.Arazi - Watch the re-run of the 1991 Breeders Cup, Juvenile and you'll see just why Arazi makes it into my top ten. At the rear of the field before the final turn, Arazi takes off like a rocket to leave the rest (12 horses) standing. It was a breathtaking performance ingrained into the memory.
Unfortunately had one mind blowing performance and built a rep that was almost impossible to keep up, was one of my favourite races of all time though, was on another planet for a minute
Never seen a horse quicken like this horse did
Won the Stratford Handicap in Port Hedland in 2015. Gronow spelt backwards. Has such a big heart it wouldn't all fit in his chest so some of it is on his head.
It's not the Stratford Handicap, it's the Stratco Handicap! Sheesh, do your research!V 1 Comment
He was a good horse, won the derby!V 1 Comment
Bold Ruler is Secretariat's dad why can't he be famous he the one who gave Secretariat all that speed! And I even love Bold Ruler because of his talent, color, and because he's Secretariat's dad! Anyone else love him yet?!
Why does Bold Ruler is the sire of Secretariat. If it wasn't for him, Secretariat would never have won those races! Not to mention he was once the horse of the year in 1957. In my opinion Bold Ruler and Sham should be in the top 10
Not true. Although it is rumored that Bold Ruler was in the stable when Secretariat's dam conceived, there are lot of stories about it being an immaculate conception.
No one cares if he is secretariats father. That's a bunch of crap that no one wants to hear. Bold Ruler was regularly good. This is a perfect spot on the list
He is one of the greatest ever know he should be in the top 10 like secretariatV 2 Comments
The greatest the Southern Hemisphere has ever seen in my opinion. When he went abroad he showed the mighty Americans a taste of what he was capable of. Only a tragedy that injury ended his career for in my opinion the clash of all clashes would have been Horse Chestnut vs Dubai Millenium in the Dubai World Cup and I truely believe that Dubai Millenium would have come unstuck against this South African Giant known as "Big Red". What a LEGEND!
Certainly the best horse to have graced the race courses of South Africa. A turn of foot like no other Horse Chestnut won so convincingly he appeared to be in a different race. So sad that injury curtailed his racing career
I have watched other horses run and I have to say Horse Chestnut was the best. I agree he would have beaten anything that stood before him. South Africa has never had a better horse even today.
Best horse ever, would've beaten secretariat hands downV 5 Comments
Had a deadly left foot & could strike at any time. Usually carried his own, and will be fondly remembered by his nickname: The Flying Dutchman.
Was he out of Van Der Hum who won the 76 Melbourne Cup?

Happy to see him here. He ran with heart in the Derby and consequently in the Preakness Belmont and Breeders Cup. No one expected him to place and much less win the Derby. He became an icon for underdogs. Mine That Bird has my vote!
He was a very good horse with a big heart. Despite his size he went on to win the Kentucky derby. He was a gorgeous horse. He was very small for a thouroughbred. And had very good bloodlines. He was a come from behind horse.
Not even in the Top 500, wrong selection, good horse with 1 lucky race
Goo mine that bird mine the bird rules - HorsegirlV 2 Comments
Should be much higher. had the chance to win the triple crown but was stopped by injury. - Dodgers27V 3 Comments
Is this the horse that raced in Australia? If so there must be some mistake to be listed ahead of such horses as rising fast, northerly and super impose
Huh! What drugs did you take to make this a selection.. Maybe a horse called northerly could take its placeV 1 Comment
Funny Video should get more recommendation!
That chesnut gelding almost won the triple crown with the incredible Jockey Jose Santos... Amazing races against empire maker!V 1 Comment
"He won his first 10 starts (including two Breeders' Cup stakes), 11 of his 14 lifetime starts across the country, and career earnings of $978,099 until his life was cut short by lymphoma during his four-year-old season." If you want a sob story, just read his wiki page. Not numer one, and probably not even in the top ten, but he deserves to be on this list because of the way he performed while also battling lymphoma.
A better sire than racer. Passed along the large heart gene to many great horses.V 1 Comment
Somethingroyal must be a fabulous horse to create secretariat (the best)V 4 Comments
Voted the most influential sire of all time. Won the Kentucky, the Preakness in 1964 and placed second in the Belmont losing the Triple Crown. N, Dancer should definitely be in the top 10, by the way: totally agree that Secretariat is the best of all time.
Unfortunately these lists are just popularity contests and no real reflection on ability. Northern Dancer at 197 is a prime example of this. Most people alive today never saw him run. This is why we see so many of the true great horses from the 50s and 60s so far down on this list.
No doubt this horse is in the top ten. His 2 out of 3 in the triple crown with a third in the Belmont for a little guy... And nobody wanted him to win because he was a "foreigner." Look at his times AND how about his 'offspring. '! Wouldn't be too many good horses around today without him.
This horse deserves more credit. Was an amazing sire!V 15 Comments
