Best Electric Guitars

The Top Ten

1 Gibson Les Paul

It's the most desirable guitar. Because it sounds great and the feeling of quality you feel when you put hands on the instrument. Not talking about other Gibson models, which could be great or not. Les Paul are nicer at an average rate than Fender Stratocaster, in which you need to try several ones to get with the right one. - Macaius

I love it. So much. It is also heavy, so it provides a good weapon of self-defense... Um, anyway, these guitars sound and play great.

A great looking guitar wich feels great made by Gibson -

Best by a long way. Its like a legend. Even if you prefer another you can't deny this guitar has your respect.

2 Fender Stratocaster

I took up guitar at 12, and the strat was the first one I bought. It was the cobalt blue one, and damn it sounded good. Gibson ain't bad, it's just the strat sounds the way I like it to, and each Fender guitar (strat or not) sounds different, each one has a unique sound, and I like that. I now own 3 strats (Cobalt Blue, Black, and that dark red one, I keep forgetting it's name! ). I recommend this guitar for everyone and anyone! Cheers!

Best guitar along with the Telecaster. Sharp and beautiful sounding. Top guitar, even if this poll says that Gibsons are better.

The strat is amazing however I prefer a telecaster which by the way you should put on here because it really is legendary to. In fact muddy waters plays one and sometimes Kirk hammett from Metallica plays one.

The Fender Stratocaster defines what an electric guitar is. It is truly the most iconic electric guitar in history. Other than that, the Strat has a sound and tone that is versatile and is unmatch by others. Truly an icon in music history.

3 Fender Telecaster

Currently don't own a Telecaster... But it will be my next guitar. Amazing sound and beautiful clean and blues tones! A must have for any guitar player/collector!

An awesome fender guitar a bit like the strat but only 1 cutaway and amoretti 50s sound -

How can the first solid body electric guitar ever made only be number five on this list? It' sounds amazing and it historical.

The gibson les paul was the first solid body. Not the telecaster

I have a 2013 American Standard Tele...with an noise cancelling pickguard (Illitch) use it with a SD pickup booster pedal...roll back the tone and you can achieve any sound, yet put the pedal on bypass and turn up the treble and you get tele heaven...if it is not the most versatile guitar known to mankind, I would like to play the guitar that can beat it...

4 Gibson SG

This guitar was used by Angus Young (AC DC), Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Daron Malakian (System Of A Down), Pete Townshend (The Who), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Frank Zappa we're also using one, EVERYBODY USED ONE, AND YOU KNOW WHY? BECAUSE ITS THE BEST GUITAR IN THE WORLD! - pwh589

I've got the les paul custom and the sg vos. The sg is just that little bit nicer in my humble opinion. Sound and playability.

Sg made by Gibson is an amazing guitar used by angus young -

Best guitar ever made

5 Gibson Firebird

Great guitar all around, the looks and sound will make you stand out on stage.

You should teach people to play it

6 Gibson ES-335

Possibly one of the best blues/rock guitars of all time. Think Cream Crossroads. That sound says it all! Also as a variant, think B.B.King. Not to mention jazz and the thousands of Jazz guitarists who have made a living playing this gem. The solid mahogany bit through the body helps to make a semi acoustic into almost a solid body. So much character.

7 Fender Jaguar

Best because you can do everything with it

8 Ibanez RG331M-YE
9 Schecter Synyster Gates Special

Synyster Gates special! Doesn't matter how it sounds, any modern guitarist would dream to play a guitar on statge with this kind of amazing look!

10 Gibson Explorer

The shape and tone of an Explorer literally screams (and growls) metal!

The Contenders

11 Gibson Firebird X

Hey! This should be in the top five! Its just released and I bought one! It's feather light and sounds awesome! I can compare it to fender strat!

12 Gibson Flying V

'59 Custom Shop reissue...incredible tone and sustain

Made by Gibson and dean the flying v looks like a v -

13 Brian May's Red Special

This guitar was quietly revolutionary. Built in the early 60s, it features an individual; 3-pickup switching system, AND phase controls for each pickups. Not only this, but it has a knife-edge bridge, acoustic pocketing, and much more.

14 EVH Striped Series
15 Gibson Byrdland
16 Fender Jazzmaster
17 Ibanez GIO GRG
18 ESP Ltd - F-400 FM
19 B.C. Rich Mockingbird

There is no guitar design, before or since that rivals the Mockingbird's sexy and aggressive lines! Telecaster? Firebird? Are you guys smoking something? Even stoned, Mockingbirds deserve a Top 3 placement AT LEAST!

What the hell?! This is the best guitar. Must be over the Gibson Les Paul. This is so great, stunning design, awesome sound, also most of the mockingbirds come with a tremolo.

Seriously, you've got to be blind if it's not the best looking guitar model in the history of ever!

20 PRS SE Custom 24

A guitar player's guitar. Quality control is unmatched. Impeccable attention to detail, can't believe it falls this low on the list. What a shame, and completely non-reflective of the instrument (and company) that PRS is.
