WHAT! Merida is a good role model! Just forget about her looks, even if they are cute on her. She teaches that bravery doesn't mean self-importance and unruly behaviour, but means humbleness and kindness. Some people say she is bratty and irresponsible, but still, she worked hard to save her kingdom. She loved her mother but wanted to let her understand who she is.
I like her fiery courage and playful sense of adventure. She has skill in archery and learnt to overcome her brattiness. My dearest role model, at least not a coward like that Elsa, and the movie is awesome.
Ariel is just as bad, and Anna is extremely dumb and irritating, but Merida has a special stupidity about her. Her only personality is "stubborn" and "challenging societal norms" (even though Disney has already done that very well several times over). She is a nasty person. Brave is a boring movie.

She is ridiculously stupid. She falls for a guy she's never met and is not allowed to meet, which is understandable, but the stuff she is willing to go through for this guy she's never met is ridiculous. So she makes a deal with Ursula, which would be stupid even if the deal actually seemed like a good one, because everyone knows Ursula is evil. So Ariel sells her voice to Ursula in hopes of making Eric fall in love with her in 3 days, or else she belongs to Ursula. That is a really bad deal. For all she knows, Eric is actually some jerk. And even if she gets him to fall for her, she still will never see her family again. So basically, Ariel is stupid.
