Top Ten Best Movies of 1965
This movie came out around the same time the Space Race between the United States and the Soviet Union kicked into a new gear. For its first audiences the film's depiction of an international flight competition taking place in an earlier, lower-tech era offered a fun-house mirror reflection of contemporary adventures by Space Age pioneers.
Terry Thomas is the MVP of this movie. His performance was the inspiration for one Dick Dasterdly.
Funniest movie of the decade!
It's a rarity to see this because it qualifies as one of the best AND one of the worst movies of 1965. I pick the best not because of horrible plots and scripts but for the actual NASA footage of a launching of a rocket that would evolve years later as a Saturn V rocket and the astronaut here getting ready for lunch is John Glenn from a historic 1962 launch. A flop for most people but I don't see it that way.
