The Top Ten
1 Calgary Flames The Calgary Flames are a professional ice hockey team based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Flames are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

Cool name, and there are a lot of cool "fire" related songs that the arena can play... and they usually do!

The Calgary Flames are the best! Go Flames Go! Watch out, because they might burn you!

Not because I am a flames fan but the goal horn the music the names is just beast

2 Tampa Bay Lightning The Tampa Bay Lightning are a professional ice hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. It is a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The Lightning have three Stanley Cup championships in their history, in 2003-04, 2019-20, and 2020-21.

Awesome name. Great for it too. I think the Panthers should be banished, kicked out of the NHL forever though. Old players play for the Panthers, but I love the name of the Tampa Bay Lightning, although I am not a fan of them.

Lightning is the best name in the NHL, but the team? NO!

Great team, name, jerseys, and players!

3 Nashville Predators The Nashville Predators are a professional ice hockey team based in Nashville, Tennessee. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

This is epic, like a clash between the Avengers and the Expendables. Where else do you hear a team called the Predators?

How is Flyers a cooler name than Predators?

I am a Boston fan and even love this logo.

4 Buffalo Sabres The Buffalo Sabres are a professional ice hockey team based in Buffalo, New York. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Cool name, and I like the team colors. The logo is ok, but the old one from '97-'06 was so much cooler.

5 Colorado Avalanche The Colorado Avalanche are a professional ice hockey team based in Denver, Colorado. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. The Avalanche and Coyotes are the only two teams in their division not based in the Central Time Zone; the teams are situated in the Mountain Time Zone.

Not the best team, but definitely the coolest name.

It's an avalanche. Literally, that's beyond cool.

It’s offensive (to skiers) but awesome!

6 Philadelphia Flyers The Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team based in Philadelphia. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League.

The name, Flyers, is cool and innovative because what can you relate it to? Lightning - generic, Predators - cool name and not as generic as Lightning, but still generic.

7 Florida Panthers The Florida Panthers are an American professional ice hockey team based in the Miami metropolitan area.
8 New Jersey Devils The New Jersey Devils are a professional ice hockey team based in Newark, New Jersey. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference. The club was founded as the Kansas City Scouts in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1974. Go name a basketball team the FLAMES! Both hockey and penguins are related to ice. Pens name and team is better than Flyers.

Pittsburgh's better than all you other teams. Don't try to deny the truth!

ALL Pittsburgh teams have the greatest names! Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates!
Flyers? Flamers? Blues? Phillies, Browns? What is that?!

10 Carolina Hurricanes The Carolina Hurricanes are a professional ice hockey team based in Raleigh, North Carolina. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League.

I love the Hurricanes. The crowd is hyped up, the storm alarm, and the storm surge is amazing! Very promising team in the future.

One of the most dangerous storms to ever exist.

The Contenders
11 Dallas Stars The Dallas Stars are a professional ice hockey team based in Dallas, Texas. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

Dallas Stars is a REALLY cool name! But why isn't Pittsburgh Penguins on here? And why is Flyers on here at all? The only reason they're called that is because it's the opposite of Penguins.

Yeah, it's a cool name, and it was taken to somewhere it doesn't belong! The NORTH Stars was way cooler than the "Stars."

12 Phoenix Coyotes
13 Minnesota Wild The Minnesota Wild are a professional ice hockey team based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

A name that actually sounds like it belongs in hockey, unlike Panthers or Predators.

14 San Jose Sharks The San Jose Sharks are a professional ice hockey team based in San Jose, California. They are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

Like, this isn't even on the list! First, Calgary TRASH! The Sharks, the Hurricanes, or anyone but the Flames!

15 Atlanta Thrashers

This team is very unrated. So sad that this team had to go in 2011. Maybe one day they'll have there come back.

16 Boston Bruins The Boston Bruins are a professional ice hockey team based in Boston, Massachusetts. The Bruins compete in the National Hockey League as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference Atlantic Division.

Should be higher up. They are actually named after a fierce animal and not a star or a penguin... like those are some sad names for a team.

17 Detroit Red Wings The Detroit Red Wings are a professional ice hockey team based in Detroit, Michigan. They are members of the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League and are one of the Original Six teams of the league.

They are my favorite team. Too bad many of their better players retired or left.

18 Montreal Canadiens The Montreal Canadiens (French: Les Canadiens de Montréal) are a professional ice hockey team based in Montreal, Quebec. They compete in the National Hockey League (NHL) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.

The Canadiens are an awesome team name because we should always respect Canada and their people.

Montreal CANADIENS... This is a Canadian sport, and yet this isn't a cool name even though it has Canadiens in it.

Um, yeah, hockey is a Canadian sport.

19 Columbus Blue Jackets The Columbus Blue Jackets are a professional ice hockey team based in Columbus, Ohio. They are members of the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The Blue Jackets were founded as an expansion team in 2000.

The team plays its home games at Madison Square Garden in the borough of Manhattan, an arena they share with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). I searched for a "sports star" because I had to write about one for school. I searched for a hockey player, so I searched for a team first. The New York Rangers - this name was so cool, so I chose them and found Rick Nash. He is my favorite player now, and I am a real Ranger fan!

22 Chicago Blackhawks The Chicago Blackhawks are a professional ice hockey team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League. They have won six Stanley Cup championships since their founding in 1926.

Back then, Indians had different styles of names, which is cool, and a Blackhawk is my favorite.

The name, plus the Indian head logo!

23 Vancouver Canucks The Vancouver Canucks are an ice hockey team based in Vancouver, British Columbia. They are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.

Under-ranked at less than 10?! Let's show some more respect for this great team.

Well, what's better than an orca? This should be higher than the Sharks, Panthers, and Kings.

Do you even know what this is? The best name. DUH.

24 St. Louis Blues The St. Louis Blues are a professional ice hockey team in St. Louis, Missouri. They are members of the Central Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League.
