Over the years the video game industry has had many mistakes with most being long lasting and having a negative effect on a company.E.T. may have had a part in the video game crash but in actuality it was the lack of quality control that lead to the crash with games being rushed to meet deadlines.
Not only did Nintendo made a huge mistake by working with Philips to make the Philips CDi, but by breaking away from Sony they helped create their biggest competition the Sony PlayStation.
An we all saw how well that turned out 3 awful Zelda games and one really bad Mario game that Nintendo refuses to acknowledge their existence.
This console was doomed from the very beginning the thing was not only uncomfortable to play but the red and black graphics were a strain on your eyes, the virtual boy didn't even last a full year as it was discontinued with only 22 games in total.
Just to name a few the 32X and the Sega CD which was made to extend the life of the Sega Geneses but it made the thing look like one giant pile of monstrosity,
This really hurt Nintendo in the long run as cartridges were not only expensive to make but couldn't hold as much memory as CD's.
Four words "Because this game stinks" not exactly the words to get people to buy your game barley anyone cared about the game when it was first released it wouldn't be until years later the game became a cult classic thanks to Ness's inclusion in Super Smash Bros.
Just who the hell wants to play with cardboard as part of a video game.
