Best Video Games of 1994
After the somewhat lacking year that is 1993, 1994 is one of the best years in gaming, and Super Metroid gets my vote for the best game of the 1990s. Great atmosphere, surprisingly great story and music, amazing exploration, and tons of depth and replayability.
Masterpiece that started its own genre. Way ahead of its time.

Megaman X2 while not my favorite game of 1994, deserves a mention for being my second favorite Megaman X game thanks to having the best level design in the franchise, and the second best bosses selection. The visuals and soundtracks are also great. This shows that you don't need to be revolutionary to be an amazing game.
