David Ruffin made Michael Jackson seem like Justin Bieber.
Tommy James was a true visionary demonstrated especially in this song wherein he plays multiple instruments. this song has such incredible textures and feelings and I was excited to see this make the list.
That's not really underrated, I heard it pretty much on WOLX 94.9

The Cowsills were amazingly talented & highly underrated.
Many of Neil Young's greatest compositions were first heard while he was a member of Buffalo Springflield.
This could easily have been a Beatles song, since it had writing input from George Harrison and even a little bit from Ringo!
Check the YT video from their Shindig! T.V. show appearance; in 1965, with the Beatles, Stones, Dylan and more headlining everywhere, the Yardbirds were absolutely the coolest guys on the planet.
