The Contenders: Page 2

21 Troy Sanders Troy Sanders Troy Jayson Sanders is an American musician, singer, and songwriter best known as a member of the Atlanta, Georgia metal band Mastodon, in which he plays bass and shares lead vocal duties with guitarist Brent Hinds and drummer Brann Dailor.

He doesn't sound as good live, but he has some good harsh vocals. I like him a lot - ryanrimmel

22 Andy Biersack Andy Biersack

Of course, there are many better vocalists than him... Most of the people just love him because of the way he looks.

23 Gaahl Gaahl

He isn't very overrated to be honest, - Lucretia

24 Amy Lee Amy Lee Amy Lynn Hartzler, known professionally as Amy Lee, is an American singer-songwriter, classically trained pianist and composer. She is also the lead singer to the Arkansas band Evanescence.
25 Peter Steele Peter Steele Petrus Thomas Ratajczyk, better known by his stage name Peter Steele, was the lead singer, bassist and composer for the gothic metal band Type O Negative.

I don't get how he's overrated.

He's not overrated.

26 James LaBrie James LaBrie Kevin James LaBrie is a Canadian vocalist and songwriter, who is best known as the lead singer of the American progressive metal band Dream Theater.

He's both underrated and overrated. Outside the metal world he's underrated, but he's getting overrated compared to singers within metal. He's currently #17 on the list of top metal singers where he's above more better singers than him. Not saying he's a bad singer or anything, it's just there are far better metal singers than him.

27 Michael Jackson Michael Jackson Michael Joseph Jackson was an American singer, dancer, and songwriter born on August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana and passed away on June 25, 2009. He donated (at least) a remarkable 300,000,000 dollars to charity. Michael is also known as The King of Pop (a title given to him by Elizabeth Taylor) or under more.

Seriously. Can't TheTopTens be more serious with their lists for once?

28 Bruce Dickinson Bruce Dickinson Paul Bruce Dickinson, known professionally as Bruce Dickinson, is an English musician, airline pilot, and broadcaster. He is most well known for being the lead singer in heavy metal band Iron Maiden and his solo career.

Bruce is talented, but he can't beat Ronnie Dio, Rob Halford, and King Diamond.

So overrated. Corey Taylor and Howard Jones are way better

Don't get me wrong, he's a great vocalist. But to be honest, I'm astonished at how many people think he's the "greatest metal vocalist of all time." I disagree, and I think there are a lot of other good metal vocalists that deserve more attention than him - Shake_n_Bake13

29 Tom Araya Tom Araya Tomás Enrique "Tom" Araya Díaz is a Chilean American musician, best known as the bassist and vocalist of the American thrash metal band Slayer.

In most of Slayer's songs he sounds like he's fast talking and that's why I like only a few of Slayer's songs. - Delata

Honestly, I don't see how Slayer or Tom is in any way overrated. James Hatfield & Dave Mustaine are twice as overrated if you ask me. - ViitalShadow

30 Chuck Schuldiner Chuck Schuldiner Charles Michael "Chuck" Schuldiner was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist, best known as the founder and vocalist, guitarist and bassist of the American heavy metal band Death. He is considered the most influential figure in Death Metal, with some publications referring to Chuck as the "Godfather more.

I love Death, but to me, Chuck didn't create death metal. He even admitted it himself. In my opinion, Possessed are the true creators of death metal.

Not in my opinion but - Lucretia

31 Brann Dailor Brann Dailor Brann Timothy Dailor is an American drummer/singer best known as a member of the Atlanta, Georgia metal band Mastodon, in which he is the drummer, backing vocalist, lead vocalist and primary lyricist.
32 Chris Barnes Chris Barnes Chris Barnes is an American musician mainly noted for his deep-throat vocals, explicitly violent lyrics.

34 John Cooper John Cooper John Landrum Cooper, professionally credited as John L. Cooper, is an American musician, singer and songwriter. He has been the lead vocalist, bassist and co-founder of the Grammy-nominated American Christian rock band Skillet since 1996.
35 Dead Dead Per Yngve Ohlin, better known by his stage name Dead, was a Swedish black/death metal vocalist and lyricist best known for his work with Norwegian black metal band Mayhem.

I know a lot of metalheads like Mayhem, but they only had a few obscure EXTREMELY lo-fi demos with Dead. The main reason he's loved is for his supposed crazy live stunts, which most metalheads had probably never seen. Dead was great, but people need to stop saying he was the best metal vocalist just because everyone else does.

36 Hansi Kürsch Hansi Kürsch Hansi Kürsch, born Hans Jürgen Kürsch, is the lead singer, lyricist, co-composer and bassist for German power metal band Blind Guardian . Heavily influenced by Freddie Mercury, he creates a huge choir effect by overdubbing his own voice multiple times in complex, overlapping vocal harmonies. He records more.

Hansi is actually underrated. I am pretty sure Hansi was added to this list by a certain troll / metal hater (looking at you, visitor/anonymous troll). Every metal fan on this site knows this vapid troll. - Metal_Treasure

He's actually underrated.

He's not really overrated to be honest.
