You’ve probably never heard of these films. That’s because they never got released. They were announced, but during production they ended up getting cancelled. Chances are we won’t be seeing these movies happen in the future.Gigantic was an upcoming Disney animated film that was announced at the 2015 D23 Expo and it was going to be about Jack and the Beanstalk. With songs written by Robert Lopez and Kristen-Anderson Lopez. At the Expo, they performed such a terrible song. I’m so glad the rest of the world won’t be able to hear it. It was torture. One of the worst Disney songs ever. This movie was originally going to come out this year in November, until it was delayed to 2021, until it was shelved, until it got cancelled. The movie went through a bunch of production issues. Other than that awful song, I was actually looking forward to the movie. It looked like it would be cute.
Newt was an upcoming Pixar movie that was announced but ended up not being made. I actually remember hearing about it when it was first announced. There was even an easter egg in Toy Story 3 that hinted at the movie. The plot is basically the last remaining male and female blue-footed newts on the planet are forced together by science and they have to save their species despite not getting along. Notice how the plot sounds very similar to the Blue Sky Studios film Rio. I think that’s part of the reason why it got cancelled. The movie was going to get a 2011 release date, but got pushed back to 2012, until it got replaced by Brave. Before the movie got cancelled, Pete Docter was given the opportunity to work on it, until he said he had another idea in mind. Which turned out to be Inside Out. As a result, Newt was no more.
I remember reading a couple of years ago that Disney was planning on making a live action movie based on the famous segment from Fantasia, Night on Bald Mountain. I was furious about that. The point of Fantasia was to show us that they could tell different stories through animation and music. Making it live action would be missing the point completely. It also bothered me when they made a live action Sorcerer’s Apprentice movie. Fortunately, according to a reliable Disney news source, this movie is no longer happening. Literally just found out about this a couple of days ago. I am so happy. Making a live action movie of this famous segment would be completely stupid.
Wizard of Oz is one of the most iconic films of all time. In the 1950s, Disney was originally going to make another Oz film. Which would have starred some of the Mouseketeers as the Oznians. The only thing people saw of the film were preview segments from Disneyland's fourth anniversary show. It's unknown why the movie didn't happen, probably due to the original Wizard of Oz airing in television for the first time in 1956, but it ended up getting replaced by an adaptation of Babes in Toyland. I'm sure Rainbow Road to Oz would've been way better than Oz the Great and Powerful.
I know Phineas and Ferb already got a T.V. movie in which they go into a second dimension, but did you know there was going to be a theatrical film? Apparently, it was going to be a combination animation and live action. It would've been like Roger Rabbit in which the characters would've been put in the real world. The movie has been in production since 2011. It was going to be written by Michael Arndt who was a writer for Toy Story 3 and the Force Awakens. It was stated that the script for the Phineas and Ferb movie was completed in 2015, but since we haven't heard anything about it since, we can only assume that it was cancelled. Even though Disney themselves haven't said it was cancelled yet. Considering the show ended, I doubt that the movie is gonna happen. Meanwhile, terrible movies like the Teen Titans Go movie, which I still haven't seen, get to be released. By the way, apparently there's supposed to be a Milo Murphy's Law and Phineas and Ferb crossover. Whatever happened to that?
Yeah, they wanted to give Chicken Little a sequel. Even though literally no one wanted a sequel. I read what part of the story was going to involve. Chicken Little is caught in a love triangle when an attractive French female sheep named Raffaela comes. Afraid of losing her boyfriend, Abby gives herself a makeover. Just from reading this, it becomes obvious what would've happened. I don't think this is the entire plot, but this just sounds really terrible and cliché. On the bright side, it ended up not happening. I'm sure no one was upset about that.
Not to be confused with THE Wild Life, the 2016 animated film. I honestly didn't know about the Disney movie before I started researching for this list. Wild Life was going to be a fully CGI animated movie that would have been a satire of 70s American pop culture. It was going to be a mature film with adult-oriented humor in the script. This movie could have been revolutionary. It would've shown people that Disney animation isn't just for kids. I really think they should've gone ahead and made it. But no. Roy Disney had to put a stop to it because it wasn't kid-friendly. I'm very disappointed. If this movie had come out, it would've been the second CGI film without Pixar's help. People say Chicken Little was the first one, but Dinosaur was actually the first one.
Someone out there was smart enough to know that making a sequel to Dumbo was a bad idea. Yet, somehow they greenlit Mulan 2, Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, and Belle’s Magical World. Yeah, there was originally going to be a sequel to Dumbo. It was going to take place in New York City and would’ve involved the characters getting separated. It was going to be directed by the guy who directed Joseph: King of Dreams. Another terrible direct to dvd movie. Luckily, Dumbo 2 ended up not happening thanks to John Lasseter. Unfortunately, we are still getting a pointless remake coming out next year. Along with Aladdin and the Lion King. Disney went through a sequel phase, now they’re going through a remake phase.
If you guys aren't gonna make a sequel to this movie, at the very least make a live action remake of it.
Dumbo II would've been a painfully boring and overrated baby movie. Treasure Planet 2 should be ranked much higher here!
We didn't need a sequel anyway. The first one was already great.
Sky High was supposed to receive a sequel called Save U chronicling Will Stronghold and his friends' experiences in college (which, just like the high school in the eponymous first movie, would have also been superhero-themed), but because Disney felt that the first one didn't do well enough at the box office (despite not even really being a bomb), it was unfortunately canceled.
Question: was this supposed to be a second sequel or was this what could have been instead of "Legacy"?
I don't exactly agree, as the first two were not bad.
They should've just stuck with THAT! That sounds cool.
And now you will get Monsters Inc: The Series coming 2019-2020
There are other actors who can play the mice Bianca and Bernard and their are 9 books in the Book series of the Rescuers plenty of ideas.
They can always find other actors and there are lots of rescuers books. I enjoyed the original movie.
If a third Rescuers film ever did come out, my money is on it being set in either Scandinavia or the Amazon.
Fraidy Cat would have been an animated satire of Alfred Hitchcock's film noirs and would have been directed by Ron Clements and John Musker. It's about house pets in London who have to figure out who kidnapped a neighborhood pet. I think this could've been a good movie. Unfortunately, they realized that it would be hard to market the film since the general audience were not well-versed in Hitchcock's films. It was going to be released in 2009. The year that another Ron Clements and John Musker film (The Princess and the Frog) came out.
I'm not a fan of the Beatles. I never really got into their songs. But I do know some things about them. Like, in 1968, they got a movie called "Yellow Submarine". Which I haven't seen. For some weird reason, Disney thought about remaking this thing. With Robert Zemeckis as the director. And it was going to be fully CGI, using motion capture like in Polar Express and A Christmas Carol. This was announced at the very first D23 Expo and they were hoping the movie would come out in 2012. However, due to the TERRIBLE results of Mars Needs Moms, the movie got cancelled. I'm sure it wouldn't have been good anyway.
Basically already exists in the form of the 2022 Rescue Rangers movie.
So apparently that one upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie with Margot Robbie (who more than likely would have played the character Redd from the attraction that the whole movie franchise was based on) has recently been canceled.
This was likely cancelled because now that he won his case against his ex-wife Disney is trying to lure Johnny Depp back.
Frankly, this would have been a better movie than "Lightyear".
Much better alternative to The Emperor's New Groove, being a musical. Still, ENG was really good.
