, one of their best songs ever. That baseline slaps.

I don't see how this is not in the top 10. Awesome song, listen to it people. It's better than half the songs above it.
One of the best songs I've ever heard. Can't get it out of my head!

It's everything a song should be.

Big radio hit, great song. Should be higher.

Makes me cry every time! "Lord, I know you're a special friend, but you can't seem to understand." Hits right in the feels.

Who wrote this timeless sea song?

In my opinion, this is one of their best songs, but it's almost impossible to classify one song as better than the others. All of them are so great in their own way.
Easily one of their best melodies.
