The best sweeper ever, he is far beyond to other guitar players. Becker was 17, 18 and 19 years old when he did those amazing sweeps. Now imagine if he could still play the guitar today? He would be a complete Beast in all senses. Not only because his natural talent in the instrument, he is still the most skillfull player ever, but his sweeps was all about melody, structure and a good intention to it. Like Marty said: Jason Becker was close to Mozart in terms of ideas and imagination.

He is Steve Vai inspired. Deserves to be on here. Just check some of his sweep picking video/songs (If you are interested.)

13 Joe Stump
14 Chuck Wayne

Chuck Wayne used some complex picking which now sounds very close to sweep picking. So, eventually the whole credit goes to him for creating sweep picking. I have listened his songs of 50s. Which already have sweep picking. I heard he used it in the 40s. But sad thing is a lot of people think Frank Gambale created sweep picking. But the truth is he just popularized it. Just like Yngwie Malmsteen popularized it in metal.
