Many people think that Japan is dangerous because of World War II actions and because its relations with other Asian countries, but Japan still has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.

Take away the homicide rate of the half-dozen worst "inner cities", Chicago and Detroit being the absolute worst, and the US is an extremely safe place. True that hapless tourists can accidentally wander where they should never go, but a bit of research ahead of time, and really just being aware of your surroundings will steer you clear of bad areas.
Except for some states (*Cough* Mississippi *Cough*) this place is pretty safe and most of the people on the top tens are Americans so they can explain to you why better than I can do.

Yes, we feel the atmosphere of the conflict here daily, but the chances that you will be involved in any possible terror attack are very small.
