2 How to Save a Life - The Fray

I've listened to this song since I was a small child, the first time I remember hearing it was when I was around seven, after my dad threatened me and hit his girlfriend while she was pushing me into my room to hide. I sat there, listening to this song on repeat, for an hour. Only years later, did I find out what this song means.

This is an amazing song w/ a great message, and is the saddest yet greatest song ever.

The part where the kids sing in the chorus REALLY pushes me over the edge! SO beautiful and amazing! This song goes out to everyone who has that one song that always makes them smile!

Okay so pretty much EVERY SINGLE Fray song makes me cry! Issac Slade has such a beautiful, heart wrenching voice! I love them because they don't sing about all that mainstream crap! They don't sing about clubs, girls, sex, drugs, or anything crappy like that! They actually have songs that are important and need to be heard!

5 Her Last Words - Courtney Parker

Best song to correlate with your suicidal and self harming thoughts and feelings when you just need comfort knowing that other people go through the same types of feelings.

When I first heard this song, I was streaming in tears! I in fact have depression to. Nearly killed myself the other day. If I commit suicide I either wanna hang myself or jump off a roof... Eh, Well I love this song! It's one of my favorites! Every time it makes me bursting in tears though.

6 Never Too Late - Three Days Grace

Takes me back to a period of my life that was an intense struggle of addiction where I made mistakes that I didn't know id never be able to say sorry for and I lost people I didn't realize I couldn't live without until it was too late. This song was the soundtrack to my downfall and the reason why I've been suicidal ever since. It's a daily struggle not to. I can hardly listen to it.

Great song sad

7 Hurt - Johnny Cash

This song literally brings me to my knees. To see the man in black as a broken dying old man with so much regret, just literally tears my heart out. Everyone should hear this at least one time. He snatched it from trent Reznor and made it his own, a final warning to us all from the man who did it all and found out what was important and what wasn't in life. Theres a message in this. Don't miss it.

The music video is one of the saddest music videos ever.

How the hell is this not number one?

8 Adam's Song - Blink-182

Greg Barnes committed suicide in 2000 by listening to this song on repeat a hundred times. Actually, the real reason was because he lost one of his best friends during the Columbine High School massacre on April 20th 1999. And since then, he had a depressing life, listened to this song so many times and finally took his own life on May 6th 2000.

Should be number 1

Definitely had a happy song vibe but gets real deep when you listen to the lyrics

11 My Immortal - Evanescence

It's the perfect most awesome suicidal or need to be depressed song about losing someone. And she sings it perfectly. Nobody can ever sing any song better than she did this one. I feel every word. See you on the other side guys. Don't be me. Get help. ONE LOVE.

Isn't this song about the death of a loved one?

12 Fade to Black - Metallica

As long as you can appreciate this music this should be number one above all else. There music speaks words and before they even say a word you can tell what it's about and could start to break down. Dealing with depression, this song has most actually described it in my opinion.

It's so easy to just play this, sit back, take it all in, and then let it all out. It's just one relatable lyric after another, accompanied by great music, and with one of the greatest guitar solos of all time. One of my favourites. Should be number one, hands down.

13 Headfirst for Halos - My Chemical Romance

This song is so upbeat and happy when you first hear it, but when you actually listen to the lyrics, you realise that the upbeat tone is just the mask that most people use to hide their depression. The happiness is actually scary.

Just put it well above Grenade please.

One of the better ones on this list.
