1 Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) - Misery
Anne Marie Wilkes Dugan, usually known as Annie Wilkes, is a character in the 1987 novel Misery, by Stephen King. Those first words "I'm your number one fan" has me glued to the screen. She's so scarily unpredictable. The best written character in a thriller bar none. Stephen King did an amazing job when he created Annie Wilkes.
So chilling. The best, by far.
2 Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Sir Anthony Hopkins) - The Silence of the Lambs
Dr. Hannibal Lecter is a character in a series of suspense novels by Thomas Harris. Lecter was introduced in the 1981 thriller novel Red Dragon as a forensic psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer. So intelligent, so calm and charming (yes, charming. You did read that correctly) and so terrifically scary.
3 Mrs. Mott / Peyton Flanders (Rebecca De Mornay) - The Hand That Rocks The Cradle
I have a confession to make here. I used her character as inspiration for the novel I'm currently writing. She's quiet and very VERY manipuative. Excellent character.
4 Hedra Carlson (Jennifer Jason Leigh) - Single White Female
She's brilliant. Unhinged. The perfect flatmate...
5 Officer Pete Davis (Ray Liotta) - Unlawful Entry
6 The Phantom (Gerard Butler) - The Phantom of the Opera
Apart from the obsessiveness, the jealousy and the numerous murders, he's pretty much most Womens dream man.

12 Max Cady (Robert DeNiro) - Cape Fear
Max Cady is a fictional character and the primary antagonist of the John D. MacDonald novel The Executioners. He was portrayed by Robert Mitchum in Cape Fear and Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear. Can't believe I forgot to add him. Naturally he should be in the top three!
