Because It's Close To Russia And Has Good Relations With The Kremlin

I just want to say that we don't have good relations with Turkey

We are Bulgarians, that means we are southern slavic orthodox Christians. Currently this military alliance called NATO is targeting our slavic orthodox Christian brothers in Russia and Ukraine, this is unacceptable and offensive. The bonds between Bulgaria, Russia and Ukraine span more than 10 centuries. Ever since we joined NATO and the EU our economy has become stagnant only recently surpassing 1985 purchasing power, in order to join NATO we had to demilitarize and get rid of our deterrents, in order to join the EU we had to dismantle our industrial base. Needless to say, this was a huge mistake that lowered our standard of living for decades. This alliance is archaic anyway, conventional warfare is a relic, nowadays war is being waged in the financial and cyber theaters. Gone are the days when millions of men and tanks clash face to face. The majority of Bulgarians feel their country should be allined with the Russian sphere of influence. Bulgarians feel dissatisfied with EU and NATO politics towards Russia and towards their own country. Treating us like second class citizens is not "European"."

Absolute nonsense! Russia is historically THE NUMBER ONE ENEMY OF Bulgaria.
Unfortunately there is a significant Russophile presence in Bulgaria, which is contrary to the national interest of the country. Russia did not liberate Bulgaria. Russia's political and historical ambitions have always been to capture the Bosphorus and Istanbul. Bulgaria was supposed to be a Balkan Enclave to further Russian domination of the Balkans.
