Top 10 Districts of Tamil Nadu

The Top Ten
1 Coimbatore

Fast growing to become a world-class city with Metro train and air connectivity to international destinations. Great weather and a friendly culture. Coimbatore shines!

I like Coimbatore. Nice climate, famous Koniamman Temple, and the Koniamman Car Festival. It's a great city. Everyone who comes will like Coimbatore. Thank you...

Coimbatore is best known for its climate, with many tourist places in and around the area.

2 Chennai

Chennai district is about learning of life and its people.

Chennai is the best city I have ever seen. Proud of Chennaiyans. This is the godfather of Tamil Nadu.

Chennai is a city where the maximum number of people have the ability to face problems on their own.

3 Kanchipuram

Yes, it's the best. World famous for temples and silks. It's good in groundwater. Kanchipuram is one of the seven sacred cities in the world.

The only district in Tamil Nadu to be called the city of lakes from ancient times... More than 912 lakes are there...

Kanchipuram is nearer to Chennai so most of the areas in this district are well developed. It is also famous for pattu.

4 Kanyakumari

Kanyakumari is the most wonderful district in Tamil Nadu. It is the only district to have a higher number of educated people in Tamil Nadu. Its high literacy rate, greenish towns, and good lifestyle make the district different from others in Tamil Nadu. If one belongs to that district, they definitely do not like to live in other districts in Tamil Nadu. If anyone from other districts comes to Kanyakumari, they can enjoy a lot, realize the good nature, and also will not wish to leave the Kanyakumari district. It is the only place to see both the sunrise and sunset. It is one of the well-developing cities in Tamil Nadu and is the southernmost place in India. WELCOME YOU ALL.

The story starts from the border of Kerala, which was forced to give it to Tamil Nadu. Yes, Kanyakumari was separated from Kerala and merged with Tamil Nadu.

As a former district of Kerala, it still carries the features of Kerala, from climatic conditions to literacy.

The district receives rainfall in two seasons every year: the southwest monsoon from Kerala and the northeast monsoon from Tamil Nadu, making it the highest rainfall-receiving district in Tamil Nadu.

The district has the highest literacy rate of 92%, which always makes it a political decider of the state. No single party holds a majority here, from local to central politics.

It attracts both domestic and international tourism with its diverse beauties.

Kanyakumari Beach is the place where, after Cape Town, we can see both sunrise and sunset from the same beach.

5 Tirunelveli

Good people. Always giving respect to each other. Still, they have protected our tradition and Tamil.

Best of all districts, the Western Ghats helps to provide rain and pollution-free air. It supports the world's rare plants and living creatures in these mountains' nature and environment.

Tamil birthplace in Tirunelveli, Agathiyar Mountain. Tirunelveli is a very old civilization in Tamil Nadu.

6 Madurai

Madurai is a temple city because of the world-famous Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. I am proud to be from Madurai. The longest bridge is in the Madurai district.

Great city. I'm proud to be from Madurai. I will always love Madurai. It's home to culturally rich people.

This city has a lot of history. It was ruled by one of the greatest kings, Pandian. I love it more and more...

7 Tiruchirappalli

Best city to live in. Peaceful. No bad things happen around there. Respectful and kind people. More importantly, cleanliness.

One among the cleanest cities of India. Green city of Tamil Nadu. Heart of Tamil Nadu. Fast developing city with all facilities.

Tiruchirappalli is centrally located in Tamil Nadu. It's easy to reach anywhere in the state from here.

8 Vellore

Vellore is the best district that provides you with a mix of all attractions. There are hill stations, forests, historic locations, and urbanized areas. The nation's top engineering and medical colleges are located here. It is home to the only second golden temple in India and Asia's largest observatory.

Vellore, a city in northern Tamil Nadu, is known for its many forts, thus the name Fort City. It is also known as the Second Madras due to its distance from the megacity. It is a beautiful green place and is said to be one of the highly developed cities in Tamil Nadu.

Vellore is simply called the Fort City, which contains a lot of historical events. It is a well-developing smart city and one of the important cities nearby in the future.

9 Salem

Salem is a good city to live in in terms of low cost of living, no communal or religious disputes, mutual respect, no caste discrimination, and being eco-friendly.

In and around Salem, the yield of tapioca is about 25-30 T/ha, the highest in the world. Nearly 80% of the national demand for Sago and Starch is being met by Sagoserv. Salem also has a major coffee industry in TN, apart from steel and mango.

Salem is a problem-free city with cheap and best food, a good climate, and no environmental or cyclone issues.

10 Erode

Erode is a great place to live without any community issues. The people commonly form friendships. They maintain business ethics and a give-and-take policy. The main thing is that the Erode Corporation is very smart in all its activities. Food is available in hygienic conditions.

Erode is the emerging district in Tamil Nadu, contributing income from startups to young Tamil Nadu...

Plentiful trees and good breeze. The city has one of the largest cloth markets in the world. Not much traffic.

The Contenders
11 Thanjavur

I was born here and live here. We have a peaceful life and one of the world-famous temples known as the "Big Temple," which was built by Raja Raja Cholan more than 1000 years ago. Recently, India's pride, the "Defense Airport," was also added to Thanjavur as the safest place. To be honest, the infrastructure of my place also has to be improved. However, my place is my heaven.

Just one word: It's "HEAVEN".

But most of them don't know that Thanjavur is the ancient capital of Tamil Nadu. It's been more than a thousand years. After British rule, they changed the capital to Chennai.

Thanjavur is my favorite one when compared with Salem and other districts. It's surrounded by green land. A lovable place.

12 Dindigul

Dindigul is a fantastic city with Kodaikanal on one side and Sirumalai (hills) on the other, with Palani on the adjacent side, hosting many temples. It has good hotels, especially for Biriyani in Dindigul, which is very delicious and tasty, unlike anywhere else. Dindigul is most famous for its Biriyani and a Malaikotai, which has much history to tell. Enjoy the climate in Kodaikanal.

Dindigul is a place with a traditional touch, and the city resembles Madurai in many aspects.

Dindigul has the most valuable things and it is a peaceful city. Here, vegetables, fruits, and some home items, sarees are famous.

13 Cuddalore

Peaceful life with a manageable population. Water scarcity is seldom an issue. The beautiful Silver Beach and the world-famous Chidambaram are in Cuddalore district. The ethnicity of Brahmins is well seen. Many temples are seen.

I love Cuddalore because there are many seas and oceans. And I love playing in water and swimming in it.

Cuddalore is the best district. I love my state so much. It should be first in the top 10. Thanks for giving it the 13th place. Once more, thank you. Next time, my district will be number 1, so try...

14 Thoothukudi

The people of Tuticorin love others unconditionally beyond caste, religion, color, etc. They give respect to all.

Most of the popular leaders belong to Tuticorin. No words to describe the love of the Tuticorin people.

15 Ramanathapuram

1. It is the only district with a lot of significance.
2. Land of warriors.
3. Land of leaders.
4. Cost of living is very low compared to other districts.
5. A place that never sends its parents to old-age homes.
6. Place of VIPs.

Ramanathapuram is a city of love and care, offering a variety of dishes.

Good people with good characters..

16 Tiruppur

You can say Cuddalore, Thanjavur, Vellore, Tirunelveli, and Madurai are better than us. I bet that most of their population comes to Tirupur in search of work, which is about 90%. They don't have the guts to say their city is the best.

It is the most important city for every Indian because the total revenue from textiles is achieved by 90% of exports.

The city that never sleeps. The only city in Tamil Nadu which has developed by itself with no help from the state government.

17 Theni

If you want to see heaven even before your last breath, just make a visit to Theni.

Theni has a great environment. It's a lovable district.

Good environment and natural area. Also, more tourist places are there.

18 Villupuram

1. Viluppuram district has 13 taluks, making it a big taluk district.
2. It is home to the Gingee Fort, which is over 500 years old.
3. The Kalrayan Hills, a major range of hills, are situated in the Eastern Ghats of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
4. Koovagam is famous for its annual festival of transgender and transvestite individuals, which takes fifteen days in the Tamil month of Chitrai (April/May). People from different places attend this festival.

Villupuram is a very big district in Tamil Nadu. The transportation facilities are good.

Villupuram is less likely to be affected by natural disasters.

19 Dharmapuri

Dharmapuri is one of my favorite birth cities. The people are very good, and there is good education with a large number of government staff. The Tamil Nadu government needs to focus on this district to start industries and support agriculture. Here, there are many talented people who have moved to Bangalore and Hosur. If industries are established here, they will prove their talents and improve the status of Tamil Nadu.

We don't want the best industries. We want the best politicians because they are not doing anything for farmers and are not creating good opportunities for talented individuals.

20 Karur

Karur is the textile city of Tamil Nadu where most home decors and bedsheets are manufactured. It is a hub for handloom textiles. 70% of mosquito nets in India are produced here! The city area is congested nowadays. About 2.5 lakhs population was recorded in the city area in the 2011 census, which may touch 3.5 lakhs in 2021. It is the 16th biggest in terms of population in the state (including 14 corporations). Now the city has grown bigger, whereas the city area as per the government is smaller or remained unchanged. There is a lack of basic needs in the core city.

Two national highways, small district...well connected by road and rail...people are always very busy.

Sadly, it is the hottest place during summer days!

21 Tiruvannamalai

Tiruvannamalai is one of the finest districts to live a peaceful life with nature and people. The Annamalaiyar Temple is well-known to all. The district has many more tourist attractions like Sathanur Dam, Ramana Maharishi Ashram, and Parvadhamalai (a mostly unknown hill with a lot of secrets – go and visit there).

22 Virudhunagar

Sivakasi crackers.
Sriviliputhur temple and milk kova.
Rajapalayam dogs.
Best environment on hillside near Kerala.
Kamarajar was born here.
Ramana Maharishi was born in this district.

Virudhunagar has the best education system, and most of its residents are innocent people.

Virudhunagar is an industrial district. Really proud of it.

23 Sivagangai

In Sivagangai the people are very kind and responsive clay pot making is famous

24 Pudukkottai

Best tourist places in Pudukkottai: Chithannavasal Ooviyam, Sivam temple, and more. It has more beautiful villages and lovely people. Here, agriculture is famous.

Pudukkottai is the best district and is historical.

25 Namakkal

Every town has its own best, and this is a town, not a city. Here, there are many schools, colleges, lorry body building units, and bore well building units (rig units and their spare parts in Tiruchengode). Agriculture products like sugarcane, korai, tapioca, and sago factories, as well as a jaggery weekly market in Jedar Palayam, etc., are some notable points.

Namakkal is famous for bore well drilling and egg production. The district has many schools and colleges and is the best place for study.

Considering all parameters, Namakkal is the best. Education is the base for all development. Namakkal simply beats even the state capital, Chennai.
