Top Ten Reasons Why Black Metal is Better Than Thrash Metal and Hard Rock

The Top Ten
1 Black metal has a lot of variety, thrash metal and hard rock usually sound similar.

Ha, that's only Slayer. Master of Puppets, One, Symphony of Destruction, and Tornado of Souls all sound different.

Thrash metal and hard rock sounding similar is a bad thing? Also, thrash and hard rock have way more variety.

These are pretty mediocre reasons, it's just that you like Black Metal more? Isn't it?

Nah, black metal is pretty basic

2 Black metal vocalists usually require better vocals then thrash and hard rock.

Hard rock singers have better vocal range.

"Boris the Spider"

That’s not true. Actually decent vocals > terrible growling.

No Black Metal has repetetive lyrics. For me here is how I put these genres.

Thrash Metal=Good but can be repetetive

Hard Rock=Kinda sucks but not that bad but is overrated

Black Metal=Really sucks and is edgy and is also overrated but not as overrated as Hard Rock

3 Black metal has Burzum, Emperor, 1349, Gorgoroth, Limbonic Art, and Mayhem while other genres only have bands like Van Halen and AC/DC.

Thrash metal has bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus, Overkill, And Testament. Hard rock has bands like Motörhead. Black metal is boring, repetitive, and awful.

Metallica, Guns N Roses, etc.

4 Black metal musicians don't write albums like Risk or St. Anger, or Van Halen 3.

Thrash metal musicians write albums like Ride The Lightning, Rust In Peace, The New Order, Seasons In The Abyss, etc. Black metal < Thrash Metal.

5 Black metal bands release many high quality albums.

Some of the more extreme genres literally try to make lo-fi albums

6 Black metal has many waves, hard rock and thrash do not.
7 Thrash metal and hard rock inspire nu metal, black did not.
8 Black metal can address political issues, all hard rock talks about is rock and roll.

That’s only AC/DC. Thrash metal can address them as well; damn near every Metallica or Megadeth song ever addresses important issues.

9 Black metal bands never switch genres like some thrash and hard rock bands.

You seem to be forgetting Ulver, who took a HUGE risk by switching to more electronic music and still making it as good as their black metal works.

Um, thrash metal musicians can experiment without selling out. Black metal musicians suck anyway.

10 Black metal has a higher variety of sub genres.

Umm no it doesn't

Thrash metal and hard rock don’t? Thrash doesn’t have that many sub genres, but that’s not a reason. Hard rock has heavy metal, and a whole ton of subgenres come from that.

11 It has more hipster appeal.

In reality, this is the main reason.
