Top 10 Best Nicktoons Shows

The Top Ten
  1. SpongeBob SquarePants

SpongeBob SquarePants is an American animated television series created by marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg for Nickelodeon. It has become one of Nickelodeon's most popular and longest-running shows, attracting both children and adults.... read more

This show is definitely the best cartoon ever. Seasons 1-3 were amazing with all of the best episodes like Band Geeks. Seasons 4 and 5 were okay and had some good episodes like Have You Seen This Snail? and Breath of Fresh Squidward.

Seasons 6-8 were the worst SpongeBob seasons ever. Seasons 9-10 got a little better but still not as good as seasons 1-3.

I only really disliked season 7. Seasons 6 and 8 have lots of redeeming qualities, and it is one of the best kids' cartoons ever.

Whether you love it or hate it, the first 3 seasons of Spongebob are masterpieces.

  2. Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender is an American animated television series that aired on Nickelodeon for three seasons from 2005 to 2008. It is set in an Asiatic-inspired world where some people can manipulate the classical elements using psychokinetic techniques based on Chinese martial arts, known as "bending."... read more

Why anyone could vote for SpongeBob anymore is beyond me. What a load of trash. This show, however, is an artistic masterpiece, both in style and visuals and in character and writing. The worldbuilding is beyond compelling.

It is truly the best animated series the world has ever seen, at least when it comes to serious, dramatic animated series. If this was about comedy shows on Nick, I'd probably vote for Rocko's Modern Life or maybe older SpongeBob, but when taking overall quality into consideration, Avatar clearly wins in my book.

I recommend showing this to newer generations - not the Netflix reboot or, God forbid, the embarrassing M. Night Shyamalan film.

  3. Invader Zim

Invader Zim is an American animated television series created by Jhonen Vasquez for Nickelodeon. The series centers on an extraterrestrial named Zim from the planet Irk, who is determined to conquer Earth with the help of his malfunctioning robot assistant, GIR.... read more

What I like about this show is its sense of humor. You have both light and dark humor. Most of the light humor comes from the comic relief character Gir, who is an actually funny comic relief character, while the dark humor is more spread out between the characters.

I like the show's portrayal of humanity, oblivious to the fact that Zim is an alien, yet flipping out whenever a kid throws a punch on the floor. The best part of the show is that nobody is the bad guy. Both Zim and Dib can win, unlike shows with clearly defined heroes and villains, where the hero almost always wins. Fairly OddParents, Hey Arnold!, and SpongeBob may try, but they will never top Invader Zim in my opinion.

  4. Danny Phantom

Danny Phantom is an American animated series created by Butch Hartman for Nickelodeon. It was produced by Billionfold Studios and distributed in Canada by Nelvana, a Canadian animation company.

The series follows a teenage boy who becomes a human-ghost hybrid after an accident involving a malfunctioning... read more

Danny Phantom has a lot of meaning under its rather child-like façade. It teaches many different values and truths about our lives, such as honesty, morality, identity, and everlasting friendships. It also shows how blind certain people can be to the truth when they simply follow the crowd.

The show revolves around Danny Fenton, whose parents, teachers, and classmates only see him as just another troubled, lazy teen. What they don't know is the other side of him - the selfless, persevering, ghostly Phantom. Yet, despite his good deeds, he is still seen as a menace by many and is even hunted by his own ghost-hunting parents. Why? Simply because he is a ghost, and ghosts are supposed to be evil. No exceptions.

This is why I feel that Danny Phantom should be ranked among the top shows on Nickelodeon. It holds so much potential and character development that you can empathize with his troubles.

  5. Hey Arnold!

Hey Arnold! is an American animated television series created by Craig Bartlett. It aired on Nickelodeon from October 7, 1996, to June 8, 2004.

The show follows a fourth grader named Arnold who lives with his grandparents in an inner-city boarding house. It became known for its diverse cast of... read more

Perhaps not as creative and divisive as Zim or Airbender, Arnold just has such a special quality to it. It doesn't always have happy endings. The characters are deep (Helga, of course, is the standout), it had a wonderful jazz score (I listen to the music casually), the character designs stand out visually, it captures childhood beautifully, and it's also a lot of fun.

I really do think it's the best Nicktoon.

One of the most sober cartoons ever made. Producers were careful to make the main characters a lot more than the shallow and unreal figures you typically see in a kid's show. They have intricate personalities, and many of the conflicts they are involved in reflect real-life struggles.

All of this is presented in a very enjoyable fashion that made us appreciate it as kids.

  6. Rocko's Modern Life

Rocko's Modern Life is an American animated television series created by Joe Murray for Nickelodeon. The series centers on the surreal life of an anthropomorphic Australian-immigrant wallaby named Rocko, along with his friends: the gluttonous steer Heffer, the neurotic turtle Filburt, and Rocko's faithful... read more

Rocko's Modern Life is one of the funniest shows ever, and it's one of my favorite shows. I've been watching it since I was eleven, back in 1993. I collect shirts of it all the time.

Some parts in Static Cling were a little disappointing, but it was pretty good. I also love the Halloween episode, the episode about baseball and the carnival, the cabin, the plumbing problem in Rocko's toilet, and Wacky Deli.

It goes with my other favorite shows like The Amazing World of Gumball, Summer Camp Island, Mighty Magiswords, The Critic, Peanuts, Bonkers, and Goof Troop. I also collect the DVDs.

I have only seen a few episodes, but I really like this show. It's not as good as Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy, but it's still great.

  7. The Loud House

I love this show so much. I love its comic book art style, its pop culture references, its humor, the voice acting, its relatability, and the chemistry between the Loud siblings and the other characters on the show. Personally, this is my favorite cartoon of all time.

It used to be garbage, but it has gotten just better and better.

  8. The Fairly OddParents

The Fairly OddParents is an American animated television series created by Butch Hartman for Nickelodeon. It originally premiered as a series of shorts on Oh Yeah! Cartoons in 1998 before debuting as a full series in March 2001.... read more

The Fairly OddParents is the show that deserves the Kids' Choice Award every year, NOT SpongeBob! Fairly OddParents is the best show ever and always will be! People of Nickelodeon and Nicktoons, DO NOT stop making new FOP episodes EVER! If this show dies, I die!

Best Nicktoon ever. The writing is much better than SpongeBob. Unlike the current cash cow, Fairly OddParents actually has a plot and a zany cast. Even though the show went downhill when Poof came along (and KEPT ON GOING DOWNHILL when SPARKY and CHLOE arrived), it still had a longer classic era than SpongeBob.

Butch Hartman, PLEASE bring this show back and remove Chloe! Keep Poof, but he isn't necessary.

  9. Rugrats

Rugrats is an American animated television series created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó, and Paul Germain for Nickelodeon. The show premiered in 1991 and follows a group of toddlers navigating life from their unique perspectives. It became one of Nickelodeon's most successful and longest-running animated... read more

This show holds so many memories and nostalgia. Not to mention the wonderful characters, development, and humor. So much better than SpongeBob in humor! Deserves to be #1.

Guys, it's on TeenNick about every night at 3-4 A.M. and on weekdays at 11-12 P.M.

Also, it is the best Nicktoon in my opinion.

Better than Spongebob, even if rugrats is another word for bad child.

  10. The Ren & Stimpy Show

The Ren & Stimpy Show, often referred to simply as Ren & Stimpy, is an American animated television series created by John Kricfalusi for Nickelodeon. It originally aired from 1991 to 1995 and is known for its surreal humor and controversial content. The series centers on Ren, an emotionally unstable... read more

This show is really hilarious, disturbing, and even has some heartwarming moments. One of my favorite shows, hands down.

One of the best Nicktoons of all time from the '90s. The Adult Party one was really bad.

At least when John was there. The whole thing was a train wreck after that.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    The Really Loud House

  13. ?

    The Casagrandes

  14. The Contenders
  15. The Legend of Korra

The Legend of Korra is an American animated television series that aired on Nickelodeon from 2012 to 2014. The show was created by Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. It serves as a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender and continues the story in a new setting with a new Avatar.

Cartoon Network has five good shows, but Nickelodeon has one good show, and that is Korra. This is a spinoff of Avatar, and a good one. Now if only Planet Sheen was the same...

I'm in love with The Legend of Korra. Both this and the original are some of my top favorite shows.

  16. Harvey Beaks

Harvey Beaks is an American animated television series created by C.H. Greenblatt for Nickelodeon. Originally announced to premiere on March 29, 2015, the series instead premiered on March 28, 2015, following the 2015 Kids' Choice Awards. It ran for two seasons and concluded in 2017.

Really fun and adorable show that harkens back to the times of creative '90s Nickelodeon. Made by C.H. Greenblatt, the creator of Chowder, it's a really great watch and is one of modern Nick's best toons.

It's one of the only things I tune into when I watch Nick nowadays.

Doesn't try to be hyperactive, hip, or trendy. A more laid-back, funny, and very sweet show with some atmospheric background design, great music, and amusing characters.

I love the art in most backgrounds of this show. Plus, it's one of the best recent shows on Nick along with The Loud House.

  17. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an American 3D computer-animated television series based on the superhero team of the same name. It aired on Nickelodeon in the United States from September 29, 2012, to November 12, 2017. The series received praise for its storytelling, animation style, and character... read more

Ninja Turtles is the only good Nicktoon (besides classic SpongeBob and FOP) currently airing. Most shows on the network nowadays are about idiots doing nothing but farting and playing games. That nonsense is only appealing to brain-dead five-year-olds.

First of all, Michelangelo is an idiot.

    Second of all, it's funny.

    Third of all, it's action-packed.

  18. The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius is an American computer-animated television series created by John A. Davis. It is the first spin-off of the 2001 film Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. The series originally aired on Nickelodeon from July 20, 2002, to November 25, 2006.

One of the best shows on Nicktoons. They need to get rid of this new nonsense and put the classics back on. All this other stuff is stupid. I want my Nicktoons to be loaded with all the good shows. Bring me back the shows I love.

Jimmy Neutron was the first CGI Nicktoon and one of the best. Almost all of the plots were zany and interesting. It knew how to handle humor without turning into its spinoff. Also, it had mostly fully realized characters.

This show is a classic that had it all.

  19. My Life as a Teenage Robot

My Life as a Teenage Robot is an American animated science fantasy television series created by Rob Renzetti for Nickelodeon. The series originally aired from 2003 to 2009 and centers on a robot girl named XJ-9, or Jenny, who wants to live a normal teenage life. The show received critical acclaim for... read more

I'm MALE, and I like this show. I genetically can't relate to the main characters, and I STILL enjoy it. THAT'S how good this show is.

How are Breadwinners, Mr. Meaty, and Sanjay and Craig above this masterpiece?

I love this show. I grew up watching it, and when I was a little 6-year-old, I used to have a little crush on Jenny. But still, this is one of my favorite shows.

  20. The Angry Beavers

The Angry Beavers is an American animated television series created by Mitch Schauer for Nickelodeon. The series follows Daggett and Norbert Beaver, two beaver brothers who leave their family home to live independently in a forest near the fictional town of Wayouttatown, Oregon. The show originally aired... read more

Oh my gosh, I completely forgot about this show! The brotherly love/hate relationship between Norb and Dag is surprisingly charming and well done. Their dynamic (Norb is super laid back, and Dag is manic) is hilarious and very entertaining.

The animation was excellent back in the '90s and is still pretty today.

This should be #1, in my humble opinion.

  21. CatDog

CatDog is an American animated television series created by Peter Hannan for Nickelodeon. The show centers on conjoined brothers, with one half being a cat and the other a dog. The series explores their daily lives and the challenges that arise from their very different personalities.

  22. The Penguins of Madagascar

The Penguins of Madagascar is an American CGI animated television series that aired on Nickelodeon. The series is a spin-off from the Madagascar film franchise produced by DreamWorks Animation. It focuses on the adventures of four penguins and their humorous missions based in the Central Park Zoo.

  23. The Wild Thornberrys

The Wild Thornberrys is an American animated television series that aired on Nickelodeon. It was rerun in the United States on both Nickelodeon and Nicktoons until November 1, 2007. The show returned to The '90s Are All That for one night on March 21, 2013.... read more

  24. Catscratch

Catscratch is an American animated television series created by Doug TenNapel, who is also known for creating Earthworm Jim. The show aired on Nickelodeon and Nicktoons from July 9, 2005, to February 10, 2007.

It is an adaptation of TenNapel's graphic novel Gear, which is also the name of the... read more

I wish Nick had let it stay longer. They decided to give it a single season and stretch it across two years (2005 to 2007).

  25. El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera

El Tigre, or El Tigre II, is the superhero and supervillain alter ego of Manny Rivera. The animated series El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera centers on Manny as he grapples with using his powers for good or evil. Manny has fought supervillains as a hero but has also joined forces with them to... read more

This show is so underrated. Like REALLY underrated. It was funny, the action was good, and the animation was really good. Why was it not more popular?

  26. Aaahh!!! Real Monsters

I honestly think this show is cool, even if I only see it on TeenNick at 11 P.M. or sometime like that.

  27. Dragon Ball Z Kai

Dragon Ball Z Kai is the best show on earth! I love the action and fighting. It makes me feel like I am in heaven. My favorite characters are Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, Chi-Chi, and Piccolo.

  28. All Grown Up!

All Grown Up! is an American animated television series created by Arlene Klasky and Gábor Csupó for Nickelodeon. It is a spin-off of Rugrats and takes place approximately ten years after the original series, with the characters now in their pre-teen and teenage years.... read more

Whenever I watched that show, it always made me want to hang out with friends instead of staying inside all day. Awesome show!

A rare case of a spinoff that is actually loyal to the original show.

  29. Rocket Power

Rocket Power is an American animated television series that aired on Nickelodeon. It premiered on August 16, 1999, and concluded after four seasons on July 30, 2004. The series follows a group of friends who enjoy extreme sports in a Southern California beach town.

This was everything extreme about the late '90s and early 2000s. The theme song was amazing. So those are the only reasons this show is here.
